The castle is nuzzled in Vendée & Charente's captivating countryside and it's simply awe-inspiring. That said, you won't cross paths with many others, the local wildlife has ruffled a few feathers with the neighbours so they tend to stay away. But don't let that discourage you, inside lies a world of splendour. Ornate wallpaper, rich tapestries, antique furniture and chandeliers decorate the glamorous four floors. And it's all yours to explore: 5 unique bedrooms, luscious pool and the exquisite French garden your days will never have been better spent! Though the castle is spacious, the West Wing is forbidden to visitors rumour has it, the 900-year-old curse will be awakened Don't worry, there's still plenty opportunity to have fun; get lost in the treasuretrove library, have a sing-along by the piano, get competitive over billiards or take a stroll around the castle's ruins. The castle is quirky, gothic and unconventional who knows when a prince will come and sweep you off your feet. Interior & Grounds Ground Floor Access is through a few steps, leading into a magnificent medieval dining room with antique wallpapers and a gothic large working fireplace (wood is provided!). This is also a cosy rest-room with a nice library, piano and billiard table. The adjacent kitchen is well equipped for 10 people, offering a splendid view over the charming, sheltered french garden, enhanced by colourful flowers and a trellis laced with climbing roses. First Floor (sleeps 2) This enchanting medieval suite features a splendidly painted domed ceiling, a large bed (160cx200 cm) with en-suite bathroom with a nice, romantic view. It comprises of an Italian shower, a bathtub and a separate toilet. Second Floor (sleeps 4) Here you will find 2 connecting rooms: the Maillé suite and the Chevaliers room. The former boasts a large double bed (which can be transformed into 2 beds) whereas the latter has 2 single beds. There is also a shared bathroom with bathtub with separate shower and 2 WCs. Third Floor (sleeps 4) This level features an extremely refined apartment made up of 2 connecting rooms: the Belle Ecossaise suite and the Duguesclin room. The former has is large room with a king size bed (can be separated into 2 singles) whereas the latter is a smaller room with a king size bed and a large en-suite bathroom with two sinks, a bathtub with shower and a separate toilet. It is a very special opportunity to enjoy a real French dinner served with precious china and silver cutlery and exquisite table settings. Price from 55 euros per person. Location & Local Information There is a village close by where you will find a bakery, chemistry and supermarket (open every day till 7.30 p.m and on Sunday morning). There is a tennis court in the village which is within walking distance. There are excellent golf courses and horse riding possibilities within 15-25 minutes from the castle. If you wish to try local restaurants, we recommend going to la Bergelière in la Flocelliere at 5 minutes' walk (menus from 20 euros per person), to Les 3 Piliers (5 km) or Auberge du Mont Mercure (2km). On your request we can arrange grocery delivery directly at the chateau! Terms & Conditions - Security deposit: 500 holiday rental. 800 wedding + credit card held - Arrival time: 15.00 - Departure time: 11.00 - Energy costs included?: Included in the rental price. - Linen & towels included?: Included in the end of stay cleaning fee. (Extra towels: 5 for 2 towels). - Pets welcome?: Dogs may be allowed on request at a supplement of 80/week). - End of stay cleaning included?: 150 (the house has to be left in order with no garbage) - Smoking Allowed?: No smoking in the property. - Insurance: It is recommended that all guests take out insurance to cover against potential cancellation and any accidental damage caused during your stay at the property. - Heating costs included?: General heating at 20º and wood included. Oil stove for complimentary heating at 50 for a 5L can. - Changeover day: Any day of the week. - Tax: 0.80 per day and per person - Other Ts and Cs: Extra beds: 80 per bed per week - Other 2: Children under 8 are not accepted. Swimming pool : the swimming pool (14m x 6m) is shared with other guests. The swimming pool is not available for small children. They must be under full parental control and responsibility.the heated pool is open from June to September from 9 am to 7 pm. - The client will be asked to provide a credit card at the time of arrival - The castle declines any responsibility for accidents occurring to the guests during their stay. - We request peace and quiet in front of other guests at any time. - Any damage will be subject to a repair or replacement. - The chateau reserves the right to charge the client's credit card with any unpaid charges discovered after the client has checked out.
