Modhera: The Sun temple of Modhera is one of the finest examples of Indian architecture of its period. Patan: Patan was an ancient Hindu Capital and still has more than 100 Jain Temples and is famous for its beautifully designed Patola silk saris. A jeep safari will take you to the Little Rann of Kutch to see the rare species of the Indian Wild Ass. The Little Rann Kutch is a unique ecosystem. The Little Rann and 'the last place where a few surviving specimens (three thousand) dell'onagro, the Indian wild ass (EquushemionusKhur), an ancient animal that the Sumerians used to pull carts. DAY 02: LITTLE RANN OF KUTCH BHUJ (280KMS/5HRS) Today we drive to Bhuj. Bhuj, a flourishing walled city is the most important town in the Kutch area. and capital of the former native state of Kutch. The old walled of Bhuj presents a picture of contrasts with its narrow streets and ancient monuments in the vicinity of the planned township of Gandhidham and the modern port of Kandla. This place is a paradise of handicrafts and lifestyle lovers. There are some villages in Bhuj which are rich in craft and culture. Upon arrival check in at hotel. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Bhuj including visit to Kutch Museum, Prag Mahal and Aina Mahal Palace KUTCH MUSEUM The Kutch Museum, formerly known as the Fergusson Museum, was founded by Maharao Khengarji III in 1877 AD. is the oldest museum in Gujarat. The museum has a large collection of Kshatrapa inscriptions, various archaeological objects, arms and specimens of various crafts of the Kutch region. Museum remains closed on Wednesdays, Public holidays and on 02 nd & 04 th Saturdays. PRAG MAHAL Prag Mahal was constructed by Rao Pragmalji II (1838-76 AD). Designed by Architect, Colonel Henry Saint Wilkins, it took about 10 years to get built at the cost of 20 lakh rupees. AINA MAHAL PALACE Aina Mahal Palace was built by Rao Lakhpatji in 1750 AD. Aina Mahal is a part of a large palace complex. It is a two storey building with Darbar Hall, hall of mirrors, and suites for royal family. The Aina Mahal or the hall of mirrors is constructed with Venetian glass. The Hall of mirror has white marble walls which are covered with mirrors and gilded ornaments and the floor is lined with tiles. Overnight at hotel. DAY 03: BHUJ Full day excursion to Banni villages (North Bhuj) Amidst the Desert land of infinite dimensions, are suspended, quaint little villages. These are the last villages on the India-Pakistan border. Here you will come across master craft people' exposing their traditional art, turning our master pieces every day. You feel as if you have stepped into lifestyle museum leaving you spellbound.
Evening visit the beautiful White Rann. Overnight at Bhuj. DAY 04: BHUJ MANDVI (62kms/1.5hrs) BHUJ Today we go for an excursion tour to Mandvi. Mandvi is located on the banks of the Rukmavatiriver, barely one km away from the Arabian Sea at the Gulf of Kutch and was a summer retreat of the Kutch Maharaos. The center of attraction at Mandvi is the Vijay Vilas Palace, a royal abode set in the middle of well-laid gardens with water channels and marble fountains. The Vijay Vilas Palace has its own private beach, maintained in an eco-friendly manner to preserve its pristine beauty. Mandvi has some very beautiful houses belonging to rich merchants with stone carving & plaster decorations. Their architectural style reflects the fusion of Indian & European styles of architecture. The Swaminarayan temple is also one such example with its brightly painted exterior and elaborate plaster decorations. Overnight stay at Mandvi. DAY 05 BHUJ - AHMEDABAD (450kms/07hrs) After breakfast drive to Ahmedabad enroute visiting Bhujodi village. Bhujodi :A small town just 8 km southeast of Bhuj, is a major textile center of Kutch, with the vast majority of the 1200 inhabitants involved in textile handicraft production. Here you can meet weavers, tie-dye artists and block printers, most of whom belong to the Vankar community. Many will let you watch them work; just ask around. About a kilometer from Bhujodi is the Ashapura Crafts Park; artisans display and sell their work and organizes dance and music events on weekends. The Shrujan campus is an interesting place to visit, with embroidery exhibits, a production center and excellent examples of local architecture with environmental awareness in mind. DAY 06: DEPARTURE FROM AHMEDABAD AIRPORT Today morning check out from hotel and proceed for Sightseeing of Ahmedabad later proceed to Airport /Railway Station. Sightseeing of Ahmedabad included: Jamma Masjid: The Friday mosque was built by the city s founder, Sultan Ahmed Shah, in 1423. Built of yellow sandstone in an architectural style that combines the best of Muslim & Hindu traditions. It stands on 260 pillars that support 15 domes at varying elevations. Teen Darwaja: The triple-arched gateway was built by Sultan Ahmed Shah to serve as the royal entrance to the Maidan Shahi or the Royal Square. Siddi Saiyed Mosque: -One part of the wall in the old citadel of the mosque built by Ahmed Shah s slave, Sidi Sayed, is celebrated the world over for its exquisite stone window tracery a superb & peerless example of delicate carving that transforms stone into filigree. Hutheesingh Jain Temple: Built outside the Delhi Gate in 1850 by a rich Jain merchant, the Hutheesing Temple is the best known of Ahmedabad s many ornate Jain temples. Gandhi Ashram: On a quiet peaceful stretch of the Sabarmati river, Mahatma Gandhi set up a simple retreat in 1915. This was his Satyagrah Ashram and for many years it was the nerve centre of India s freedom movement. Adalaj Step-Well: It is situated 17kms north of Ahmedabad. The step well at the village of Adalaj is another fine example of this magnificent architectural form.
