Conclusions Surprisingly large number of sites available from East Midlands Clear value of developer funded archaeology to our understanding of Roman rural settlement in the region, contributing to our understanding of the chronological, morphological and architectural development of sites in the region Results from Roman Rural Settlement Project so far largely supporting patterns previously recognised, but providing firmer evidence for many trends Significant intra-regional variation, which requires further investigation in the future
