Best of Morocco 10 DAY TOUR MARCH 9-19, 2018 FEATURING: CASABLANCA MEKNES FES ZIZ GORGES ERFOUD TODRA GORGE OUARZAZATE AIT BENHADDOU MARRAKESH ESSAOUIRA

Best of Morocco Morocco has fascinated travellers for centuries. This North African country bordering the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea is distinguished by its colourful mix of Berber, Arabian and European cultural influences. The labyrinths of the imperial cities of Meknes, Fes and Marrakesh contrast with the dramatic gorges and oases of the snow-capped High Atlas Mountains, and the solitude of the Saharan desert that lies beyond. Join us on this unique journey that is a captivating regional exploration of an amazing land. FRIDAY, MARCH 9 Day 1 Depart Day Today we board our departure flight, ready to begin a journey filled with new and exciting experiences. SATURDAY, MARCH 10 D Day 2 Arrive Casablanca Upon our arrival in Casablanca we are escorted to our hotel. Later, we join our Tour Director for a warm and friendly Welcome Reception and the opportunity to mingle and get to know each other over a pleasant evening of dinner and wine. SUNDAY, MARCH 11 BD Day 3 Meknes - Fes Today we take a tour of the sights of Casablanca. hwe see the huge Hassan II Mosque the largest in the country, and admire the Corniche - a 'très chic' seaside strip lined with trendy restaurants and cafés. Later, we travel to Rabat, Morocco's capital city. Here, we see the Royal Palace, Hassan Tower and visit one of the few holy places open to non-muslims, the lavish Mausoleum of King Mohammed V. This site is both an architectural marvel and a monument to a great ruler. We continue to Meknes, one of the kingdom s great imperial cities dating back to the 11th century. Here we see the Bab el-mansour, the city s monumental entrance and focal point of Place El-Hedim. Later, we arrive in Fes and are treated to a superb Moroccan feast and traditional folklore show. This unforgettable experience is a colourful array of food and wine amidst a carnival-like atmosphere of belly dancers, drums and authentic music! MONDAY, MARCH 12 BD Day 4 Fes Sightseeing This morning we tour Fes with a local expert. We see the Medina - the walled city of hidden courtyards, mosques and workshops; the bazaar; and one of the world's oldest universities. We learn about the motifs and colours used in the ancient designs of carpet making, plus watch the unique and age-old techniques of pottery and bread making. Next we visit two unique communities; the village of Bhalil where local people still live in dwellings carved from the rock, and the city of Sefrou which was once a thriving Jewish community. TUESDAY, MARCH 13 BLD Day 5 Ziz Gorges - Erfoud We leave the bustle of the city behind and head for the spectacular snowcapped High Atlas Mountains. We pass through alpine Lfrane before reaching the great cedar forests of Azrou. After lunch at Midelt, we continue up through the magnificent Ziz Gorges, past palm-fringed towns to our destination at Erfoud. Here the red sand buildings contrast against the surrounding desert. This evening, perhaps we may choose to take an optional 4-wheel drive excursion to meet the nomadic desert dwellers and marvel at a glorious Sahara sunset! WEDNESDAY, MARCH 14 BLD Day 6 Todra Gorge - Ouarzazate We start off today with a visual exploration of the Todra Gorge the Grand Canyon of the Sahara. At Boumalne-du- Dades, we encounter the dry, rugged Dades Valley, dotted with oases of figs, olives, date palms and castellated mud houses. We stop for Berber tea at a traditional Nomad house before finding our way to our destination at Ouarzazate. This is the film capital of Morocco where scenes from Lawrence of Arabia and Star Wars were shot. THURSDAY, MARCH 15 BD Day 7 Aït Benhaddou - Marrakesh We enjoy a relaxed start this morning. Our first stop is at the village of Aït Benhaddou,

boasting one of Morocco s finest kasbahs. We continue via the spectacular Tizi n Tichka Pass, descending through charming mountain villages, dense woods and green fields into the ochrecoloured city of Marrakesh. FRIDAY, MARCH 16 BD Day 8 Marrakesh Sightseeing We begin our Marrakesh sightseeing at the bustling Jemaa el-fnaa Square. We take some time to watch the dancers, snake charmers, storytellers and acrobats. We explore the Medina, and see the Koutoubia Mosque with a minaret that dominates the Marrakesh skyline. Then, we visit the Palais de la Bahia, built in the late 19th century and intended to be the greatest palace of its time. Later, we have free time to visit a museum or haggle in the souks. This evening, we travel by charming horse and carriage to a vibrant restaurant on the main square for a meal of classic Moroccan dishes. SATURDAY, MARCH 17 BD Day 9 Essaouira We say farewell to Marrakesh and venture to the laid-back fishing town of Essaouira. After checking into our hotel, why not spend the afternoon navigating the narrow alleyways, exploring the busy fishing port or maybe just relaxing on the beach? This evening, we sample the local seafood and wine at a waterside restaurant. SUNDAY, MARCH 18 BD Day 10 Casablanca Today we head back to the coastal city of Casablanca, famous for Bergman and Bogart! The city offers a unique insight into modern Morocco and is a fascinating place to return to after experiencing the traditional charms of the countryside. Tonight, there really is only one place to be Rick s Café! Recreated from the famous movie, we enjoy a hearty Celebration Dinner including drinks and, no doubt, a rendition of As Time Goes By. Here s looking at you kid! MONDAY, MARCH 19 Day 11 Return Home After breakfast we are taken to the airport for our flight home, where family and friends are waiting to hear about our exciting adventure.
