Aviation Security Service PO Box 53008 Auckland Airport Phone: 255 6000 SAFETY & SECURITY RULES -PLEASE READ- IDENTITY CARDS (Issued by Aviation Security Service) Persons wishing to access the Security Area or Security Enhanced Area of Auckland Airport must be in possession of an approved identity document. An airport identity card is an approved identity document. When in a Security Area or Security Enhanced Area your airport identity card must be worn on your front outer garment. Your card must be clearly visible at all times. You are only permitted to use your identity card to gain access to, or remain in the Security Area or Security Enhanced Area for the purpose of your duties. If entering or while within a Security Area or Security Enhanced Area you are asked to produce your identity card for inspection by an Aviation Security Officer or authorised person, you must do so. NOTE: Failure to comply with any of the above is an offence against Civil Aviation Rule Part 19.357. The maximum penalty on summary conviction for offences under this Rule is a fine of $5000 or an infringement fee of $2000. If for some reason you cease to be entitled to hold an identity card (for example you terminate your employment) you must forthwith return the card to AVSEC. The card remains the property of the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand. Penalty for failure to surrender the identity card is an infringement fee of $500 or a $1000 fine on summary conviction Remember Wear your identity card Do not lend it to anyone else to use Make sure it is current the card has an expiry date If you lose your card report the loss immediately to AVSEC and Auckland Airport Limited (AAL) Access Administrator to get access capability on the card cancelled
ACCESS CARDS (issued by Auckland Airport Ltd) Access Control Access through doors to the Security Area or Security Enhanced Area is by proximity control. The codes and access are controlled by Auckland Airport Ltd (AAL). Separate access cards can be issued by AAL. If your employer requires you to access the Security Area or the Security Enhanced Area in the course of your work you will need to see AALto obtain an access card. Access cards will only be issued upon application by your employer on your behalf and upon production of a current airport identity card. Your access card is issued for your use only do NOT lend it to anyone else. Access to the Security Area or Security Enhanced Area Do not leave doors, gates or barriers that provide access to the Security Area or Security Enhanced Area open, insecure or uncontrolled. Tailgating through security access doors, gates or barriers is not permitted. All personnel with access capability must individually swipe through. Personnel may, where necessary for work purposes, escort employees who must have an appropriate airport identity card Note: Failure to comply with any of the above is an offence against Civil Aviation Rule Part 19.355. The maximum penalty for an offence against this rule is a fine of up to $2,500 or an infringement fee of $1,000 where applicable. DRIVING PERMITS AND VEHICLE PERMITS If, in the course of your work, you are required to drive a motor vehicle into the Security Area or Security Enhanced Area of the airport you must obtain an Airside Driver s Permit and a Vehicle Permit from AAL otherwise you will be required to be escorted. When driving on the apron or movement areas use the designated roads, wear seat belts & ensure all passengers have a seat inside the vehicle
Do not leave your vehicle or equipment unattended airside unless parked in a designated parking area. Enquiries regarding Airside Driver s Permits and Vehicle Permits can be made by telephoning 255 9071 OTHER RULES Only passengers are permitted to purchase goods in airside shops. Personnel who go airside in the course of their duty and attempt to make duty free purchases contravene the Customs and Tax Laws and may compromise the retailer s license. All goods going airside must be subject to security screening. If you are unsure of your obligations contact AVSEC on 255 6000. No foodstuffs or bio security risk goods are to be landed or returned from airside to landside without the permission of MPI. Warning/Caution Breach of any of these fundamental rules could result in the withdrawal of your identity card and airside access. Prosecution in court may also follow. GENERAL SECURITY As an airport employee you have a part to play in the overall security of Auckland Airport. If you see someone who arouses your suspicion report it to the Police or AVSEC immediately.
If you see an unattended bag that arouses your suspicion report it to AVSEC or AAL Ops immediately. If in a Security Area or Security Enhanced Area and you see someone who is not displaying an airport identity card challenge that person - report it to AVSEC immediately. If you are asked to take something through to the Security Area or Security Enhanced Areas to deliver to another person DO NOT do it but do report the matter to AVSEC or the Police.
GENERAL SAFETY Make sure you are highly visible when working on the apron or movement areas. Wear your safety bib / reflectorized vest. Wear approved hearing protectors and protective footwear when airside. Telephone numbers that you can call to report any of these matters are below. Alternatively you could report matters personally to Aviation Security Officers, Airport Police Officers, or Auckland Airport Customer Service Officers.
