Absent Directors: Win Adams Meeting Minutes Motion by John Kinnard, seconded by Bob Johnson to approve minutes of November 04, 2004 meeting. Motion carried. Treasurer s Report Jim Camery See Report. Motion by Bob Johnson, seconded by John Kinnard to approve Treasurer s Report. Motion carried. A discussion was started regarding increasing fees for advertising in Boathouse magazine and dropping the 1 (800) BSLOL telephone number due to lack of use and high costs. It was decided that more research will have to be done. Membership John Kinnard Approximately 180 people have yet to renew their memberships according to the international ACBS chapter. There are an estimated 495 present members of the club. Advertising & Sponsorship Jim Camery discussed getting an updated boat ownership list from the DNR to possibly try and send out extra copies of the BoatHouse or club post cards to owners of older boats not yet members of the club. Jim Camery and Paul Brunswick are going to help getting the sponsorship committee started for the club. Minneapolis Boat Show: January 19 23 All boats have been decided upon and times were discussed as to when boat owners should show up at the convention center. Peggy Merjanian will be printing out bios for the boats entered into the show. The board also discussed possible ways to reduce costs at the show. One of those was researching a cell phone with a credit card swiper. Rendezvous: September 10-11 Jeff Stebbins has confirmed that Maynard s wants us back this year. Bayport Marina & National Marina Day: August 13-14 We have met with the management and they want us back this year for National Marina Day in Bayport. A discussion was started about trying to get more advertising for the event this year to attract more visitors. The board made a consensus decision to participate in National Marina Day at Bayport Marina.

January 06, 2005 Page 2 Aquatennial John Tuttle and Mark Setterholm will go ahead and start planning this years event. Winter Education Workshops The only confirmed workshop is Feb. 19 th at the Prop Shop in Hudson, WI. Decisions will be made soon to setup the March and April workshops. BSLOL Library Eric Theship has said that it would be ok to store BSLOL s library materials at his place. Mark Nelson has also volunteered to store the library materials and his home in Elk River. BoatHouse Peggy stressed that more articles needed for future issues. A discussion was also started regarding getting more advertisers for the magazine and that we need someone to replace Dave Donner as an advertising salesperson to find companies willing to advertise and help out the club. Nominations Bob Johnson and Mark Setterholm elected to 1 year terms as Directors at Large. Motion by John Kinnard. Motion carried. Motion seconded by Peggy Merjanian. Additional Items Brad Ernst and Scott Hawkinson will work together to put together more information or rules on receiving boats donated to the club. Meeting Minutes Motion by Bob Johnson, seconded by John Kinnard to approve minutes of January 06, 2005 meeting. Motion carried. Treasurer s Report Jim Camery No Report. Membership John Kinnard Nothing new to report. Approximately 10 new members from the Mpls. Boat Show. Boat Shows BoatHouse Minneapolis Boat Show: January 19 23 Attendance was poor this year due to bad weather and poor advertising. We had a great turnout of help this year. Rendezvous: September 10-11 Jeff Stebbins has confirmed that Maynard s wants us back this year. A committee needs to be formed to continue to help plan this years event. Bayport Marina & National Marina Day: August 13-14 The organizing committee met to discuss the event during the last month and presented the board with a list of information discussed in that meeting. See committee notes. There was a discussion about 2 mini-cruises on the St. Croix the Thursday and Friday prior to the show. The board decided to move the scheduled club cruise that Wednesday to the following week. It was reported that there was already some financial support from Sea Ray boats for the event. Nothing to report. Nominations Dave Doner elected to 1 year term as Director at Large. Motion by John Kinnard, seconded by Bob Johnson. Motion carried.

April 30 th at Lyn Mattson s workshop. Topic electrical systems. BSLOL Library It has been decided to store the library at Mark Nelson s home. A date was set for the 26 th of February. Andreas will call Dirk Gunder to see if that day will work. Spring Kickoff Spring kickoff for 2005 will be at Al & Almas on Sunday May 22 nd. Greg Benson has volunteered as a phone contact for the event to help set that up. Boat Donations Brad Ernst passed out some preliminary rules on boat donations to the club and the board was asked to look it over and email comments to Brad for the next meeting in March. Telephone Equipment The board decided it was time to disconnect the BSLOL main telephone number which also includes the 1 (800) number. This will save the club approximately $500 annually. This was motioned by Greg Benson and seconded by Jim Camery. Motion carried. The board also discussed just publishing the number of the event coordinator in the BoatHouse and mailings as the contact for the event instead of using the BSLOL number. More research will be done for next month s meeting reguarding a wireless credit card machine. DNR Lists Jim Camery did some calling to get a copy of the Wisconsin DNR watercraft list. Brad Ernst had some initial setbacks getting a list from Minnesota but will check a couple of other contacts. A motion was made by Bob Johnson and seconded by John Kinnard to purchase the DNR list from Wisconsin. Motion carried but was opposed by Greg Benson. Storage Locker The board discussed possibly purchasing an enclosed trailer (new or used) to store our equipment in and save the $840/year in storage costs. The only problem was where to store the trailer. More research will be done on prices for trailers and where to store the trailer if purchased.

February 03, 2005 Page 3 New Business A proposed legislative bill by the Minnesota House of Representatives was passed around to the board reguarding a single transferable license for collector boats. It was decided that Andreas Rhude would try to send a letter to the author of the bill stating the clubs support for the bill. Old Business Greg Benson brought up our 501c3 renewal to try and get permanent 501c3 status from the government. Legal help was requested in filling out the forms. Received check for back payments on Hacker, payments are now up to date. Membership John Kinnard Current list is 412 members, 102 have not yet renewed. Boat Shows BoatHouse Minneapolis Boat Show: January 19 23 A captain is needed to plan for the show in January 2006. Rendezvous: September 10-11 A committee still needs to be formed to continue to help plan this year s event. There was discussion about possibly printing t-shirts for this years show at Maynard s. Bayport Marina & National Marina Day: August 13-14 Planning still continues. Sponsors are continuing to come in and look really good. We have 39 boats registered and 72 people registered so far. Mark Sauer and Joel Lemanski have decided to make the awards to be given out at this years show. The next committee meeting is scheduled for Tuesday the 8 th of March. Need updates on advertisers; specifically we need payments for those ads that continue to be printed in the BoatHouse. Jim Camery will try to put together a list of current advertisers. There was a discussion about possibly getting Stanley Hubbard to do a member spotlight in the coming issues of the BoatHouse.

DNR Lists Jim Camery has received the updated DNR boat registration list from the State of Wisconsin. The board has decided to try and send out postcards to those that have wooden boats registered in Wisconsin but live in Minnesota. New Business Dan Schlegel will try and contact the person who hosts our BSLOL website to see if we could setup a club email address directly linked with the club website (-----@acbs-bslol.com). There was also talk about putting together some contracts for those who store the club library or store the club storage trailer. Spring Kickoff May at Al & Alma s John Kinnard will try and send out an evite soon. Little Log House Antique Power Show We were invited to attend the show in southern Minnesota this summer and ask members to possibly bring down boats to display at the show. 30 th Rendezvous: September 10-11 Committee met for the first time and got planning started for this years event at Maynard s. The committee would like special ideas for the 30 th anniversary. The next committee meeting is scheduled for April 28 th. A committee chair is still needed to organize the event. Bayport Marina & National Marina Day: August 13-14 Planning still continues. Approximately $6,000 has been raised in advertising. The committee has been told that approximately 19 Amphi-cars might show up at the event.

April 07, 2005 Page 2 Wisconsin & Minnesota DNR Lists Wisconsin mailings will be sent out soon. BoatHouse Jerry Peterson has been writing new articles for the BoatHouse. New articles are always needed. Invoices have been sent out for renewals on advertisers in the BoatHouse, nothing has been seen yet for payments. Please send all leads to Jim Camery for advertising. New Business Someone will try to get an article written for the BoatHouse about webmaster Gary Baker. Old Business Dan Schlegel contacted webmaster Gary Baker about questions regarding our website. Dan would like to put together budgets for the upcoming boat shows this summer from information provided by the boat show committee s. Membership John Kinnard Current 2005 memberships 529. See Report. Telephone Hotline Andreas brought up the fact that the BSLOL telephone hotline and 1 (800) numbers were still up and running. Motion by Bob Johnson and seconded by John Kinnard to keep both numbers active until this fall then drop the 1 (800) number and then review costs. Website It was brought to the board s attention that our current webmaster is resigning from taking care of the BSLOL website. Mark Nelson has volunteered to come up with more information on companies to host the website if needed and would try and maintain the website for the club if needed. Winter Workshops It was brought up that about half of the people that signed up for the last workshop did not show up. We need to try and have people who sign up for the workshops communicate back to the organizers of the event that they will or will not be coming so that we can minimize costs of food for the workshops. Spring Kickoff at Al & Alma s May 22nd Reservations are needed for the dinner. The meal will be served at 5:00 pm.

The board will try and contact Doug Johnson about volunteering to enter his 1953 Chris Craft & 1953 Chevy pickup into the parade. John Tuttle said he will try and write an article for the BoatHouse on last years Aquatennial parade and ask for volunteers to bring boats. 30 th Rendezvous: September 10-11 We have an agreement with Maynard s restaurant and we have been asked to make a $1,000 donation to the chamber of commerce. We have our first sponsorship from the Thompson Boat Club. Boat displays on-land will be allowed this year at the show. Lifestyle magazine has asked us about trading ads in magazines for the event. Andreas will be calling and clarifying issues with Maynard s on allowing vehicles on-land and advertising. The next Rendezvous planning meeting will be May 19 th. Bayport Marina & National Marina Day: August 13-14 The planning committee has told the board that they have received approval to enter a boat in the memorial parade. Wisconsin & Minnesota DNR Lists Nothing new to report. We still need a postcard created, printed and addressed. BoatHouse Invoices have been sent out for advertising renewal. We still need to get the publication back on track. There was talk about possibly going from 6 to 4 issues a year due to the lack of articles submitted. Mark Nelson and Steve Merjanian will hopefully talk more about this in the next month. Winter Workshops - 2006 We need a captain to start organizing and planning workshops for the winter of 2006. Brad Ernst has volunteered to take this on. Spring Kickoff at Al & Alma s May 22nd Approximately 22 23 people showed up for the event. A good time was had by all. Aquatennial John Tuttle submitted the application for the show. We need to contact Doug Johnson and see if he wants a part in decorating his truck and boat for the parade, John Tuttle and Mark Setterholm will try and contact him and discuss this. John Tuttle would still like to have 5 volunteers bring their boats to the event after the parade.

The next meeting is June 9 th. Bayport Marina & National Marina Day: August 13-14 Nothing to report. Minnesota Lakes Maritime Museum The museum has asked us to submit our mailing list to help them in sending out mailings to our members. Motion failed to pass for sending out our list for their use due to privacy act. John Laidlaw will try and put together a draft of a privacy act statement for our members by the next board meeting. Wisconsin & Minnesota DNR Lists Nothing new to report. BoatHouse More articles have started to come in. There was more discussion regarding the board members writing small articles about their positions. Jim Camery had a couple of new advertising leads including 3M. It was decided to go from 6 to 4 issues a year with the BoatHouse beginning the 1 st of the year, motioned by Paul Brunswick seconded by Brad Ernst, opposed by Andreas Rhude and Jim Camery. A motion was passed by Dan Schlegel and seconded by Scott Hawkinson to form a subcommittee on moving from 6 issues a year to 4. The subcommittee will consist of Dan Schlegel, Peggy Merjanian, Greg Benson and Scott Hawkinson. Minneapolis Boat Show Jim Camery has volunteered as the show captain and will start talking with the show organizers. New Business Dan Schlegel proposed using Vonage as our new phone company. This would take our monthly costs from about $47.41 a month to $22 with both the BSLOL phone numbers (hotline and 1-800). Without the 1-800 number it would drop to around $17 a month. An evite will be sent out to members asking them to display their boats in the parking lot. Alexandria Boat Show We have been asked if we would like to co-sponsor the Alexandria boat show. The board will continue to discuss this at future meetings. More research needs to be done about insurance liability issues. BSLOL Property Inventory Information was given to Dan Schlegel for him to start to put together a BSLOL inventory list of the clubs property. Members brought 8 boats for display on land during the event. 30 th Rendezvous: September 10-11 A proposal was put forth to place a box out for people to donate for the hurricane relief effort. CitiGroup will have matching funds for whatever would be donated. Motion by Bob Johnson and seconded by Brad Ernst to have BSLOL donate $500 to the relief effort. A second motion was brought by Dave Doner and seconded by John Tuttle to approve a $500 charge for a DJ to bring his own equipment to the show for music and announcements. Events 30 th Rendezvous: September 10-11 This year s show went very well, many cruisers showed up this year. Paid attendance was down from the previous year. We had 1,041 paid spectators this year. We had some issues with Maynard s in regards to parking issues. They did not want BSLOL members or guests parking in their lots. Jeff Stebbins called Maynard s and talked with the owner and seemed to have worked out the problems and we are now invited back next year. Albert Lea, July 2006 The club will be supporting this event in July 2006. Minneapolis Boat Show The new owners have told us that we will no longer be receiving a payment of $10,000 to display boats at the boat show this year, but they do want us back this year. We will have to decide on a fee for the show this year. We have many volunteers to bring boats to this years show already. The Sea Scouts from the Bayport show have approached the club and asked if they could help out at the show in exchange for a table to advertise for memberships.

October 06, 2005 Page 2 Aquatennial We want to participate; we just need to get a show captain nominated for the show in 2006. Bayport/St. Croix Show Should we be a part of the show in the coming year? They would like us back again in 2006. A motion was made by John Kinnard and seconded by Dave Doner to be a part of the show again and to start to put together a committee and plan next years show. Winter Workshops Brad Ernst has started to work on dates and events for our winter workshops this year. Holiday Party & Nominations It was suggested to go back to the University Club in St. Paul on the 11 th of December for this year s holiday party. Jim Camery s sister has volunteered to help plan the event and do invitations. The following directors terms are up at the end of the year: President Andreas Jordahl Rhude, John Tuttle, John Laidlaw and Dave Doner. The following directors have volunteered to be on the ballot for next year s election: Dan Schlegel for Treasurer, Mark Nelson for Secretary and Jim Camery for President. We will try and get ballots in the holiday party invitation. BoatHouse The committee still needs to meet regarding issues moving from 6 issues to 4 issues of the BoatHouse each year. It was discussed having the BoatHouse published in the following months: January, April, July and October. Sponsorship Committee Something needs to be documented as to how sponsorship & advertising happens for the boat shows. Jim Camery will try and put a policy together on possibly having someone paid to get advertisers for the club. Boat Donation Policy Brad Ernst has a draft started of the policy but it still needs to be discussed and finalized. Storage Trailer Toro is selling a bunch of 16 foot dual-axle enclosed trailers for between $2,500 and $3,000. Andreas will stop by and take a look at the trailers and get back to the board.

Minneapolis Boat Show Andreas heard back from the organizers of the show and found out that we will be getting our full $10,000 payment like we had last year. We have many boats available for the show we just need to get them organized. Winter Workshops Brad Ernst has started to work on dates and events for our winter workshops this year. The only show setup so far is February 11 th, 2006 at Lester Prairie (Mahogany Bay). The BoatHouse won the best magazine of the year for 2005 from the ACBS. Instead of using months for the names of the 4 new BoatHouse issues it was thought we might use winter, spring, summer and fall instead.

November 03, 2005 Page 2 Sponsorship Committee Jim Camery did some more research and talked with Suza Gosh and she expressed some interest in pursuing the commissioned advertiser s position. We have to try and form a committee to put together an information packet on the requirements of the position. Jim will try and draft up some requirements and guidelines for the position.
