All the club rides are on Cape Cod bike paths; The Shining Sea in Falmouth, the Cape Cod Canal paths (both sides), the Rail Trail in Dennis and the trails in Nickerson and Province Lands. The group meets and decides how much time to allow, then ride at their own pace for as long as they like. Meet again at the determined time and place, have lunch or a beverage together. The Inaugural Bike Ride June 3 rd, 9:00 AM Meet at the Freezer Road parking lot for an easy roll down and back on the Cape Cod Canal. Ride at your own pace and meet up with the group for coffee/pastries/breakfast at The Chew. Rain cancels. The first trip will be a local shakedown cruise at Scorton Creek to tour the marsh. Parking, bathrooms and a picnic area all available. Launch at 10:30 on June 16th from Fishermans Bend in East Sandwich. North End Expedition Wednesday, June 10 th, We will be having dinner at 5:00 at La Famiglia Giorgio's on 112 Salem Street and a second restaurant in the North End of Boston on Wednesday, June 10. We will take the ferry from Hingham Shipyard to Long Wharf at 3:00 and arrive at Long Wharf at 3:40PM. You will have enough time to walk around, visit Paul Revere's house or any of the other North End attractions. The ferry home will leave at 6:40, enough time to pick up a few take-out pastries at your favorite bakery. The walk from the ferry to the restaurant is about.5 miles and takes 10 minutes. Ladies Afternoon Tea Wednesday, June 17 th, 12 noon to 3pm Grace Sample at 24 Quiet Street will be hosting a Ladies Afternoon Tea in June. There will be tea, scones & jam served. To add to the menu let Grace know what you would like to bring: for example, small finger/tea sandwiches, fruit dish, small savory or sweet bite size desserts! Wear your favorite tea hat! Brunch Coordinator: Patti Fattori Sandwich Newcomers Annual Picnic Recent Events Saturday, June 20 th, 4:30 pm Our Sandwich Newcomers & Neighbors Annual Picnic will be held on Saturday, June 20, at 4:30 p.m. at the Holly Ridge Golf Club. This is a club-sponsored event and includes dinner and dessert. The menu will be picnic fare: hamburgers, hotdogs, baked beans, and coleslaw. Cash bar. For our golfers, there will be a nine-hole scramble golf tournament beginning at 2:00 p.m. The cost is $19 per person and an extra $7 for a cart. We will also have a putting contest for everyone to try their putting skills. No charge, prizes. No experience is required!! Please RSVP by June 12 to Anne Sayer at asayer3@gmail.com if you plan to attend the picnic and/or play in the golf 9-hole scramble. The Sandwich Newcomers will hold a brief business meeting voice vote election for its incoming Board of Directors and thank you s for the outgoing board members at the Picnic. Thanks to Bill Daley for organizing our Spring Program Meeting featuring the National Marine Life Center, a non-profit rehabilitation and release hospital for the treatment of stranded sea turtles and seals, with plans to expand to treat dolphins, porpoises, and small whales.
