>> PRESS RELEASE THIS IS NOT A CASTLE, IT IS THE STATE PARLIAMENT The rebuilt Potsdam City Castle is the new seat to the Brandenburg State Parliament and it has been equipped with chairs and tables made by Brunner. Whether committee sessions, meetings among a few colleagues or informal talks on the sunny roof terrace: the chairs and tables made by Brunner accompany the politicians in the rebuilt Potsdam City Castle, which since the end of 2013 has been the new home of the Brandenburg State Parliament for their daily work. The Potsdam City Castle is a new building with a long history: this area located in the city centre ranks among the oldest settlement areas in Potsdam, and it used to accommodate different fortification and castle buildings. The castle got its final look by Frederick II, King of Prussia, who developed Potsdam to become a residential city and who in 1745 put the architect Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff in charge of rebuilding the baroque castle in Frederick Rococo style. During the Second World War, the castle burned down and was torn down completely in the 1960 s. In 2005, the Brandenburg State Parliament decided to rebuild the castle at its former site as a new building with a historical façade to serve as the new seat of the Brandenburg State Parliament. In order to manage the balancing act between historic specifications and the requirements of a modern public administration building, Peter Kulka was selected as architect-in-charge.
>> 2 Policy made on Brunner chairs Kulka reconstructed the historical sandstone façade. Inside the building, however, only the reconstructed Knobelsdorff staircase hall is still reminiscent of the historic original. Otherwise, the building is completely modern, sporting the State colours of white, red and silver as its colour concept. This is not a castle, it is the State Parliament, Kulka clarifies. Since the completion at the end of 2013, the plenary hall, several conference halls, meeting rooms and offices provide sufficient working space for the Parliamentary factions. The architect from Dresden equipped the conference halls and meeting rooms with comfortable finasoft conference chairs as well as linos stacking chairs, both made by Brunner. These have been combined with stable trust folding tables equipped with MIS socket outlets, mounted flush in the table tops, to provide electrification. In addition, weather-resistant twin plastic chairs and salsa central column tables have been deployed in the outer area of the public cafeteria. >> 3 1 Only thanks to a donation by SAP founder Hasso Plattner, the historic sandstone façade and the copper roof could be realised. 2 The inner courtyard is open to the public and offers a view of the Fortuna portal; it links the City Castle with the buildings along the Potsdam Old Marketplace. 3 Inside, the City Castle has been designed with a light and modern touch, answering all requirements of a public administration building. 4 The finasoft conference chairs with their black fabric covers constitute a pleasant contrast to the white and red interior decoration. 5 Representative and comfortable the finasoft conference chairs provide a high level of seating comfort even during long meetings. 6 If necessary, the linos stacking chairs may be equipped with a writing tablar for the press and for visitors.
>> 4 7 Even in the smaller meeting rooms, the trust folding tables have been equipped with MIS socket outlets. 8 Lightweight, yet stable the trust folding tables are easy to configure, and thanks to their sophisticated mechanism, they can also be stacked in a space-saving manner. 9 The roof terrace of the public cafeteria has been equipped with weather-resistant twin plastic chairs and salsa central column tables.
>> 5 Brunner products in the Brandenburg State Parliament 10 fina is among those contract furniture series offering the most variants, thus being one of the most versatile series in the Brunner product portfolio. All versions share the slim, elegantly curved seat shell, also featured in the finasoft conference chair (pictured here). Design: Wolfgang C.R. Mezger. (Photography: Brunner GmbH) 11 linos is a real all-rounder: grouped around a table, it is just as good-looking as when placed in rows, e.g. in event halls. At trade shows and congresses, seminar and training areas, banquets and in the cafeteria, this stacking chair comes into its own. (Photography: Brunner GmbH) 12 It may not look it, yet this is a folding table: trust. Thanks to its intelligent one-hand mechanism, it only takes one person to fold it down with just one move for stacking. (Photography: Brunner GmbH) 13 Robust, easy-to-clean and weather resistant: these are features which serve as an outstanding recommendation for plastic chair twin to be deployed in the outdoor areas of restaurants and cafés. twin is made all of one piece and is available in many colours.
