Tivoli/Plus for ADSM 1.0 8 Tivoli/Plus for??? Release Notes

Tivoli/Plus for ADSM 1.0 System Requirements The Tivoli/Plus for ADSM module provides management of the ADSM version 1.2 server application and ADSM version 2.1 client application. The following table indicates the operating systems supported by the Tivoli/Plus for ADSM module. Tivoli/Plus for ADSM Supported Operating Systems SunOS 4.x Solaris 2.3 Solaris 2.4 HP-UX 9.x AIX 3.2.5 OS/2 2.x Windows 3.x Server Client Using a Non-Default ADSM Location If the ADSM binaries are not located in the default directory structure, the Tivoli/Plus for ADSM module will not be able to locate the ADSM server and client binaries. If this situation occurs, the ADSM server icon is not displayed in the Tivoli/Plus for ADSM Management window. If you have changed the default location for the ADSM server and client binaries, you can make the Tivoli/Plus for ADSM module aware of the custom location by using the wsetattr command. To set the ADSM server location, enter: wsetattr PathName adsm_svr_loc @ManagedNode:Name where PathName is the path to the ADSM server binaries and Name is the TME managed machine containing the ADSM binaries. To set the ADSM client location, enter: wsetattr PathName adsm_clt_loc @ManagedNode:Name where PathName is the path to the ADSM client binaries and Name is the TME managed machine containing the ADSM binaries. General Information Adding Tivoli/Sentry, Tivoli/Courier, or the Tivoli/Enterprise Console If you install Tivoli/Sentry, Tivoli/Courier, or the Tivoli/Enterprise Console after you have installed a Tivoli/Plus module, you must reinstall the Tivoli/Plus module to gain the benefits of the added application. If you have additional questions, please contact Tivoli Customer Support at 1-800-TIVOLI-8. Known Defects Applying to All Tivoli/Plus Modules Defect # Description 13767 Installing a Tivoli/Plus module may overwrite or move the TroubleTicket.sh script used to integrate events with the Tivoli/Enterprise Console. Therefore, any previous customization of the TroubleTicket.sh script is lost and must be reapplied after installing the Tivoli/Plus module. 14277 The installation process for the Tivoli/Plus modules may fail if the Tivoli/Courier, Tivoli/Sentry, and Tivoli/Enterprise Console products are not installed. It should be noted that the Tivoli/Enterprise Console for AIX version 4.1 is not yet available. The information for defect number 14277 also applies to defect numbers 14276 and 14140. 6 Tivoli/Plus for??? Release Notes

Installing a Tivoli/Plus Module where: product-codeis a string code that corresponds to the module name. The following is a list of product codes for each module: PRODUCT CODEMODULE NAME MAESTROPLUSTivoli/Plus for Maestro version 1.0 ARSPLUSTivoli/Plus for AR System version 1.0.1 NWPLUSTivoli/Plus for NetWorker Version 1.0 ADSMPLUSTivoli/Plus for ADSM Version 1.0 SEOSPLUSTivoli/Plus for SeOS version 1.0 BOKSPLUSTivoli/Plus for BoKS version 1.0 PRGPLUSTivoli/Plus for ServiceCenter version 1.0.1 SCOPUSPLUSTivoli/Plus for Scopus version 1.0 license-key Is the license key for your module. To verify that the command has run successfully, use the odadmin get_prod_license subcommand to retrieve the license key for a given product code. For example, the following commands might be issued before installation of the Tivoli/Plus for SeOS module to both set and verify the license key. odadmin set_prod_license SEOSPLUS DBXMRSWS+QSCIPVJCSCV+FDVQXVQQABQDNL odadmin get_prod_license SEOSPLUS After entering the second command, the system displays the license key you have set for your module. For example: DBXMRSWS+QSCIPVJCSCV+FDVQXVQQABQDNL Sentry Monitoring Capability Collection Name The name of the Tivoli/Sentry monitoring collection has changed from Sentry2.0 to Unix_Sentry in version 3.0 of the Tivoli/Sentry application. Before installing a module on the TMP version 3.0 with Tivoli/Sentry version 3.0, use the following command to create an alias that allows both names to be valid. These commands do not alter any existing names; they only create an alias. set SOID=`wlookup -r MonitoringCapabilityCollection Unix_Sentry` wregister -r MonitoringCapabilityCollection Sentry2.0 "$SOID" Tivoli/Plus for??? General Information TME Desktop, select Backup to perform a backup of the TME server and clients. You can also use the Tivoli Management Platform (TMP) wbkupdb command. See the documentation in the Tivoli Management Platform Reference Manual for details. To install a Tivoli/Plus module, please follow the instructions given in the Getting Started chapter of the module s user guide. Remember, before installing any Tivoli applications, you should always back up your TME database. Reinstalling a Tivoli/Plus Module Installing Upgrades Each time you execute the installation procedure of a particular module, another copy of the Tivoli/Sentry monitors (if you have Tivoli/Sentry) is added to the Sentry Profiles of your central and remote monitors. Adding new monitors, rather than overwriting the existing ones, preserves any modifications you may have made to the schedules, thresholds, severities and actions of the existing monitors. Use the same procedure for upgrading a Tivoli/Plus module as you used to install the module. Note: If you have modified any of the scripts in the module, you should copy them to a safe place before upgrading, as the upgrade process will overwrite the existing files. Installing on the Tivoli Management Platform Version 3.0 An upgrade for installing the Tivoli/Plus modules on the TMP version 3.0 is forthcoming. In the meantime, complete the instructions in this section before installing a module on the TMP version 3.0. These instructions describe how to avoid the problems with licensing and the Tivoli/Sentry monitor collection that occur when installing the current modules on the TMP version 3.0. Once you have successfully completed these instructions, you can follow the usual procedure for installing Tivoli/Plus modules. This procedure is documented in the Getting Started chapter of each module s user guide. Note: The Tivoli/Plus for Scopus version 1.0 module already has the features necessary to support installation on the TMP platform version 3.0. You do not need to complete the instructions in this section to install Tivoli/Plus for Scopus version 1.0 on the TMP version 3.0. License Keys In the TMP version 3.0, the only required license key is for the platform itself. Furthermore, the installation process for installing Tivoli applications on the TMP version 3.0 no longer has a dialog for entering an application s license key. These factors cause the installation of a Tivoli/Plus module to fail the license key check in the install script. The odadmin platform command, however, provides the ability to manually enter a license key. Use the odadmin set_prod_license subcommand to set the license key before installation begins. The command syntax is as follows: odadmin set_prod_license product-code license-key 4 Tivoli/Plus for??? Release Notes
