LW- Long way of diamond, or design dimension; not used in style designation. SWO- Short way of opening dimension; used to indicate clear opening in the short direction. LWO- Long way of opening dimension; used to indicate clear opening in the long direction. Strand Thickness- Equal to the thickness of the sheet of metal used. The gauge number or decimal thickness is usually the second number in the style designation. Strand Width- Amount of metal fed under the dies to produce one strand. EXPANE METAL REGULAR EXPANE METAL is a finished product as it comes from the press after having been die cut and expanded. The strands and bonds form a sharp angle to the original plane of the solid sheet. FLATTENE EXPANE METAL is a regular expanded metal which has been cold rolled, leaving a flat, smooth surface.
