Visitors: Steven Whitnall Matters arising from previous minutes: At a recent Executive meeting, the purchase of a fully automated defibrillator was discussed. Steve Towle has researched and presented a few options. Best option appears to be the Samaritan 500P for an all up cost of $3000. Executive all agreed this would be a good purchase for the club to make, and determined to present a motion at tonight s general meeting. Steve spoke on the benefits of the device and answered several queries. Luke Clout moved a motion that the club purchase a Samaritan 500P for a total cost of $3000. Seconded by Steve Carlin. Motion carried. Steve Towle will progress purchase. Noted would be good to have in time for the upcoming Christmas party. o Defibrillator has been delivered and is available for all club trips. Currently stored with 4WD Association. Training to be arranged sometime in the new year. o 16/01/2017 - Courses are still available, date yet to be determined Steve Towle o 20/02/2017 Course date still to be determined. Steve Towle to arrange. Michael Giles asked if the Association could be approached to supply new / revised driver handbooks. Motion carried. Trip/Social Reports: Nil Events Committee Report (Upcoming events): Friday 10 th March 2017 Mick Giles and Lyndon Chandler are running a camping weekend to Kylies Beach. Meet at ARB at 5:30pm. Activities include day drive to Harrington area, beach driving and fishing. Contact Michael or Lyndon for more info. Sunday 12 th March 2017 Gavin is running a day trip around the Lorne area with lunch at the Macadamia farm. See flyer in newsletter for more details or contact Gavin at gavjan1@gmail.com or 0428 462 701 Saturday 8 th April 2017 Sunday 23 rd April 2017 Gavin is running a 2 week trip following the QLD / NSW border between Tweed Heads and Mungindi. This trip essentially follows the wiggly part of the border. Areas we will be visiting will include Lamington National Park, Mt Warning, Border Ranges National Park, Lions Road, Bald Rock National Park, Sundown National Park, 1 Ton Post + heaps more. Trip will be grade 2 with campers and up to grade 4 (day trips without campers). Combination of caravan park and bush camping. Total trip distance around 2000kms. Maximum of 10 vehicles. The tastes, the smells, the sights, the sounds...the wonderful feeling of sitting around a camp fire with good food, good people and good yarns. A celebration of the wonderful Aussie outdoor lifestyle, a love of and care for the natural environment, and good old fashioned family fun. Come along and enjoy great music, camp oven demonstrations and competitions, bush poetry, the Saturday Night Bush Dance, markets, dog trials, lots of kids activities and more. Trip Gradings 1. Scenic drive, little or no 4WDing. 2. Scenic with plenty of basic, easy 4WDing and some tricky sections. 3. Medium 4WDing on well used trails with little or no overgrowth. 4. Medium 4WDing on little used and overgrown trails. 5. Difficult hands on 4WDing. Recovery gear essential. Minimum Vehicle Requirements (AT ALL TIMES) Vehicles must be fitted with a UHF CB radio. The trip will include swimming, fishing, scenic drives and beach driving. Banda Newsletter Page 12 Day Drive Lorne Area DAY DRIVE TO LORNE AREA WITH LUNCH AT MACADAMIA FARM SUNDAY 12th MARCH WHERE: Day drive to Lorne and surrounding areas. Grade 2-3 drive. Mainly forestry roads with the odd challenge thrown in to justify your purchase of a 4WD FACILITIES: Morning tea & lunch will have toilets. No other facilities. WHEN: Departing from the McDonalds carpark at the Donut 7:30am on Sunday 12th March. LUNCH: Lunch is $20 per head and will be alternate drop of either warm chicken salad or homemade lasagne. Desert will be follow with an alternate drop of Rich chocolate macadamia brownie with macadamia ice cream OR Baked blueberry and passionfruit cheesecake with macadamia ice cream. Tea / cappucino available for additional $4 Drinks are BYO (including alcohol). Need to bring your own glass. Soft drinks are available to purchase. We will also be getting a tour and talk about harvesting & processing of the macadamias. WHAT TO BRING: Morning tea and drinks. Sturdy walking shoes & hat. Full tank of fuel. Camera.
