Day 7 - Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe After enjoying breakfast you will be transferred to the majestic Victoria Falls waterfall (additional cost). Victoria Falls or Mosi-oa-Tunya (the Smoke that Thunders) is situated on the Zambezi River between the countries of Zimbabwe and Zambia. It is a truly magnificent waterfall and one of the "seven natural wonders of the world." Dr. David Livingstone first set eyes upon the falls in 1855 and named it Victoria Falls after his queen, Queen Victoria. The falls was well known to the indigenous peoples of southern Africa by many names, the most meaningful being Mosi-oa-Tunya (the Smoke that Thunders). Victoria Falls is the most visited attraction in both Zimbabwe and Zambia hosting many thousands of tourists each year. Because of the large amount of water spray from the falls, you will walk through a beautiful natural rainforest and view the falls from several scenic viewing points. During the rainy season months of November through April you can get particularly wet with the large amount of spray and the sound of the falls can be almost deafening. If you wish, at additional cost you can also experience the 'Flight of the Angels' which gives a stunning aerial view of the falls by aircraft. On the Zimbabwe side of the falls there are seventeen major viewing points, the most impressive being the Main Falls and Devil's Cataract where approximately 500 million liters/minute of water flows over during peak season. Victoria Falls is over one-mile wide (1708 m) and over 350 feet high (108 m). Afternoon will be spent at your leisure. You will have the option of taking part in the following activities (additional cost): Guided Tour of Victoria Falls Zambezi River Sunset Cruise Elephant Back Safari Helicopter Sightseeing Flight Lion Walk (walk & interact with young lions) Game Drives Bungee Jump from the Zambezi River Bridge White Water Rafting on the Zambezi River Canoeing on the Zambezi River

Game drives can be enjoyed in daytime or at night but always in the care of expert guides. The lodge is situated adjacent to a wildlife watering hole which allows a great view of game from each room, the restaurant, pool area and the viewing deck. While guests enjoy a bit of evening refreshment they can watch a rare mix of game from the impish impala to the majestic elephant visit the waterhole for their end of day drink. Early morning or late afternoon/evening are the best times to view wildlife. Make no mistake this is their domain and expert guides are essential for game drives. Day 9 Gwayi River, Zimbabwe After breakfast you will embark on a Rural Village Outreach to the village of Gwayi River. Your outreach team will provide food for a rural village feast, prepared by the village and served by you and other outreach team members (if you wish). This Rural Village Outreach will give visitors a remarkable glimpse of life in rural Zimbabwe as it has existed for centuries. It will be a rich opportunity to observe and interact with rural Zimbabwean people and experience their culture firsthand. The region is described as a place of great beauty, great need and great people. This outreach experience is something visitors will never forget.
