AIRPORT SECURITY SOLUTIONS

AIRPORT SECURITY SOLUTIONS Freedom of movement, uncompromised security As an international market leader in the entrance control market, Gunnebo understands the high demands made upon state-of-the-art access management solutions by airports and airlines. Despite the continuous increase in security requirements in recent years, the necessity to operate in the most profitable way possible remains unchanged. Gunnebo s physical gate solutions have been individually designed and developed to address all different access management applications encountered within a modern airport. Self-Service, still a buzz-word in the aviation industry, is a concept that passengers have become increasingly accustomed to. 2. Lounge Access Self-Service access-control into executive and member lounges provides a faster and more premium experience for VIP passengers. 2 BOARDING AREA DEPARTURE LOUNGE 3 3. Self boarding gate Self-Service checking of Boarding Passes prior boarding an aircraft. Fully compliant with the latest AEA standards, self-explanatory easy and fast usage for PAX, frees up agents to provide care to passengers requiring special needs or support. Gates come with an interface to the installed Common Use System (CUTE / CUPPS) or a Dedicated PAX handling system. CHECK-IN 1 SECURITY CHECK-IN 1. Pre-security gates for PRS Automated self-service boarding pass check prior to security screening. Highly efficient self-service check if a passenger is holding a valid boarding pass. Gates come with an interface to the AODB or other airport databases for modern PRS (Passenger Reconciliation Systems) 2

From remote home-based check-in to self-service terminals such as self-check-in kiosks, the autonomous journey extends into the airport building and continues in the presentation of boarding passes in front of security, during the passport check at the immigration counter and when boarding the aircraft. Following the latest IATA guidelines, Gunnebo provides the latest and most comprehensive automated gates for all these applications. Increased security, lower labour costs and a fast and convenient PAX journey through the airport are the benefits generated by Gunnebo s solutions. While cost and time savings are without doubt beneficial, the delivery of a high level of security and passenger safety remains the prime feature of Gunnebo s gates. Through its significant experience providing gates within mass transit applications, Gunnebo is able to provide technology which allows for a huge range of passengers to be processed via the latest in smart sensor-based detection systems. Unauthorised entry attempts such as tailgating are reliably detected and passengers with carry-on luggage, such as trolleys or rucksacks are safely recognised. In order to achieve even higher levels of security and enhanced passenger comfort, Gunnebo s Boarding Gates can be equipped with biometric identification systems like Face Recognition cameras or barcode-scanners with NFC-reading capability. 5. Anti-return gates 4 Control of passenger flow from airside to landside without effect on customer experience. Advanced detection system making passages in wrong direction almost impossible. IMMIGRATION BAGGAGE RECLAIM 5 CUSTOMS 5 4. Automated Immigration Self-Service passport checking for border crossing, including biometric verification. Accelerates and automates whilst increasing security but reducing waiting time. 3

AFL SPEED GATES Gunnebo AFL Airport Speed Gates Aesthetics meets reliability The outstanding design of this gate is the result of feedback and requirements from the aviation market. Experience from airports and airlines provided valuable input on how the limitations of other gates on the market could be overcome. This gate offers the smallest space occupation with housing that is only 170mm wide on the entire length. Full-height scratch resistant glass panels moved by an industrial long-lasting motor drive technology guarantee highest security and longest life time. One of the highlights of this gate is the highly sophisticated sensor logic inside the gate. It detects securely any unauthorised passage attempt like tailgating as well as preventing any person with carry-on luggage being hit by the gate panels. On top of this, it is possible to process more than 60 passengers per minute. The features of the gates follow the latest IATA requirements in regards to self-service in general and in particular convenient self-boarding. The optional facial recognition is fully integrated in the gate design and very easy for passengers to use. Without doubt, this gate is the perfect solution for any automated self-service project at airports where limited space is available and where high expectations on aesthetic design and appearance are applied. 4

PRE-SECURITY PreSec AFL Self-service checking of boarding pass validity Within an airport, access to the secured airside area is only granted to those holding a valid boarding pass for a flight departing the same day. The efficiency and speed of this check can be greatly increased by adding Gunnebo s PreSec AFL gates to the manual check points. Through installation of these gates, a modern Passenger Reconciliation System (PRS) is able to fully deliver on the benefits it was designed to provide. Whether the passenger is holding a boarding pass printed at home or at the airport, uses a smart phone or is already geared up for NFC technology, the scanners in Gunnebo s gates can read any form of boarding pass quickly and reliably. In addition to fulfilling the obligation of checking boarding passes prior to the security check, Gunnebo s PresSec AFL gates provide many more benefits. Through serial or TCP/IP based communication between the gates and the AODB (or any other database) valuable data can be collected and useful reports or statistics about passenger behaviour, peak-time traffic and the status of the gates can be generated. When combined with an integrated biometric identification system for example, facial recognition it is possible to execute a secure and hands-free ID check inside the gate. This feature adds a new dimension of ease and security to the passenger experience. Benefits PreSec AFL Greatly reduced labour costs at pre-security Increased throughput (up to 60 passengers per minute) Provision of valuable passenger data and statistics Platform for implementation of accurate queue management Biometric identification With optional extension modules, it is even possible to use the PreSec AFL gates for implementing a highly accurate queue management system. 5

LOUNGE ACCESS Lounge AFL Access Automated lounge access control The boarding pass, together with additional qualification credentials like frequent flyer cards, must be presented and scanned by passengers before entering a lounge operated by an airline or by the airport. This procedure is normally executed by an agent, but of course can be executed conveniently and quickly by passengers themselves using a Lounge Access AFL gate. The Lounge Access AFL gate, connected to the database of the respective airline or lounge operator, provides the self-service that especially frequent travellers are used to and expect from a modern airport. The installation of gates removes the time taken by agents working at the counter of a lounge to interact with passengers who have attempted to enter without the necessary permissions, as well as reducing the waiting times of passengers awaiting entry by offering a fast and direct route. Combined with a biometric identification system such as a facial recognition camera, the Lounge Access AFL provides an even more convenient and simple accesscheck of passengers. The facial data can be captured while the passenger is approaching the gate and compared with the data stored in the airline or operator database. When enrolled it can also be compared with the data stored on the membership card. Benefits Lounge Access AFL Increased speed of service and convenience for important frequent flyer passengers Increased throughput (up to 60 passengers per minute) Provides easy and fast access by avoiding inconvenient waiting times Ready for one-token hands free passage with an optional facial recognition camera 6

BOARDING BoardSec AFL Automated self-boarding Checking the boarding pass of each individual passenger boarding an aircraft is a must for every airline. However, it is a requirement which demands the full attention of those responsible and can be costly in valuable staff time. Using Gunnebo s BoardSec AFL gate the vast majority of passengers are able to check their boarding passes themselves. As with the manual BGR, the confirmation from the related airline host arrives almost instantly. Once received, the gate grants access allowing the passenger to move forward towards the aircraft. The BoardSec AFL gate regulates the flow of passengers onto an aircraft in a safe and secure way, freeing up the valuable time of airport staff and enabling them to concentrate on those passengers that need extra attention and support. Due to the certified full compliance with AEA 2007-2012 standards, the gate can be easily integrated into any Common-Use environment. Even an integration into dedicated environments can easily be realised. Through the integration of an optional biometric identification system it is possible to use Gunnebo s gate not only for domestic but also for international flights. A comparison of the facial image against the enrolled biometric data provides a secure, fast and convenient ID-check inside the gate. Boarding control on CUTE/CLIPPS WAN DCS Benefits BoardSec AFL BoardSec PC and platform (CUSS) Monitoring Remote updates Remote configuration Service application Gate controller Doors Sensors Emergency Pictograms Alarm Biometric ID BP scanner BP printer PAX display Overhead display Huge saving costs in labour and avoidance of costly delays caused by boaording issues Flights can be closed earlier, shorter parking time Shorter waiting time for passengers Relief of manual work from agent who has more time for exception handling Fast, convenient and secure ID Check with biometric identification (e.g. facial) 7

AUTOMATED BORDER CONTROL ImmSec Self-service passport check at border control including biometric verification Border control is one of the most security-sensitive areas in an airport. It requires accurate identification of incoming passengers, an often time-consuming process. Gunnebo s ImmSec immigration gate is an automated solution which accelerates the whole process, while ensuring that only one person is allowed entry per authorised passage. Depending on government legislation, the ImmSec can be equipped with readers for smart ID cards, MRTDs and RFID passports, as well as biometric capture technology. Benefits ImmSec Accelerates the immigration process Automates the entry process and collection of data Increases security with integrated biometrics technology and single passage detection Minimises queues and queuing time Reduces staff costs Disabled compliant Ready for one token hands-free passage with an optional facial recognition camera 8 Single-phase solution 1. Entry access A green arrow indicates that the gate is available for use. As the passenger approaches, the first pair of flaps open to allow the passenger to enter the gate. 2. Entry Passage As the passenger enters the gate, the sensor logic performs a single-person detection to ensure that only one person at a time is entering the gate 3. Identification The first pair of flaps close and the passenger is invited to present his passport or smart card ID to a passport reader installed inside the gate. Passenger identification data is captured and compared to the relevant government databases. 4. Verification Real-time biometric data is matched against the captured data from the passport. 5. Presence single person detection During Identification and Verification an overhead detection system constantly insures that only one person is present inside the gate 6. Exit passage Once all data has been verified the second pair of flaps opens. As the passenger exits the gate, the sensor logic performs a single-person detection to ensure that only one person at a time is passing. 5. Process complete The second pair of flaps closes and the immigration process is completed. A left item detection is conducted. When the gate is clear, the first pair of flaps opens again to allow for the next passenger to be processed. Two-phase solution 1. Entry access A green arrow indicates that the gate is available for use. As the passenger approaches, the passenger is invited to present his passport or smart card ID to a passport reader installed in the front of the gate. Passenger identification data is captured and compared to the relevant government databases. 2. Entry Passage & Verification If the passenger information is accepted, the first pair of flaps open to allow the passenger to enter the gate. At the same time, the sensor logic performs a single-person detection to ensure that only one person at a time is entering the gate 3. Identification The first pair of flaps close and biometric data from the passenger is captured and matched against the captured data from the passport. 5. Presence single person detection During Identification an overhead detection system constantly insures that only one person is present inside the gate 6. Exit passage Once all data has been verified and the passenger identified, the second pair of flaps opens. As the passenger exits the gate, the sensor logic performs a single-person detection to ensure that only one person at a time is passing. 5. Process complete The second pair of flaps closes and the immigration process is completed. A left item detection is conducted. A second passenger can start the process already when the first passenger starts the Identification (step 3).

ANTI-RETURN GATES PasSec Secure passenger flow control from airside to landside The PasSec has been designed to provide free passage por passengers moving from airside to landside areas and prevents them from returning or passing from landside back to airside. They are glass corridors which are usually situated right just before the passenger reachs the baggage reclaim area. This gate is equipped with an array of sophisticated sensors used to detect presence and direction of passage. With additional sensors, left items and thrown-back objects can also be detected, both of which could present a security threat. Since speed and simplicity of movement are critical to achieving good passenger flow, the gates are designed to be fully automatic demanding no interaction and are built to deal with high passenger throughput. PasSec is available as a single or double door module or at its most secure as a double door module with interlocking. Benefits PasSec Controls passenger movement from secure to non-secure areas and prevents passage in the wrong direction Improves security with advanced detection system Allows high throughput with no passenger interaction Reduces staff costs Disabled compliant Advanced detection system, making doubling back almost impossible. Sophisticated sensor detect presence and direction of movement, as well as left items. 9
