ITINERARY Day 01: CUSCO MOLLEPATA - SALKANTAYPAMPA Pick up at your hotel BEGINNING OF THE SERVICES Early in the morning we will go to the town of Mollepata by private transportation, travelling for about 4 hours, crossing the Pampas or Yawar Anta Pampa (Pampa de la Sangre), known for the fierce battle developed between the Incas and Chancas for control of the city of Cusco. We will continue our journey to Mollepata, where we will stop for breakfast and take a short break. Then we will continue our journey through Pata Cruz at 3200 meters, reaching Sayllapata (3600 m) where we will meet our horses and staff (Cook and helpers). Here we will begin our trek with a gradual climb for about 2h30, observing the mountain of Salkantay and enjoying beautiful Andean landscapes. We will continue through a small village called Challacancha, then Soraypampa at 3950 meters, where we will have lunch. There, our trek will begin with a moderate ascent of approximately 2 hours to the point of camping called Pampas Salkantay at 4153 m. Day 02: SORAYPAMPA - COLPAPAMPA Early in the morning, our guide will wake you up with hot coca tea. After having breakfast we will start our trek with a steep climb of 3 hours that will lead to the highest point of the entire trek, the pass of Salkantay, located at 4650 meters. During the trip we will visit the majestic snow-capped Salkantay, at 6271 meters of altitude. After passing the Salkantay pass, we will start a descent for 1h30 to reach Huayracmachay, where we will stop for lunch. Then we will go down for about 3 hours to our campsite, located in the area of Lick Pampa, 2890 m, where we will camp. Installation of the camp Maximum altitude: 4600m Minimum Altitude: 2890m Distance traveled: 16 km Approximate time of walk: 7 to 8 hours. Day 03: COLPAPAMPA LA PLAYA Breakfast Maximum altitude: 2890m Minimum Altitude: 2100m Approximate time of walk: 5 to 6 hours. We will then begin with an unforgettable walk that will allow us to see the changing nature of mountains with snow; we will go to places with a variety of local flora and fauna. Here we will have the opportunity to see different types of plants, fruit, flowers, birds as well as coca and banana crops. You will even have the opportunity to try a bath in the falls, and hopefully we will observe the famous Peruvian National Bird, the "Cock of the Rock." Then, we will continue walking towards our campsite
Day 04: LA PLAYA HYDROELÉCTRICA AGUAS CALIENTES Breakfast After breakfast we will begin our walk to the town of Lucmabamba, where we will see the remains of an Inca trail. Continuing east along an ascending path, with direction Llactapata, we will continue to see coffee plantations, banana, avocado, etc. and a beautiful view of the valley of Santa Teresa. After climbing for 4 hours to the highest point of Llactapata at 2700 meters, we will enjoy free time to relax and watch the mountain of Machu Picchu (Inca city) and some of these archaeological sites. Then we will descend for 2 hours to the Hydroelectric Power Station (1870 m), Last lunch with all our staff. We will observe one of the World s Seven Wonders and its architectural techniques, which are unique in Peru. Entrance to MachuPicchu - The impressive and colossal citadel of Machu Picchu is one of the most important tourist attractions in Cusco. 400 years hidden by the mountains and tropical jungle, it was rediscovered in 1911 by the explorer Hiram Bingham. Machu Picchu was a cultural and astronomical observation centre, and also a private refuge for the Inca Pachacutec. It is made up of 2 large areas, one agricultural, and another urban one, where its temples, squares, and royal mausoleums stand out thanks to the exquisite perfection of their construction.
