CULTURAL ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE PROGRAM CALENDER 2017 (January April 2017) Programmes organised by Cultural Activities Committee in collaboration with all the clubs 1. January 13 th CAC Meeting in DSW, under the new cultural coordinator Prof. Meeta Narain and other CAC members along with the tentative Convenors of all the clubs discussed the future action plans; particularly the Cultural Club Inaugurals on 23 rd January 2. January 23 rd Cultural Club Inaugurals was oragnised at SSS1 Auditorium. Prof. Rana Pratap Singh inaugurated the new CAC and their activities for the semester. The inaugurals was attended by Cultural Coordinator Prof. Meeta Narain, Faculty in charges, PRO, former cultural coordinator, Prof. Manjusree Chauhan, JNUSU Vice President Amal P.P and the student community. New membership drive was initiated. All the club convenors (tentative) presented (PPT) their action plans for the year and the reports of their activities Photography club conducted a photography contest on the theme JNU through my lens. Cultural programmes were also part of the event The winners of the painting and photography contests were awarded during the event.

3. February 4 th The cultural clubs of JNU organised a SPICMACAY programme. Late Habib Tanvir s directorial play Rajrakt was staged in SSS1 Auditorium. Shri. Arun Sahay, the Chairperson of SPICMACAY graced the event and addressed the gathering.

4. February 7 th A General Body Meeting of all the cultural clubs was called in Teflas. Chaired by the Cultural Coordinator and other CAC members discussed the future activities and also elected the ad hoc convenors and co convenors for the semester until the elections are conducted.

5. February 18 th The cultural clubs of JNU organised and participated in Basant Utsav 2017, a spring fair with Dastakari Haat Samiti and MSME in KC OAT. There were crafts stalls, food stalls, exhibitions, workshops and cultural programmes. The Fine Arts Club exhibited and sold their craft works and paintings. The Photography Club exhibited their photographs. The Dance club performed various folk dances of India.

6. April 3rd The Cultural Activities Committee held an Executive Meeting of the CAC members and the convenors of all the clubs to evaluate our activities so far and to create an outline of our future endeavours. JNU Music Club January 25th

A musical evening by JNU Music club on the eve of Republic day. The Sarod recital by Pandit Biswajit Roy Chowdhary was the highlight of the evening. JNU Music club performed some Patriotic songs. JNU Dance club performed a patriotic dance. JNU Dance Club February 10 th JNU Dance Club performed various classical and folk dances in the conference of the School of Life Sciences. March 2 nd & 5 th JNU Dance Club organised a Dance Workshop by Prof. Urmimala Sarkar on basic movements and group dance techniques at JNU Music & Dance Room in Teflas. It will be continued periodically in the coming months too.

JNU UNESCO Club & JNU Film Club March 8 th On the eve of the International Women s Day the UNESCO Club and Film Club jointly organised a public talk and film screening. Prof. Rakesh Batbyal and Dr. Dhirendra Bhatnagar, President, World Federation of UNESCO Clubs were the speakers. The movie Parched was screened at Teflas. JNU Fine Arts Club January 20 th JNU Fine Arts Club organised a painting competition on the theme, Feminism & Art in Teflas JNU Drama Club March 10 th JNU Drama Club participated in the Nukkad Natak contest in the National Techno Cultural Fest at Jaipur Engineering College and Research Centre.

JNU Photography Club April 1 st JNU Photography Club organised a photography workshop by eminent photojournalist Sondeep Shankar at New SL Committee Room. A photography contest on the theme Rangrasiya was conducted and the winners were awarded at the workshop.

JNU Literary Club April 10 th JNU Literary Club organised a talk & discussion on Indian Classical Aesthetics by Prof. Dhananjay Singh from CES, SL&CSS on April 10 th, at SIS Committee Room.

JNU Drama Club April 12 th 19 th This year JNU drama club is organising the 6th edition of Rang Bayaar from 12th April 2017 to 19th April 2017 at 9 p.m. Convention Centre, JNU. With tremendous enthusiasm. These evenings will be filled with 8 theatrical performances by IPTA, Wings, Sansaptak, Jumbish, JNU Drama Club, Bhikhari Thakur Rang Mandal, Sehar, Bollygrad and Bahroop.

JNU UNESCO Club April 12 th Meet with NGO. The UNESCO club of Jawaharlal Nehru University organised a visit to Combined Action for Progress, an NGO that aims to serve the society in an inclusive manner while promoting peace, equity, participation, awareness, good governance and inclusive growth. The objective of the visit was to understand the ground reality regarding the degree of awareness for education among the children living in slum areas.
