Sydenstricker School Summer Camp 2017

Dear Parents and Guardians, Welcome to Sydenstricker s 2017 Summer Camp. We could not be more excited about all the fun that is in store for this summer! I wanted to send a quick letter to welcome you all, introduce myself, and go over a few things. My name is Emily Slovensky, I am the Summer Camp Director at Sydenstricker School. I graduated from Longwood University with a degree in Liberal Studies- Elementary Education in May 2017. I have been working at Sydenstricker since August 2012. If you need anything throughout the summer, please do not hesitate to call or email me! Joining us this summer are staff members from the school year, Ms. Dillon, Ms. Grace, Ms. Lollar, Ms. Clark 1, Ms. Clark 2, Ms. Saron, Mrs. Chen, Ms. Harmeyer, Ms. Serine, Mrs. Cruz and Mrs. Moody. Also joining us are previous staff members, Ms. Becca (who will now go by Ms. Sharp) and Ms. Glynnis (who will now go by Ms. Farleigh). Lastly, new to Sydenstricker and joining our team is Ms. Press. Mrs. Bridgwaters tries to take mini breaks during the summer! J Each week will have a different theme and we have lots of fun crafts, activities, and visitors in store for the summer! If you have any questions please feel free to email me at emily@sydenstrickerschool.com or you may call me starting June 26 th during camp business hours (7AM-6PM) at 703-451-4141. We look forward to a wonderful summer! Emily Slovensky Summer Camp Director

Overview Are your kids ready for an amazing summer adventure? We re here to provide all the fun that summer has to offer, with additional learning experiences to help your camper grow. At Sydenstricker s summer camp your camper will be offered plenty of opportunities to let their imagination soar. With a new theme each week, your camper will participate in a variety of activities with plenty of discoveries about each week s theme. Payments are due at the beginning of the week or monthly! (NO EXCEPTIONS!!!). We don t want to turn anyone away! Each day of the week we will focus on an extra-curricular activity that coincides with the theme of the week. Tuesdays are P.E, Wednesdays are Music, and Thursdays are Art. Your campers will be kept in a routine similar to the school s academic year. The goal of summer camp is to keep your campers soaring with knowledge while experiencing all the fun that summer has to offer. On Thursdays of each week, your camper is more than welcome to dress theme related (no masks, and participation is optional!) On Mondays we may watch a theme related movie that will be announced ahead of time. A light breakfast will be served daily during camp from 7:00AM-7:50AM. Please pack your camper a lunch every day, and remember NO glass and NO nuts or nut derivatives. We are a nut-restricted school and we have a few friends with nut allergies so please be mindful! We will provide three snacks a day for your campers, if they are on a special diet or have allergies and you do not wish for them to participate in summer camp snack please fill out the opt-out form and provide snacks for your camper. We will keep them in a separate container labeled with their name. Please send your camper to summer camp each day with a lunch box and a bag (backpack, school bag) both labeled clearly with their name on it. We encourage that you apply sunscreen to your camper prior to their arrival. If you would like us to reapply sunscreen to them throughout the day please provide sunscreen with your camper s name clearly labeled on it. We will be putting bug spray on your camper when we get outside in the morning and the afternoon, in the summer the mosquitos do get bad, but just because they have bug spray on doesn t mean they won t get bit! Our property is treated by Mosquito Authority. If you do not want your camper to have bug spray, or choose to bring them their own type of bug spray, please fill out the opt-out form. There is also the possibility of ticks when you are outdoors, this can be from your home, walking outside, or from just about anywhere! Just remember to check your camper during bath time to be extra careful. We will conduct 2 fire drills and 1 shelter-in-place drill so we are prepared for emergency situations. Our doors will remain locked while inside the building. All staff members are CPR/First Aid certified. There will be a MAT certified staff member on site at all times. (Medication Administration Trained). We will also have a Daily Health Observer on the premises. We will enforce our Infection Control Policy (see registration info.).
