Day 3: Full Day Excursion to Sintra, Estoril & Cascais Pena Castle in Sintra Cascais Estoril After breakfast, come and discover with us the magnificent Sintra village where the Royal Family used to live during the summers and taste the local traditional pastry in this charming region. Visit the Royal Palace and leave for the town of Colares on tramway*. Later admire Cabo de Roca, Europe s westernmost point, and the incredible Boca do Inferno. Day 4: Lisbon Seville, Spain After breakfast, departure along the rolling plains of the Alentejo with its woodlands of cork and eucalyptus trees, southwards all the way to the brilliant light of Andalusia. Admire its neat whitepainted villages and sun-drenched plantations of olives, figs, and almonds, while traveling by way of Beja into magnificent Seville. Dinner with wine and overnight in Seville. Day 5: Seville Sightseeing After breakfast, enjoy a superb sightseeing tour of Seville, the capital of Andalucia, one of Spain s most colorful cities. The fourth largest in Spain, this is a city humming with life and prosperity, holding magnificent buildings and monuments, and considered the most popular and attractive in the whole country. Our visit will start with the Alcazar, which served both as Palace and Fort, and will continue in the Cathedral, a unique beauty all its own combining old Arabic and Christian architecture. The cathedral was built on top of a former mosque and is now the third largest in the world. Adjoining to it, the Giralda tower stands 322 feet high. We continue our visit to the Barrio de Santa Cruz, the old Jewish quarter where we will ramble along the narrows streets with it small bars and restaurants, the beautiful Maria Luisa Park with its sunken gardens, the decorative fountains, and the lovely "azulejos"(tiles) in the Plaza de España, a semicircular square with a great building around it. We finish our trip to Seville with a drive over the Isla de la Cartuja area, where the Universal Exposition took place in 1992. Dinner with wine at your hotel. Overnight in Seville Day 6: Seville Ferry to Morocco Fez An interesting drive today starts with views of the sherry wine region before reaching the coast for embarkation on the ferry to Morocco. Day 7: Fez Morning city tour of Fez will include the Old Kasbah and its IX century streets. Fez is one of the oldest of the imperial cities of Morocco, which was founded shortly after the Arabs swept across North Africa following the death of the Prophet. Fez el-bali is the original old walled Medina and one of the largest in the Arab world forming an interesting maze of twisting alleys, arches, mosques, shrines, fountains, workshops, and markets. Fez Day 8: Fez Middle Atlas Marrakech While motoring through the Middle Atlas on your way to Marrakesh, enjoy glimpses of North African village life reminiscent of Beau Geste. Marrakech Day 9: Marrakech Breakfast and morning sightseeing tour of this Imperial city, capital of the Atlas region, visiting the Summer Royal Palace, Tombs Saadi, Kotoubia Tower and the famous Djemaa el Fna Square, with incessant activities. Marrakesh is one of Morocco's most important artistic and cultural centers. It was founded in 1062 by the Almoravide sultan Youssef Ibn Tachfin. The focal point of Marrakesh is the Djemaa el Fna, a huge square in the old part of town where, late in the evening, rows of open food stalls are set up and entertainers take to the streets. Rabat This morning, drive northwest from the heartland of Morocco by way of Settat to reach the most western of all Moroccan cities Casablanca. Stop here awhile. Later in the afternoon, continue by way of the motorway northwards to Rabat, in Morocco s capital for a city sightseeing of the capital of the Kingdom of Morocco. Rabat is known as the 'White City' due its whitewashed narrow streets, beautiful houses with overhanging balconies, and ornate doors of multi coloured mosaics. Dinner with wine and overnight in Rabat. Day 11: Rabat Ferry Crossing to Spain Granada Today, an early departure retraces your steps northwards for the ferry across the Straits of Gibraltar to mainland Spain. Drive directly to the heart of Andalusia to reach Granada. Dinner with wine at the hotel. Overnight in Granada. Day 12: Granada City Tour and on to Madrid Morning city tour will include the Alhambra Palace. Alhambra is an Arabic word that means red, the color of its fortified walls. Built during the 13th and 14th century, it took nearly 100 years to be completed. Visit includes the Court of the Myrtle s, the Court of the Lions, the Hall of Secrets, the Hall of the Ambassadors, and the Alcazaba, the castle that guarded the Palace. We will also visit the beautiful gardens of the Generalife with its green water gardens and the fountains that inspired several famous Spanish composers. Over the centuries the Alhambra gradually fell into ruins but, curiously, it was the American Author Washington Irving who helped prod the city into having the monument restored. Irving lived in the palace early in the 19th century, where he wrote his book "Tales of the Alhambra". Now the Alhambra is completely restored and rebuilt.
