Island Ranch Water Wheel Griffith Homestead Basque Birch is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It and nearby Morrison ranches were originally homesteaded by Basque sheepherders in the early 1900s. They consist of 288 acres of land, structures, and buildings acquired by BLM in 1988. Caretakers reside on site.
