The first stop will be the Sapienza Refuge (1.986 mt), where we will explore the last eruptions and the old Silvestri Craters. Then we will trek through a Nature Path of Etna Park and will enjoy the breathtaking view over the Bove Valley. The excursion will continue with the visit of a lava cave and the last stop will be Zafferana, where we will visit one of the most famous organic farms for a delicious sampling of typical products such as honey, wine, etc. We will return to the Hotel in the early afternoon. ETNA & TAORMINA (9 h) Our excursion will begin with a walk through nature to discover the most beautiful places of Etna. The first stop will be the Rifugio Sapienza (1.986 mt) where it will be possible to enjoy a walk amongst the old Silvestri craters of the eruption of 1892. The excursion will continue with the visit of a cave of lava flow, formed in 1792. Then we will stop in Zafferana Etnea, where we will visit one of the most famous organic farms for a delicious sampling of typical products such as honey, wine, etc. After the tasting, we will move to Taormina, but first we will stop at the wonderful Isola Bella, a Wildlife Reserve considered the pearl of the Ionian sea for its natural beauty, connected to the mainland by a thin strip of sand. From here it is possible to admire the bay, and the promontories of Capo S. Andrea, that hosts the renowned Grotta Azzurra (The Blue Cave), and of Capo Taormina. It is possible to bathe in these marvelous crystal clear waters. For lunchtime everyone is free. After lunch (not included) we will visit the pictur-esque town of Taormina. Along the main road of this town, Corso Umberto, with the Messina Gate below and the Catania Gate on the mountain side, we will admire the most important monuments: Palazzo Corvaja (The Corvaja Palace) (Museum of Arts and Folk Traditions*), the Teatro Antico* (The Old Theatre),Piazza IX Aprile, the Torre dell orologio (The Clock Tower), the Cattedrale Fortezza (The Fortress Cathedral), the Badia Vecchia (The Old Abbey), and the Palazzo Duca di Santo Stefano (TheDuke of Saint Stephen Palace), and much more. It will also be possible to go shopping in the exclusive shops among the shops selling handicrafts. TAORMINA, GIARDINI NAXOS & CASTELMOLA (5h) Our tour will begin by visiting the fishing town of Giardini Naxos, the first greek colony in Sicily, founded in 734 b.c. The excursion will start with the visit to the Archaeological park of Neapolis (from Greek new city ) that hosts the majority of classical monuments of Greek and Roman Syracuse. It s the most representative area of ancient Greek city, with large green spaces where walking through an old Roman street, you can get many important archaeological monuments: the Greek theatre used for classical performances, Roman amphitheatre, the Latomie with the Ear of Dyonisius and Cordary s cave, the Ara of Ierone and The Church of San Nicolò ai Cordari. Then, we will visit the Ortygia Island, the heart of Syracuse, and among Greek temples, Christian churches, Arabian Streets, important old palaces, we will visit The Arethusa Source and the Duomo square, (with its irregular shape, is surrounded by some beautiful baroque palaces, the Beneventano del Bosco Palace, the Senate Palace and the Saint Lucia church). After lunch (that is not included), the tour continues by visiting Noto, a unique town for its Sicilian Baroque style, which was declared to be a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. The town of Noto is a true "open air museum", where it will be possible to enjoy the walk along the main street, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, and admire the many palaces. - GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS AGREEMENT - BOOKING - CONFIRMATION All tours have to be booked with Gartour by e-mail (gartour@gartour.net or through our web site www.gartour.it). Some tours/excursions are on Free Sale basis (with automatic confirmation), while other tours/excursion are On Request and can be considered valid only after our booking confirmation. Upon confirmation we will advise whether free pick-up service from hotel is possible (if so, we will advise pick-up time) or if clients will have to make their own way to meeting point to join the tour. All the rates indicated are in and intended per person. PICK-UP IN HOTEL / PRESENTATION AT MEETING POINT For those tours including pick-up from hotel, clients have to be in the lobby of hotel waiting for tour representative on time. Then clients will be accompanied to the meeting point and shown the particular bus or guide for their specific tour in their language (please note that all tours may be performed in more than one language). IMPORTANT: At certain times there may be unforseen delays in the arranged pick-up times but we kindly request clients to wait in the hotel lobby. For those tours not including pick-up from hotel, we ask to all clients to be at the designated meeting points at the advised time in order participate (usually meeting time is 15-20 minutes prior departure). No reimbursement wil be granted to clients who is not at the indicated place of pick-up/departure at the time established. Similarly, no reimbursement will be granted to clients who depart the tour prematurely, lose contact with the guide or who do not complete the tour/excursion. CHANGES & CANCELLATIONS It may happen that, due to operational difficulties or reasons beyond our control (travel conditions, strikes, changes in opening hours, closure of museums, delays or other unforseen circumstances) tour providers may be forced to change or cancel a tour. Tour companies reserve the right to cancel a tour without prior notice due to reasons beyond their control with the only obligation of reimbursing the cost of the tour. In this case, clients may claim reimbursement only of the amount paid. In the event of unforessen schedule or itinerary changes beyond control, tour companies reserve the right to provide no reimbursement. LIABILITY Gartour and partnering tour companies are not responsible for any loss of personal valuables, luggage or objects during excursions, or for any loss of personal items which are left on tour coaches, or for any damage casued by third parties to personal items during the tour. We are not also responsible for partial or total closures of museums, monuments and churches, delays or irregularities caused by third parties. Then an alternative itinerary and visits to other museums wil be proposed, without any variation to the established tariff, and clients will be informed prior to departure. In the event of unforeseen schedule or itinerary changes beyond control, tour companies reserve the right to not grant any reimbursements. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND NOTES Please note that Italian laws do not permit selling alcoholic beverage to teens under 18 years of age; therefore clients under-age will be served non-alcoholic beverages. We regret that not all the tours are accessible to guests with wheelchairs or physical impairments requiring special assistance. Please let us know in advance of any special needs or clients' impaired mobility in order to determine whether participation in a particular tour is possible. COMPLAINTS Any client complaint must be communicated to Gartour in writing within and no later than 10 working days after the date of the tour. Thereafter Gartour is not obliged to review complaints and no reimbursements will be approved.
