BUS SERVICE CHANGES IN BISHOP AUCKLAND, DARLINGTON, DURHAM, HARTLEPOOL, STOCKTON, MIDDLESBROUGH, NEWCASTLE AND SUNDERLAND From Sunday 28 October 2012 Arriva North East Service Route Changes 1/1B Darlington - Bishop Auckland - Buses will continue to run half-hourly on Monday to Saturday daytimes between Darlington, Cockerton, Heighington, Crook - Tow Law Shildon, Bishop Auckland, Crook and Low Mown Meadows, continuing hourly to Tow Law. The Sunday service is unchanged, but there will be a new Monday to Saturday evening timetable that will see buses run hourly between Darlington and Crook. The times of the evening and Sunday buses will be co-ordinated with the 5A to provide a bus about every 30 minutes between Darlington and Bishop Auckland. Following customers requests, a new Monday to Friday morning journey will run between Faverdale and Darlington arriving in the town centre for 0600. 2/2A/2B/2C Bishop Auckland - Spennymoor - This service is being withdrawn due to changes in the contract with Durham County Council. Customers who travel on Ferryhill - Bishop Auckland the Monday to Saturday morning journeys can use services 6, 7, 8/8A or 56 to complete their journeys. The Monday to Saturday evening journeys will be run by Scarlet Band (as service 35A) and more information about these is available from Durham County Council. 5/5A/5B Bishop Auckland - Shildon - Buses will continue to run half-hourly on Monday to Saturday daytimes along the existing route, except that all Newton Aycliffe - Darlington journeys will serve Aycliffe Industrial Estate instead of Aycliffe Village, which will be covered by the 8 and 21 (see below). Evening buses will continue to run hourly, but to a new timetable to improve reliablity. Sundays will also see a new timetable and buses will run via Henknowle Estate to provide new links for this area. The Monday to Friday morning 5B journey will be diverted to start from Bishop Auckland and will run as service 5A. A new journey will run on service 6 from West Auckland, which will connect with the 5A in Bishop Auckland. 6/6A Durham - Spennymoor - This service is being enhanced to run every 12 minutes on Monday to Saturday daytimes between Durham and Bishop Auckland - West Auckland - West Auckland, hourly in the evening and on Sundays. All buses will run as service 6 via Tudhoe, Spennymoor, Evenwood - Ramshaw/Cockfield Middlestone Moor, Bishop Auckland, Cabin Gate and Woodhouse Close, with two journeys per hour extending beyond West Auckland to Evenwood and Cockfield. Central Avenue will still have a half-hourly service, but this will be provided by the new 8 and 21 (see below). The 7 will also no longer serve the Arnison Centre and Brasside. Alternative journeys will be available on the new 42 and 64. Evening buses will run hourly between Darlington and Durham, co-ordinated with the 5A between Darlington and Newton Aycliffe to offer a half-hourly service along this section of route. Sunday buses will also run hourly, co-ordinated with the 5A, 8 and 21 to offer a 15-20 minute service between Darlington and Newton Aycliffe. 8/8A Darlington - Newton Aycliffe - The 8/8A will run to new routes and timetables. This will speed up journeys for people travelling between Darlington, Newton Aycliffe, Ferryhill and Spennymoor. A new hourly Sunday service will run on the 8, re-instating a regular Sunday bus service for many places. The 8A will run hourly on Monday to Saturday daytimes between Ferryhill and Spennymoor via Thinford, York Hill Estate and Tudhoe. Together, the 8 and 8A will offer two buses per hour between Ferryhill and Spennymoor on Monday to Saturday daytimes. 12/12A Hurworth - Darlington - This service will run to a revised route in Middleton St George. Monday to Saturday journeys will run via King Oswy Drive in Hartlepool while Sunday buses will run via the General Hospital. All journeys will serve Victoria Road in Hartlepool town centre, but start/finish at the Marina instead of the Transport Interchange. Together, the 22 and 23 will offer a bus every 15 minutes between Peterlee and Hartlepool, while the 22 and 24 will provide a bus every 15 minutes between Peterlee and Durham. 23 Hartlepool - Peterlee - Sunderland This service is being enhanced to run half-hourly on Monday to Saturday daytimes between Hartlepool and Sunderland.
