Nidarosdomen Cathedral From Bårdshaug Herregård Mansion to Gammelgruva, the old mine at Løkken Verk, Christian Thams is one of the most fascinating gentlemen from Trøndelag. Thams was a pioneer of engineering and architecture. His achievements can still be seen today, as represented by the venerable Bårdshaug Herregård Mansion in Orkanger; Norway s first electric railway, the Thamsbanen; and Gammelgruva, the old mine at Løkken Verk.
The Archbishop's Palace The Archbishop's Palace in Trondheim is one of the best preserved building complexes of its kind in Europe. It is the oldest secular building in Scandinavia. Building began in the second half of the 12th century, and this was the archbishop's residence until the Reformation in 1537.
Ringve Museum Ringve Museum is Norway's national museum of music and musical instruments. Ringve Museum houses two permanent exhibitions: "The Museum in the Manor House" (open April - October) comprises the oldest section, and has been preserved as it looked when Ringve s founder, Victoria Bachke, opened the museum in 1952. "The Museum in the Barn" (open all year), is an exhibition featuring modern sound and light technology.
Rockheim Norway's national centre for pop and rock music is the newest attraction in Trondheim, opened in 2010. Located in a striking building in the harbour area, Rockheim (literally "the home of rock") showcases the best of Norwegian popular music from the 1950s to the present day through exhibitions, interactive experiences, and of course concerts.
Sverresborg - Trøndelag Folk Museum A museum of cultural history around the ruins of King Sverre's medieval castle. Large open-air museum with wooden buildings and scenes from Trondheim and Trøndelag. Beautiful indoor exhibitions: "Images of Life" depicting life in the region in the last 150 years, and the theme theatre "The Trønder Bride", ski museum, telecom museum and so on.
Munkholmen island With an area of just 13 decares, Munkholmen is a small islet of land just off the Trondheim harbour in the Trondheim fjord. The islet served as the main place for executions during the Viking Age, and the heads of enemies of the State, such as Håkon Jarls and the slave Kark, were placed on stakes next to the islet to warn potential enemies. English sources show that King Cnut the Great established a monastery on Munkholmen in 1028.

Kristiansten Fortress Kristiansten Fortress towers above Trondheim city centre, and is one of the most popular recreational areas in town. Kristiansten Fortress consists of a central square tower for cannons, which has come to be known as the Donjon (from dungeon). The tower has four floors with gun slits in the walls, and the surrounding ramparts provided cover and munitions rooms. Today, the donjon is open to the public and houses a defence museum which is managed by the Armoury.
Trondheim Harbor A must-do in Trondheim is a visit to the city's old port area at the mouth of the River Nidelv. You can spend hours wandering around the colorful old wooden warehouses built on piles above the water, many of them converted to classy boutiques and high-end homes.
