DESCRIPTION At the time of year, when skis are normally gathering dust in the closet, we are offering an incredible ski touring holiday to explore Patagonia. We will make fresh tracks accross this vast and spectacular region and return to two base camps which are a 1500km plane journey away from each other. The first part of the trip will take us along the Nahuel Huapi Lake, at the foot of the Andes and a few kilometers from the Chilean border in the Seven Lakes district. Welcome to San Carlos de Bariloche, the historic capital of Patagonia. Lakes, mountains, pine forests, wooden chalets, fondue and chocolate awaits you there... Skiing overlooking the lake is fantastic, and the snow is often powdery. After 2 nights at the refuge Frey, easily accessible from Cerro Catedral, we will explore the many corridors and needles so typical of this beautifull part of the mountain... The second part of the stay will be 1,500 kilometers further south, at the Chile-Argentinean border. Based in El Chalten, we will be at the foot of the Fitz Roy and the Cerro Torre in Los Glaciares National Park. This is one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world, with granite peaks emerging from the third largest expanse of ice on earth. In this magnificent setting, we will be spoilt for choice of ski-touring routes. Then, depending on the weather and desires of the group, we can also ski the famous Perito Moreno glacier, which is located 2 hours drive from El Chalten... Upon arrival in San Carlos de Bariloche, meet the guide and get a minibus transfer to the hotel. Verification of the individual equipment and distribution of the group equipment when needed. Overnight at Hotel Santa Rita. DAY 2 : Warm-up at Cerro Catedral Discover the scenic and the off-piste run easy to access from the ski resort. Overnight stay at Hotel Santa Rita. DAY 3 : Cerro Catedral Set off for the Cerro Catedral ski area and hiking to the Frey mountain hut. Overnight stay at Frey. +500mts, -1000mts, 3hrs to 4hrs. DAY 4 : El Monje?- Catedral Principal In front of the hut, an impressive circus provides access to a large number of corridors, passes and peaks. We will ski 2 / 3 of those magnificent couloirs. Overnigh stay at Frey. +400mts, -400mts about per couloir. DAY 5 : Cancha de Futbol - Cerro Brecha Negra?- San Carlos de Bariloche? Crossing to the refuge Jakob and descent into the huge valley of Casa de Piedra to reach Bariloche.
Overnight stay at Hotel Santa Rita. +800mts, -1000mts, 5hrs to 6hrs. DAY 6 : Bariloche - El Calafate? After 1:30 hour flight, we will drive to El Chalten through breathtaking landscapes. Night at b&b Patagonicus. DAY 7 : Cerro Mosquito Cerro Mosquito? promises stunning views over the entire chain of Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre. Overnight stay at b&b Patagonicus. +1300mts, -1300mts, 4hrs to 5hrs. DAY 8 : Base Camp Rio Blanco. Approch the bivouac and set the tent at the foot of the Fitz Roy.? Overnight stay in a 1000 stars hotel! +250mts. DAY 9 : Los Tres glacier - Passo Superior Amazing itinerary right under the Fitz Roy and his satellites. Impressive and spectacular. Wak back to El Chalten. Overnight stay at b&b Patagonicus. +1100mts, - 1450mts, 9hrs to 10hrs. DAY 10 : Vespigniani glacier? Great skiing on the glacier, where the snow stay powder all year round. Drive back to El Calafate, visit of the touristical town. Overnight stay at El Glaciar Hostel. DAY 12 : Perito Moreno glacier Our unique itinerary will take us 1200mts above the famous Perito Moreno. Overnight stay at El Glaciar Hostel. +1100mts, -1100mts, 4hrs to 5hrs. DAY 13 : Buenos Aires Flight back to Buenos Aires. Evening dinner in the lively neighborhood of Palermo. DAY 14 : Flight back home - Back to another reality HOTELS AND MOUNTAIN HUT During this unique experience we sleep turns into a hotel, hostel, mountain hut and tent. The adventure is waiting for you, but everything has been pre-arranged for the comfort of the group so that we can maximise the skiing fun factor. We are limited with regards to how much we can take, so a sleeping bag for 2 nights at the shelter and the night in a tent! SANTA RITA HOTEL: At the lake Nahuel Huapi, this small cozy family hotel is ideally located in a quiet area between the resort and the town of San Carlos de Bariloche; not far from the best meat restaurant in the area... EMILIO FREY MOUNTAIN HUT: At 1700mts high?frey Refuge is surrounded by needles and more attractive as each other corridors. This is probably the most beautiful refuge in the area, built in granite stone, it fits perfectly into its environment. It really is a magical place to ski. PATAGONICUS B&B: In El Chalten, the atmosphere is calm and friendly. The tourist season starts in
Novembre. Patagonicus offer spacious and clean rooms and hot water in abundance. BIVOUAC IN TENT: The Bivouac area to access, Los Tres Glacier is located in the forest at a place called Rio Blanco, within an hour of attack on the glacier. It is a beautiful place to spend a night under 1000 stars. EL GLACIAR HOSTEL : Simple and cosy place to stay, including a great hot shower! SISSIHAZZ HOTEL : This boutique hotel is idealy located for us to enjoy Buenos Aires by night. SKIING LEVEL This safari can be organised for skiers from level 3 to 5. driven by the guide. SAFETY KIT : Shovel, avalanche probe and avalanche beacon are Lent to each participant for the week, must be worn under your jacket and turned on at all times while skiing. If you have your own bring it! EXTRAS RESCUE INSURANCE : Compulsory for all trips in Europe, even those that only ski at the resorts, for mountain rescue, assistance, transportation to nearest hospital, etc. TRIP INSURANCE (Check your credit card policy) : May be subscribed privately for cancellation before the trip or interruption due to accident and repatriation. Highly recommended, as all subsisting costs will be charged in case of absence. Payment by credit card, Visa Premier or Gold MasterCard, may provide cancellation insurance. Check your contract. LUNCHES, DINNERS & DRINKS : Often group members will pool their money for lunch and wine at the dinner table. Lunchs are often picnics on the mountain when sunny, enhanced by specialities brought by the participants to be shared. Or home cooking in mountain, but when the weather is bad it is very nice to stop on a small dry and warm hut for a traditional meal. Guide lunch is to be offered by the participants. SINGLE ROOMS (about 25 per day) : A little extra privacy each night for individuals traveling alone who would like a little extra space. AIRLINE TICKETS: Each participant will buy his flight from Bariloche airport to Calafate airport once in Bariloche. GROUP EQUIPMENT (PROVIDED BY 9V) SAFETY KIT : Including shovel, avalanche probe and avalanche beeper: Must be worn by each participant at all times off-piste. If you have your own, please bring it. SAFETY AND RESCUE EQUIPMENT : Each guide will have all that is necessary for the safety of his group in his rucksack : radio or mobile phone, first aid kit, tools for repair, space blanket, rope, shovel, avalanche probe...). The guide may ask you to carry such equipment in your rucksack. If you are an experienced mountaineer with your own equipment, bring it with you. WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING TOURING SKIS : 9V guides use and recommend moderatly wide touring skis (about 100mm maximum under the foot) that make all kinds of deep snow fun and are light enough when used with Dynafit lowtech touring bindings to go uphill with skins and enjoy the skiing down afterwards. SLEEPING BAG 0 / -5 : For the mountain hut and the bivouac. BAGGAGE : Please travel light! As you will be staying in 4 different places during the Safari, make sure that your bagage is practical, quickly packed and easy to carry. It will be transported from one hotel to the next, but there are no "porteurs" to and from the rooms, and please think of the bus driver who will be loading and unloading all the bagage. Please, only one baggage per person to be transported and no loose belongings likely to get lost. RUCKSACK (45L) for daily necessities + sleeping bag. Inside your pack you should have: -Sunglasses and goggles with anti-fog orange lenses for bad weather. -Scarf or neck warmer to protect against wind, cold, sun or powder. -High protection sun screen for lips and face. -Foil blanket in case of accident. -Spare gloves. -Drinks, dried fruit, nuts, chocolate, muesli bars -Shovel and probe (bring your own if you have them).

TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT: Skins, ski crampons, harnais*, crampons*. *We can provide you with harnais and crampons, please mentionne it on the booking form. CLOTHING: Most of the time you will be in skiwear. At any time of the season, weather can be sunny and warm or bitterly cold, windy, snowy or rainy. If properly equipped, you will enjoy the skiing, whatever the weather. We ski in all conditions. Plan to take extra clothing in your rucksack each day, which will allow you to adapt to changes in temperature and weather. Temperature varies with altitude, about 10 C per 1000 metres, therefore the difference in temperature between the valley and the summit will be about 20 C, possibly more with wind chill.
