Kambaku is the ideal springboard for cultural and wildlife trips in the near vicinity. We ll accompany you in your quest to find the Big Five in the National Park, show you the Plateau and introduce you to age-old San culture on a visit to the Ju/ Hoansi-San of the northern Kalahari Desert. Should you have other short trips in mind we would gladly oblige. What would an African trip be without lions and elephants? Kambaku is only two hours away from the National Park just a hop, skip and jump in Namibian terms. Seek elephants in the company of our guides or learn more about the lives of cheetahs at the Cheetah Conservation Fund. For the culturally-minded, consider visiting a traditional San village of the Kalahari Bushmen. The Plateau is also within a day s reach.

TEAM SAFARIS For those visitors who are flexible time-wise but on a tight budget, we recommend joining a small group (maximum 6 pax), to any of the destinations. Team safaris have the advantage of sharing expenses but out of necessity take place on fixed dates. The excursions and day tours are offered weekly and the longer trips once a month. Please enquire which tours fall within your schedule. 8 DAYS CAPRIVI VICTORIA FALLS CHOBE NATIONAL PARK SAFARI DAY 1 We leave early in a north-easterly direction passing the towns of Otavi and Grootfontein and the village huts of the Kavango region. We pause for lunch in the tropical Caprivi Strip (these days known as the Zambezi region). Our destination is a lodge along the Kavango River. Once you have unpacked in your luxury tent, it is time to enjoy sundowners on the river boat, surrounded by hippos and crocodiles. DAY 2 After breakfast we ll meander through the Mahango National Park seeking elephants, buffaloes and antelope that inhabit this lush region with its abundant vegetation. Imagine enjoying a picnic lunch under a massive baobab tree before departing for the eastern Caprivi. DAY 3 Sunrise will find us in a boat quietly slipping down the river edged with reeds and palms. The clear water and shallow spots of the Kwando are ideal for hippo-watching. After breakfast we visit the Lizauli cultural village to learn more about how the Caprivi people benefit from living sustainably. In the afternoon we brave the narrow sandy roads through thick vegetation and along the river in the Susuwe National Park, known for its Big Five. DAY 4 Today we head for Botswana! After crossing the border, we reach the Chobe National Park by midday. Alongside the Park and close to the Zimbabwean border is the lodge in Kasane which forms the head-quarters for our excursions. DAY 5 The elephants start out early and so will we. At sunrise our boat tour begins on the Chobe River. We will not be alone, with hippos and huge hungry crocodiles cruising the water too. Later we will traverse the Park by road together with our guide. The Chobe was founded in the late sixties as Botswana s first national park and is known for its many elephants. DAY 6 The Victoria Falls is our destination today, known by the name Mosi-oa-Tunya or the smoke that thunders. That is the name given to the huge waterfall in the Zambezi River by the BIG FIVE SAFARI Enjoy the wetlands paradise, Africa s largest waterfall and exciting wildlife spotting in just 8 days. It is thought that the forest hails from Angola and was swept there by a huge flood. As we continue, we may see desert elephants in the sparsely populated area. At Twyfelfontein there are some 2 500 rock paintings and engravings to be seen, witnesses to a time long past with values and ideals we struggle to understand today. DAY 2 Atlantic, here we come! On our way to the coastal town of Swakopmund we stop at the Cape Cross Seal Colony. Thousands of animals live off the Skeleton Coast, drawn by the fish resources of the cold Benguela stream. After a memorable trip through the moon landscape of the Skeleton Coast Park, we reach Swakopmund by nightfall. DAY 3 Our day starts with a boat trip on the Atlantic Ocean. 5 DAYS CAPRIVI SAFARI DAY 1 Strengthened by a Kambaku breakfast buffet we travel north-eastwards into Namibia s wetland paradise. Our lodge lies snuggled up on the bank of the Okavango River. From the terrace at sunset we follow the antics of the hippos and hopefully the elephants on the opposite bank. Experience the real Out of Africa feeling with a sundowner. DAY 4 After sunrise the vehicle heads west, travelling along the Caprivi Strip to the Okavango River and our lodge. The Buffalo National Park is our afternoon destination alongside the Okavango River. If we are lucky, at the right time at the right place, we may spot large buffalo herds kicking up dust in front of our vehicle. 6 DAYS CAPRIVI ETOSHA SAFARI DAY 1 We head northwards to the wetlands paradise and our lodge on the banks of the Okavango River. The sun is greeted from the deck of a river boat while sipping sundowners. A luxury tent awaits our dreams, accompanied by the calls of hippos and elephants. After breakfast we head to eastern Caprivi, arriving early afternoon at our lodge on the Kwando River. Dusk is spent on a river boat watching the reeds for birdlife. DAY 3 We wander through the reeds and greenswards of the Kwando at sunrise. By afternoon will be in the Susuwe National Park, a pristine and diverse piece of Africa. Following sandy tracks with our 4x4 we make our way through Big Five country. DAY 4 We turn westwards again in the early morning, along the Caprivi Strip back to the lodge on the Okavango River. Later we ll visit the Buffalo National Park, where huge herds of buffalo roam. Our travels end back at the lodge to reminisce about the rewarding day. At sunset we leave the Park to spend the night at our lodge on the perimeter. DAY 6 At start of day we are back searching for elephants taking a bath or lions resting in the shade after a successful hunt. After this early game show we leave for Kambaku Safari Lodge. DAY 2 Early morning game search through the Mahango National Park! Elephants, buffaloes, and rare antelope species such as sitatunga, roan and sable roam the morning hours. After breakfast we travel in the direction of eastern Caprivi until we reach the Kwando River and our lodge early in the afternoon. Sunset is viewed from a boat on the river all set about with reeds and palms. The shallow pools are ideal habitat for hippos and bird varieties. DAY 3 At sunrise you may walk the open grassy stretches of the Kwando area. The afternoon is spent in the Susuwe National Park in a 4x4 traversing deep sandy tracks and dense vegetation while keeping a lookout for the Big Five. DAY 5 Dawn is welcomed on the boat. We ll be watching hippos return after their nocturnal grazing to the river s security and shade. Back at the lodge a peaceful breakfast awaits us before we take our leave of the Okavango. 5 DAYS ETOSHA DAMARALAND SWAKOPMUND SAFARI 5 DAYS NAMIB SAFARI DAY 1 From the international airport outside Windhoek, we travel directly to the Namib Naukluft Park. This 50 000 square kilometre area is one of the largest conservancies in Namibia. The Naukluft Mountain looms starkly over the gravel plains lined with rivulets. Although the area seems inhospitable, the fragile habitat is home to divergent species that have learnt to adapt to the extremely arid conditions, such as oryx, hyenas, scorpions and ostriches. DAY 1 We leave for Namibia s most impressive national park,. It covers over 22 000 square kilometres and more than 113 mammal species can be found in its grass, bush and tree savannah. Watch out for herds of springbuck and zebra. With luck we will see elephants and after a picnic lunch we continue our search for rhinos and lions. When the sun drops into the horizon, we ll be on our way to our lodge. DAY 2 Travelling past Outjo and Khorixas, we reach the bizarre landscape of Damaraland and pause at the Petrified Forest, claimed to be 240-300 millions of years old. One can still make out the growth rings on many of the fossilised tree trunks. It is thought that the forest hails from Angola and was swept there by a huge flood. As we continue, we may see desert elephants in the sparsely populated area. At Twyfelfontein there are some 2 500 rock paintings and engravings to explore and transport you back to an age so difficult to understand today. DAY 3 Atlantic, here we come! On our way to the coastal town of Swakopmund we stop at the Cape Cross Seal Colony. Thousands of animals live off the Skeleton Coast, drawn by the fish resources of the cold Benguela stream. Swakopmund and vicinity offer numerous activities. DAY 5 The morning sees us leaving either for Kambaku or Windhoek where we wander through the main street before heading for the Hosea Kutako International Airport. DAY 2 We leave early to enjoy the orange-tinted dunes of Sossusvlei at sunrise. At more than 200m they are the highest in the world. After a sojourn at the tiny bakery in Solitaire, the sculptured Naukluft Mountains remain our companion. We cross the photographic Kuiseb River bed and soon reach our lodge at the edge of the park. The magic of the desert surrounds us, with the stars seemingly close enough to touch and only the wind stemming the silence. DAY 3 The Atlantic awaits us after breakfast. Our journey is characterised by outspread desert all the way to Swakopmund. We arrive by noon in DESERT SAFARI See the most beautiful desert, an enchanting coastal town alongside the Atlantic plus Namibia s Small Five. Start: Airport outside Windhoek End: Kambaku the former harbour town of the German Schutzgebiet a modern town with a German atmosphere and numerous cafés, souvenir shops and a small museum. DAY 4 A day of desert. Your guide introduces the Namib Desert to you where life is made possible by the morning mist from the Atlantic Ocean. Seeking the Small Five, we are mesmerised by the sight of the orange-red dunes and the steel blue sky. DAY 5 In the morning we travel northwards along the coastline. The Cape Cross Seal Colony is our first stop before turning east. The vegetation becomes denser and soon the arid semi-desert of western Damaraland makes way for the Namibian bush savannah.
