Additional Information Tennessee Sales Tax Note that only organizations classified as 501(c)3 by the IRS are able to get Tennessee Tax Exempt Certificates. If your unit is classified as such, you can follow the steps below to acquire a tax exempt certificate for Tennessee. Direct Link: http://tennessee.gov/assets/entities/revenue/attachments/f1306901.pdf Steps: 1. Go to this Website: http://www.tn.gov/revenue/article/forms-sales-and-use-tax 2. Click on Application for Sales and Use Tax Exempt Entities or State and Federally Chartered Credit Unions under Exemptions. 3. Print the one-page application and one-page instruction sheet. 4. Fill out the application and mail it to the address listed on the instruction sheet. 5. Allow six weeks for processing. 6. Any questions call the Tennessee Revenue Office at 615-253-0600. 7.
