Market Update Cloud is the buzzword in this sector, with Azure and AWS dominating the conversation. The architecture market has shifted in the past year to be almost fully dominated by cloud based projects. A key concern for businesses undertaking these projects is ensuring stakeholders and the business at large understand what exactly cloud means. As such, those with experience in these technologies and strong stakeholder and communication skills are highly sought after. With many organisations undertaking cloud migrations and focusing on transformation traditional infrastructure architecture roles are decreasing in demand. Professionals in demand include those with experience in cloud services, service models, Salesforce, architecture and design. In line with these trends most candidates surveyed by Greythorn (47%) say they are looking to increase their skills in cloud. There is significantly less mobility in the architecture space this year with only 54% of those surveyed intending to change jobs compared to 66% last year. Architects are also more satisfied in their roles than in 2015, with an increase 18% among those who feel very satisfied in their roles. In spite of growing demand rates and salaries appear to plateaued and most job seekers (61%) predict no rate change in the next 12 months. The recent spate of cloud projects combined with this being a relatively new skill set in Australia has led to significant skills shortages. Those with experience working in Azure are hard to find and often, already well employed. We advise employers seeking these people to be flexible and open to overseas talent. This candidate driven market also means employers need to act fast on good candidates and offer the most compelling opportunity possible. Most candidates are seeking flexible work options, over 20 days holiday and an annual bonus scheme. If you do not already offer these options we recommend considering implementing them. Job seekers are advised to ensure skills and certifications are up to date. While certifications are not always essential they are important and those who do not hold them may find themselves overlooked or needing to work harder to sell their experience. Rachel Van Zyl Senior Consultant Jack George Consultant Allison Chatterley Consultant 3

In spite of increased demand rates are set to stagnate, with most respondents already having had a pay review within the past year. Over the next 12 months, what do you anticipate will happen with contract rates within your specific skill set? 8 % Decrease 31 % 61 % Increase Remain the same When was your last salary review? 1 month 2-3 months 4-6 months 7-9 months 10-12 months 12+ months No Review 8 % % % % 13 11 % 13 14 20 % 21 % 4

Employers looking to attract these in-demand professionals need to evaluate gaps in their current staff benefits and what job seekers value when considering a new role. Which of the following benefits are included in your current package? 59 % Flexible working (homeworking/flexitime) Annual bonus scheme 50 % 44 % Training Mobile phone 42 % 37 % Salary sacrifice Over 20 days holiday 32 % 24 % Health care Insurance (death in service/life insurance) Gym membership 19 % 19 % Share incentive option scheme Extended maternity/paternity leave N/A, I don t receive benefits 12 % 14 % 13 % 18 % Additional (ie over 9.5%) superannuation Paid study leave 10 % 1 % Other Benefits ranked important when considering a new role? Job mobility is down, with just over half of Architecture professionals planning on a job change, compared to 66% last year. In line with this, job satisfaction is up 16% year on year. How satisfied/engaged are you in your current role? Very 26 % Fairly 46 % Neutral Not very 9 % 19% Are you intending to change jobs within the next 12 months? Yes No 54 % 46 % 6
