SOCIAL PROGRAM Talca, July 2014 TALCA CITY TOUR Date: Saturday 05 th - 14:00 hrs Duration: About 4 hours Cost: 1.000 CLP (completos) + 3.000 CLP (lunch) Founded in 1690, Talca was once considered one of the country's principal cities; Chile's 1818 declaration of independence was signed here. These days, it's mainly known as a convenient base for exploring the gorgeous Reserva Nacional Altos de Lircay and the Maule Valley wineries and to be the cheapest city in Chile to live. TREK AT ALTOS DE LIRCAY Date: Sunday 06 th - 08:00 hrs Duration: About 2 hours Cost: $4.000 CLP It is the largest National Reserve of the Maule Region with 16,684 hectares of valleys, mountain ranges and prairies. The activities you can do in this reserve are: horseback riding, trekking, flora and fauna observation, photography, natural volcanic lava formed pools, short hikes to the Tacitas Stones and the Antahuara Viewpoint.
SANTIAGO DE CHILE CITY TOUR Date: Saturday 12 th - 10:00 hrs Meeting Point: Universidad Católica Metro station (line 1, red), at the ticket counter Duration: All day long Cost: 10.000 CLP + (round trip Talca-Santiago) 5.000 CLP (lunch) + 1.500 CLP ( La Chascona ) + 2.600 CLP (San Cristóbal hill). Santiago de Chile is a beautiful city founded on 1541, which nowadays is a mix of old and modern architecture, that varies along with its neighborhoods, buildings, parks, museums and monuments. We will take a tour around the main sights of the historic center of Santiago de Chile. Please bring comfortable shoes because we are going to do a lot of walking. Mains stops will be: Downtown, Lunch at Mercado Central, visiting La Chascona house and going up the San Cristóbal hill. Please bring along your Student ID. CONCHA Y TORO VINEYARD Date: Sunday 13 th - 13:00 hrs Meeting Point: Las Mercedes Metro station (Line 4, blue), at the ticket counter Duration: Just for the day Cost: 1.200 CLP (round trip) + $8.600 CLP (entrance fee) This is one of the most traditional Chilean Wineries, known worldwide for the outstanding quality of its wines. The tour will begin with a guided visit to the gardens of the house where the Concha y Toro family lived for many generations. Afterwards we will visit the vine plantations and the cellar where the famous Casillero del Diablo legend rumor began, widely spread by Mr. Melchor, to prevent his best wines from being stolen. Finally, we shall do a tasting of two of their best wine strains and then visit the vineyard s shop, where you can purchase souvenirs and other wine related goods.
LA PARVA SKI CENTER Date: Friday 18th 08:00 hrs Meeting point: Ski Total Store. Apoquindo #4900, Las Condes. This is 3 blocks away from Escuela Militar Metro station (line 1, red) Duration: All day long Cost: 10.000 CLP (round trip Talca-Santiago) + 55.000 CLP (transport + lift ticket + lunch + equipment rental + Ski/Snowboard classes) Chile's central and southern regions are home to a wide variety of ski centers which receive thousands of visitors each season (between June and October). You can go skiing or snowboarding for the day at one of the ski centers just outside Santiago de Chile. You may practice ski or snowboard. We advice you to check out www.skitotal.cl, to find some proper ski clothes (pants & jacket), gloves, goggles and helmet (not included in the price). VALPARAÍSO & VIÑA DEL MAR CITY TOUR Date: Friday 18th 20:00 hrs Meeting point: Pajaritos Metro station (line 1, red), at the ticket office Duration: Weekend! (Including Saturday and Sunday) Cost: 8.000 CLP (bus ticket - round trip) + 18.000 CLP (accommodation with breakfast included) - Hostal Kalagen (kalagenhostel.com) + 1.500 CLP ( La Sebastiana ) This one is a classic tour of IFMSA-Chile. During this tour w e do city tour, go to the beach, visit Pablo s Neruda House "La Sebastiana", famous flower clock and other touristic p laces of Valparaiso y Viña del Mar.
SURFING AT PICHILEMU Date: Saturday 26 th - 08:00 hrs Duration: Weekend Cost: 10.000 CLP (round trip Talca-Pichilemu) + 10.000 CLP (surfboard + surf suit + surfing course) The steep cliffs and strong Pacific Ocean winds of the central coast Chile produce powerful waves and attract for those who enjoy these types of currents. It isn t uncommon to see professional and amateur surfers perform astonishing stunts on their surf, windsurf or kitesurf boards in these waters.
