Students at Edinburgh Napier International Students Club (SENIC) This brochure introduces Edinburgh Napier International Students Club and contains information on social events and tours organised by SENIC throughout the year. SENIC is for ALL Edinburgh Napier University students on campus. Please note that tickets can only be purchased on the stated dates and times. Main benefits of membership 1. To learn some of the history and culture of Scotland through organised social events and planned cultural trips within Scotland. 2. To meet students from over 70 countries in the world studying at Edinburgh Napier. 3. To have the opportunity to socialise in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. 4. Discounted rates on all excursions for SENIC members. 5. Priority ticket purchases for SENIC members To join SENIC please read and fill in the SENIC application form provided at the back of this brochure. You can join the club when you buy your ticket for the first event (in most cases the discount for club members offsets the price of membership). PLEASE NOTE: You can only buy a maximum of two tickets per person. Simply bring your completed form with 2.00 joining fee on any of the dates that tickets are sold. Annual membership fee: 2
Saturday 4 October 2014 Loch Lomond, Trossachs National Park and Stirling Castle Spend a day in the majestic beating heart of Scotland; a land of ancient fortresses, flowing streams, lochs, forests and hills, a land of kings, heroes, thieves and rogues. Departing Edinburgh first we travel west to Scotland s largest, dynamic modern city, Glasgow. We then cross the Firth of Clyde, arriving at Britain s largest expanse of fresh water, Loch Lomond. The tour will stop for lunch in the village of Aberfoyle gateway to the Trossachs. The final stop will be Stirling Castle, Scotland s most strategically important fortress. Saturday 15 November 2014 St Andrews, the fishing villages and Dunfermline Abbey BUY TICKETS: 13 Members 5/11/14 2pm 4pm, The Glass Office, Craiglockhart Campus 15 Non-members 6/11/14 10am 12am, The Student Hub, Merchiston Campus Journey through the ancient Kingdom of Fife. Famed for its picturesque fishing villages, medieval palace, castles and the town, St Andrews home of golf, an ancient seat of learning, and last known resting place of the bones of St Andrew. Pick-up point: Front gate of Merchiston Campus, Edinburgh Napier University Departs: 9.30am Returns: 6.30pm approximately 49 Places available Useful link: www.saint-andrews.co.uk We will visit Falkland, another charming village, dominated by its 16th century palace, home of Mary, Queen of Scots, and its real Tennis court the oldest still in use in Europe. Heading home, we will travel through the heart of the Lomond Hills, descending to Loch Leven on the way back to Edinburgh.
Saturday 7 February 2015 Oban, West Highland Lochs and Castle This tour will show you a landscape of outstanding natural beauty, rich in history, myths and legends; a land of battles, feuds and cattle-stealing; a land of ancient castles mirrored in lochs and sheltered by mountains. The Road to the Isles is marked by dramatic castles, shimmering lochs, imposing mountains and rugged glens. You will enjoy stops at Oban with its Horseshoe Bay looking out to the Hebrides, and Inveraray with its demure Georgian houses at the water s edge in the shadow of the Clan Campbell chief s neo-gothic palace. This tour is a must for all a fantastic way to see the Scottish countryside.
