Provisional data Overnight stays in hotel establishments 1 increase 19.4% in April as compared with the same month of 216 Hotels invoice an average of 81.2 euros per occupied room, which means an annual increase of 11.1% In April, a total of 27.5 million overnight stays were registered in hotel establishments, 19.4% more than in the same month of 216. Overnight stays by travellers resident in Spain increased by 33.7% and those of non-residents did so by 11.8%. The average stay increased.8%, standing at 3. overnight stays per traveller. During the first four months of 217, overnight stays increased 4.% with respect to the same period the previous year. Given that in 217 Holy Week is celebrated in April, while in 216 it was held in March, it is convenient to analyse the aggregate period March-April. In that period, overnight stays increased by 6.3% as compared with the same two-month period of 216 (overnight stays of residents increased by 6.5% and those of non-residents did so by 6.2%). Hotel occupancy In April, 61.4% of the available bedplaces were occupied, indicating an annual increase of 15.4%. The weekend occupancy rate by bedplaces increased by 16.1%, standing at 68.2%. By tourist areas, the island of Lanzarote registered the highest occupancy rate by bedplaces (83.3%), and the tourist area of Barcelona registered the highest weekend occupancy rate (82.4%). The island of Mallorca recorded the highest number of overnight stays, with more than 2.7 million. The tourist spots with more overnight stays were Madrid, Pájara and Palma. Arona reached both the greatest level of occupancy by bedplaces (85.3%), as the greatest weekend occupancy (86.5%). Overnight stays according to the country of origin of the travellers Travellers from the United Kingdom and Germany concentrated 23.% and 21.5%, respectively, of total overnight stays of non-residents in hotel establishments in April. The British market increased by 6.9%, and the German one did so by 12.2%. Overnight stays of guests from France, the Netherlands and Italy (the following countries of origin) registered annual rates of -.7%, 3.7% and 3.7%, respectively. 25 23. Hotel Prices The annual rate of the Hotel Prices Index (HPI) stood at 9.4% in April, which is 6.2 points higher than that registered last month and 6.1 points higher than that registered one year ago. Hotel prices increased by 14.1% in the annual rate in Canarias, 8.7% in Andalucía, 8.6% in Illes Balears and 5,9% in Cataluña. By hotel category, hotel prices increased in all of them. In three-golden-star establishments (12.1%), in four -golden-star establishments (9.2%), in three-silver-star and two-silver-star establishments (8.6%), in five-golden-star establishments (7.6%), in two-golden-star establishments (7.5%), one-silver-star establishment (6.9%) and one-golden-star establishment (5.2%). Profitability of the Hotel Sector The average daily rate per occupied room (ADR) of hotels was 81.2 euros in April, which means an increase of 11.1% as compared with the same month of 216. Meanwhile, the average daily income per room available (RevPAR), which is conditioned by the occupancy registered in hotel establishments, reached 53.7 euros, with an increase of 2.8%. By category, the average invoicing is 19.5 euros for five-star hotels, 85.5 euros for four-star hotels and 63.8 euros for three-star hotels.
