HOW TO SIGN UP When can I sign up for trips? Wednesday, August 24th online sign up 8:00-9:15 am. You will be e-mailed a link. Afterwards, you can sign up with Tereza. Sign ups for ALL TRIPS are closed 8 days before the trip takes place. Deposits 500 CZK deposit each trip; you will get it back after the trip/on the trip EXACT AMOUNT ONLY, WE CANNOT GIVE CHANGE! Deposits must be paid Friday, August 26th 12:45-1:15pm or you will lose your spot on the trip! Toyen classroom, Richtruv dum. You will receive a receipt for the deposit, keep and return on the trip to get deposit back No deposit for waiting list DEPOSIT IS NOT RETURNED IF YOU DO NOT GO ON THE TRIP (except illness or family emergency) You get your deposit back only if a replacement is found for you If you let us know at least 8 days before the trip, you can switch the deposit to another open trip, but you CANNOT JUST GET IT BACK.
HOW TO SIGN UP How many trips can I sign up for? 1 overnight trip and 1 day trip; on waiting list for 1 day trip and 1 overnight trip. Modern Jewish History students - the Terezin trip is mandatory / does not count as 1 of your day trips. You are automatically signed up for this trip. Waiting lists students on waiting lists are put in trips if there is space after the initial sign-up. Students will be updated by email; pay deposit 500 CZK to secure spot No deposit to sign up on a waiting list No guests are permitted on any trips If there are disciplinary problems with students, they might be prohibited from going on NYU Prague trips.

CAMPING TRIP September 3-4 Camping at a bank of the Mácha Lake at the heart of virgin nature Swimming and paddle boats Hiking in the surrounding area visiting caves and a gothic castle Bonfire, guitars & marshmallows!!
BISON FARM HIKE September 9-10 explore two beautiful UNESCO towns by the Czech-Austrian border see underground tunnels dating from the 14th century paint ceramic mugs! spend the night at a bison farm hike to the ruins of the medieval castle Landštejn & see bunker complexes
VOLUNTEERING TRIP September 9-11 more than just a trip an expedition to make a difference! help a Czech non-profit organization at the farm learn more about the only Camphill community house in the CZ with unique spiritual roots that gives home to a number of people with disabilities and their assistants help during the harvesting season, collect and clean vegetables (carrots, pumpkins, beetroots ) manually, in a traditional way meet some Czechs and other foreigners living in CZ get to know your NYU folks better AVAILABLE PLACES FOR NYU: 10 WHERE: small village, 100 km North of Prague, not far from Terezín and Elbe river
I loved how everyone worked together so well. Everyone let their guards down and we got to know one another very well! The work I did was a whole new experience I learned that language can t keep people from becoming friends and working together.
SOUTHERN MORAVIA & MIKULOV September 16-17 Beautiful nature full of VINEYARDS, minaret surrounded by a gorgeous chateau park with lakes, castles... We will visit a small farm where you will see how people produce burčák (a sort of wine which is really sweet and is typical for the Fall season) and plenty of lil cute animals!
INTO THE WOODS (ŠUMAVA) September 16-17 Hiking trip to the Green Roof of Europe Most extensive forest landscape in Central Europe Walk on treetops and enjoy the breathtaking view from the top of the observation tower Wonderfully preserved nature, sprawling green forests, and mountains - Into the Woods is a trip you shouldn't miss!
Český Krumlov & Hluboká September 24-25 Český Krumlov is a small, beautifully preserved historic town often described as the pearl of Central Europe. On top of the town perches the second largest Renaissance castle, with one of Europe s few preserved Baroque Theatres Visit of Hluboká - one of the most beautiful castles in Czech Republic with a look straight out of a Disney movie!

POLITICAL PRISONERS TRIP September 30 - October 1 See former forced labor camps (gulags) Meet former prisoner & hear his story Uranium ore facility (Red Tower of Death) learn about the Stalinist Era in Czechoslovakia guided tour (hike) in nature on the border with Germany with these relics of Czech history
OSTRAVA & THE ROMANY October 21-22 Learn more about the life and culture of the Roma people ( Gypsies ) - one of the most significant minorities in the Czech Republic Visit the homes of Roma families Discuss their place in Czech society, discrimination, drug use, their music and values, unemployment etc. Lectures from the association that has brought Roma and non-roma together in Ostrava
HLINSKO date TBA Get to know Czech young people by staying 1 night in their homes, enjoy their hospitality, including a homecooked meal! Connect with high school students in Hlinsko in Eastern Bohemia. A day spent at an elite high school hosted by students ages 16 to 19 + their very special teacher - Lada Kusa - one of the leading English-language instructors in the region Learn about the similarities and differences between Czech and American education (e.g. how the kids see issues like racism, sex, and politics)

SNĚŽKA HIKE September 23 Do you love nature and enjoy challenging hikes? Do not miss trip to Sněžka (Snowy Mountain). Sněžka is the highest mountain of Czech Republic with 1, 602 meters (5255.9 ft) above sea. It is a major landmark in the eastern part of the Krkonoše (Giant Mountains), on the border between the Czech Republic.
ŘÍP HIKE & MĚLNÍK AREA October 2 Our first stop is going to be Říp - a solitary hill where - according to legend - the first Czechs settled. We will visit a renaissance chateau in dowry town Mělník, famous for it s wine-growing tradition.. Next stop is a local ossuary!
DISCOVER SOUTH BOHEMIA October 22 (RA Kuba s b-day!) České Budějovice - capital of South Bohemia region Červená Red Lhota, a castle with a legend behind it as almost everything in CzechRep. :-) Holašovice - old styled village typical for Middle Ages era, also registered on the UNESCO Cultural Heritage List
KUTNÁ HORA November 4 Beautiful historical town with preserved Renaissance architecture The town is on the UNESCO list Gothic church decorated with sculptures made of human bones
DRESDEN HOLIDAY MARKETS November 26 Capital of German state Saxony City was all ruined during WW2 One of the biggest Christmas markets in Central Europe Visit of Alter Meister (Old Master s) Gallery
