Artist exchange studios City of Zurich
The studio facilities The three artists studios/lofts are located in west Zurich. They are situated in the atic of the main building of the F+F School of Art and Media Design (3 rd floor). The F+F is an independent art school attended by 200 students studying fine art, graphic design, photography and film. It also offers a foundation course and adult education evening classes. (www.ffzh.ch). The artists studios are separated from the school facilities. The students have no access to the residency studios. The studios come in three sizes: 128 m2 (Studio 1), 112 m2 (Studio 2) and 149 m2 (Studio 3). They offer good lighting conditions and there is enough space to divide the room into working and living areas. The studios are each equipped with a sink. Outside the studio there are simple kitchen facilities and a washing machine with tumble dryer. Each of the three rooms has its own bathroom / toilet with shower next to its entrance. A goods lift provides access for any large and heavy objects.

Support during the exchange programme The administration office of the F+F School is open daily from Monday to Friday 9.0012.00 and 13.30-16.30 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The secretaries can provide the visiting artists with basic information. Though there is no direct administration link between the F+F School and the studio users, the F+F, in cooperation with the city of Zurich will offer on agreement services such as: Picking up the visitors at the airport Introducing them to the use of the studios and the school building Explaining the Zurich traffic system Explaining the administrative steps to be done at arrival with local authorities Giving a simple tour through the town Introducing them personally to the Zurich art scene and informing them on other cultural events Organising meetings with other Zurich based artists etc. For these service please contact the school director Mr. Sandi Paucic. Opposite the school building is a canteen run by the Union Bank of Switzerland, which is normally accessible during lunchtime (not in the evening). There are several restaurants and simple food shops nearby. The petrol station round the corner sells hot and cold sandwiches, bread, milk, wine etc., daily until 10pm. On arrival the artists will be given an information sheet with detailed instructions. The artists are responsible for day-to-day maintenance of the studios (keeping kitchen & bathroom clean, getting rid of garbage, recycling bottles etc.) On agreement with the organiser of the exchange programme, the F+F can provide additional cleaning of the studios on a two weekly basis. At the end of the residency the rooms must be left clean and empty. Any extra cleaning will be charged for. Permanent structural changes to the rooms are forbidden. Any additional guests who stay over night regularly have to be announced and agreed with the exchange programme responsible. Each user of the studio will get 1 key for the main entrance and 1 key for their studio. The keys have to be returned on departure.
