The meeting will start promptly at 14.00 and will aim to finish by 18.00. A dinner is being arranged at a local restaurant. Please plan your travel/accommodation accordingly. For details of venue and hotel etc. see the Workshop programme. Please register your attendance with Roger Oswald and if, for any reason, you cannot attend please advise Jacek Gierlinski. (Jacek.Gierlinski@atkinsglobal.com). 2.) A provisional agenda is attached. Please come prepared to contribute as indicated. MS power point and ohp projectors will be available. As usual we require brief updates from Industry and Technology Coordinators about the issues in their sector. 3.) There are three principal aspects of the meeting: I.)Firstly to update our understanding of the issues in each Industry Sector and each RTD area (including Ed &Diss n ). Most Industry Coordinators have a- lready updated last years reports and RTD coordinators should be in the process of updating theirs. (This is, of course, a contractual requirement) and it is appropriate therefore to reconsider the overall picture. Hopefully we have now captured the key issues and there will be few substantive changes from last year, but we might anticipate changes in emphasis arising from changed market 6 conditions, launch of new technology, new research projects, interesting conferences, other RTD initiatives, FP6 etc. etc.. Would coordinators for each area therefore please liaise prior to the meeting and between them update their thinking in their respective areas and then be prepared to give a brief report to the meeting. From this we will then identify pressing technology issues that need to be flagged for future action, bearing in mind that there are only 2 further workshops after the present one. II.) Secondly to decide on the format of the next workshops and Annual Industry meeting III.) Thirdly to decide whether to hold a final close-out event to mark the conclusion of the project 4.) Please advise Jacek Gierlinski of Any Other Business. 5.) Finally Jacek Gierlinski would like to announce that he is moving to a new job in Warsaw where he will be involved in European integration in the Polish Ministry of Science. He therefore resigns as Assistant Coordinator from FENET and would like to thank all the Industry, RTD and Edu.& Diss. Coordinators for their work in FENET and support. You will be pleased to learn that the Assistant Coordinator role will be taken again into the experienced hands of Nigel Knowles. We look forward to an enjoyable, interesting and useful meeting.

Hotel Meliá Palas Atenea Palma is a great city in which tradition and the modern life combine. An example of this is the Paseo Maritimo (seafront), a route you can stroll along whilst enjoying a sea breeze and a spectacular view of the Cathedral. The walk can begin at the foot of the Cathedral, in what used to be the sea but is now a park: el parc de la Mar. Starting the walk, we step on to the Paseo Maritimo, a broad avenue of six lanes that run alongside the sea. Here you find big hotels like the Hotel Meliá Palas Atenea and nightclubs. There are 700 palm trees planted along here, some in the central pavement and others grouped in small garden areas. There are windmills turned into discos, that provide a picturesque air to the walk. You also pass by the Club Nautico, one of the most important of the Mediterranean area and known the world over for being the headquarters of the Copa del Rey de Vela regatta. Souvenir shops and cafes complete this walk until you arrive at the harbour at Porto Pi. This is used both for military and commercial traffic and is where the king usually moors his yacht when he summers on the island. By plane Palma s Son Sant Joan airport lies eight kilometres from the capital. Direct and connecting flights, scheduled and charter, link Palma with all main European destinations.
