TECHNICAL REVIEW PANEL Technical Review Panel is established to examine and consider all application / development within the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of George Town.
All applications for Planning Permission and Building Plan in the World Heritage Site need to be refered to the Technical Review Panel for consideration / recommendation Heritage Impact Assessment (HIA) Report need to be submitted by independent consultant as a supporting documents for application of Planning Permissionin in the World Heritage Site to be reviewed by the Technical Review Panel.

REGULATION / GUIDE LINES FOR HERITAGE AREA / BUILDINGS To use the existing buiding materials of the heritage buildings or similar/equavalent materials (ie: clay /terracotta roof, lime plaster, timber floor, etc) To maintain the existing elements/ features of the heritage buildings (ie: air well, five foot way, windows, doors, roof, etc) Height of building/new building maximum allowed is 18 meters (measured from ground level to the roof eave) but can be lowered than 18 meters subject the existing height of the existing / neighboring buildings.
