It won't be long before we will be loading up the buses and heading up to the mountains for a fun filled week at YMCA Camp Whittle. Below you will find all the important information and a few very important reminders and details that need to be taken care of prior to camp. Camper Forms Enclosed you will find a set of forms that must be filled out completely and returned to the YMCA as soon as possible. Due to equipment/rental fees there is a higher rate for that unit. We have also introduced Early Bird pricing and a Late Fee. Rally Night Rally Night will be held at each branch to better accommodate families. Please plan on attending ONE of these rally nights. You do not need to attend both. Rally Night is a time for parents and campers to learn more about the camp, find out what you need to bring, meet some of the camp staff, and have some fun. WEST VALLEY FAMILY YMCA EAST VALLEY FAMILY YMCA Departure: On Saturday, July 29th, we are leaving from the Dave Potell Memorial Sports Facility at 11455 Magnolia Blvd, North Hollywood CA 91601. You must arrive at 10am. Please do not be late.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHALL CAMPERS BE DROPPED OFF WITHOUT A PARENT OR GUARDIAN. Mark all luggage and clothing with Camper s name. Until Camper has been checked-in, luggage dropped in the proper place, passed health check, and introduced to his/her counselors, PARENTS MAY NOT LEAVE THEIR CHILDREN. MEDICATION: If your child is required to take any medications while at camp, please put them in a bag and clearly mark your child's name on the outside of the bag. All medications must be in the original container with current directions and must be turned over to the Camp Nurse or Doctor at the Health Check. Medications that are not in the original container will not be accepted. Return: We should return to Dave Potell Memorial Sports Facility, 11455 Magnolia Blvd, North Hollywood CA 91601, around 12 p.m. on Saturday, August 5 th. Parents may call the YMCA at 818-763-5126 or 818-774-2840 after 9:00 a.m. for a more exact time. Please plan to be at the meeting spot when your child arrives. Parents or guardian must check-out with their camper s counselors before leaving. Camp Mail: Children love to receive mail at camp. Please write to your child and encourage others to do so also. Send all letters and packages no later than Monday, August 1 st to ensure they arrive before we leave Camp. Camp is a great place to wear out old clothing so there is no need to buy anything new for camp. NO cell phones, NO ipods, NO mp3 players, NO game players! Please do not bring them as camp is a great time to unplug for a week and enjoy nature. Also they are just not allowed The YMCA is not responsible for any lost or damaged property. If a child is found with any of the items listed on What not to bring that item will be taken away from the child and be returned to the parent upon pick up. Injuries at Camp: We will notify the parents of any injured child. There is a nurse and/or doctor on grounds 24 hours a day. In case there is a hospitalized emergency, there are two hospitals in Big Bear. Parents are responsible to arrive at the hospital once their child has been admitted.
Sick/Ill Children at Camp If your child gets sick at camp, parents will be asked to come pick them up from camp. You will have 6 hours to arrive at Camp Whittle. There will be no refund offered for sick children that are sent home by the nurse/doctor. Camper Behavior at Camp All staff and campers are to adhere to the Behavior Contract/Code of Conduct they have signed. Please make sure you read it thoroughly. If a child is sent home it is the parent s responsibility to arrive at camp within 6 hours of the phone call home. There will be no refunds offered for campers that break the behavior contract/code of conduct and are sent home. Themed meals At Camp we have a lot of fun dressing up for some meals, mostly dinners. Please do not spend money on costume, use what you have from around the house. Here is the list of this year s theme meals: Camp Shirt Dinner - camp shirts will be provided as this will be the night we take the camp photo. But if you have a favorite camp shirt from years past you can change into it for dinner. Sports Dinner wear a jersey or shirt or whole uniform of your favorite sport. Toga Dinner bring an old sheet or large beach towel. Pajama Breakfast campers will get to wear their pj s to breakfast! Crazy Hat/Hair Breakfast show off your craziest hat or hair style at breakfast. Tacky Formal Dance dust of your plaid suits, polka-dot shirts and your moms prom dress for the tacky formal dance!
