FOUNDED IN 1886, the original Jekyll Island Club was the private retreat for America s wealthiest families. Here, they built a riverside compound of grand cottages and a Victorian clubhouse. Over a century later, this river front colony lives again as a National Historic Landmark District with the Clubhouse and adjacent cottages wonderfully restored as a stellar, resort destination.
