CS Events Milan Visits and experiences BEST OF MILAN Milan is Art, History, Fashion and Culture. Milan is the most dynamic and rich city in Italy. Milan is discreet: it seems to be a city dedicated just to fashion and business, but it is so much more! Milan was founded 6th century B.C. and it was the Capital of the Roman Empire for almost 200 years. Discover its secrets with your Private Guide. Some of the most beautiful sites you can explore with your Guide is the impressive Duomo Cathedral, one of the biggest Cathedral in the world. The Duomo Cathedral was built in six centuries and all the main masterpieces and secrets will be part of your visit. The tour will continue with the fascinating "Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II", a 19th century glass vaulted shopping arcade, one of the fisrt example of Art Nouveau Style in the world. In Milan, the Galleria is still called "the living room of the Milaneses", because it was the meeting point of Artists, Poets, and Men of Letters in the 19th century, in its bar and cafès, still existing inside the Galleria. You will enjoy the Square of La Scala Theatre Opera House, one of the biggest and most modern Theatre in the world since 1776, when it was made by Giuseppe PIermarini, the most important architect in Milan in the late 18th century. Enjoy the Sforza Castle: the Fortress of Milan. The imposing Medieval Castle has in the inside spectacular internal courts and you will decide if to enjoy one of the most important museum that are today in the inside, the Museum of Ancient Art, with masterpieces by Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, the Pietà Rondanini.

CS Events Milan Visits and experiences ON THE FOOTSTEPS OF LEONARDO It was in Milan where Leonardo spent a long and fruitful time of his life as an artist. The city of Milan still treasures some of his works. On our tour of Leonardo da Vinci we will immerse you in the cultural climate in which he lived and worked in order for you to fully understand his artistic choices. There is no better place to start than at the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, a treasure chest that displays the Portrait of a Musician and the Atlantic Codex by Leonardo da Vinci. The Codex is a stunning collection of studies and drawings that gives the measure of Leonardo's genius. He was a man curious about everything and for whom no aspect of reality was indifferent. As we continue on we find Leonardo's unmistakable personality is also present in the Sala delle Asse of the Castello Sforzesco, where his boundless curiosity for reality becomes evident. Another stop on the discovery of Leonardo's Milan is at Santa Maria delle Grazie, a Renaissance jewel where he worked closely with another artistic genius, Donato Bramante. Here you will admire the famous «Last Supper»

CS Events Milan Visits and experiences THE NAVIGLI Milan peculiar water system Discover old Milan and its rhymes and rhythms marked by the flowing of water along its canals, a hidden and lost treasure of history, memory and peculiarities of a city born on water. Discover the inextricable link between the capital of Lombardy and water, a link which dates back to the twelfth century, with the construction of the ship canal. The first canal, the Ticinello, was inaugurated in 1179, giving way to the realization of the Naviglio Grande. Then came the Naviglio della Martesana. In total, 90 kilometers of canals were built, which were made navigable by the presence of 25 sluices. At the end of the 15th century, the project was completed by the innovative system of sluices designed by Leonardo da Vinci. Today the canals of Milan are full of bars, restaurants, and old noble residences overlooking the water. The tour will start from the Basilica of St. Eustorgio, an early Christian church from the fourth century, where you will visit the Ark of the Magi, a large sarcophagus which, according to the legend, houses the relics of the three Magi. While walking along the new dock (completed in light of Expo2015) towards the Naviglio Pavese and the Naviglio Grande, your guide will provide you with explanations and anecdotes of the canal network, the contribution of Leonardo da Vinci, the commercial activities from the Middle Ages to the 19th century, the faces of yesterday and today of the Ticinese district, and its musical traditions and sports. You will visit one of the most picturesque and historical corners of Milan: Vicolo dei Lavandai (Alley of the laundress), which gets its name from an old wash house used by women to do the laundry. You'll learn all the washerwomen s tricks of the job and visit the courtyard of a typical Milanese "banister house".

CS Events Milan - Museums THE SCALA THEATRE AND MUSEUM The Museum was inaugurated on the 8th of March 1913 Over the years numerous donations and purchases added to the Sambon collection, which is today one of the most famous collections in the world. The most important deposits are in the "Casa di riposo per musicisti" (retirement-home for musicians) founded by Giuseppe Verdi, as well as in public places. The Museum also includes the Library, founded with its present structure with the 40,000 volumes given in 1952 by Renato Simoni, author and critic of the Corriere della Sera who wanted it to be dedicated to his mother Livia, and which is continuously enriched and updated. The visit will end with a glimpse to the Theatre itself from a stall, only if there there are no performances or rehearsals taking place, PINACOTECA IN BRERA The Pinacoteca di Brera is Milan's largest art gallery and one of the most important in Italy. The gallery is housed in the Palazzo Brera, once a Jesuit college; the Brera district itself is one of the most chic and fashionable in this most fashion-driven city. The collection grew out of that of Milan s Academy of Fine Arts (housed in the same building and founded in 1776), and it's most famous works were acquired successively, with fine collections of Venetian and Lombard paintings from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Latterly two important collections of modern art have been added to the already impressive catalogue. The gallery is spread across more than 30 rooms on the first floor of the building MUSEO POLDI PEZZOLI The Poldi Pezzoli Museum in Milan is one of the most significant house-museums in Europe and shows the taste of one of the finest collectors of the 19th-century. Founded in 1881 by the collector Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli who devoted his entire life to the decoration of his apartment and to collecting works of art within his family s opulent Milan mansion. The result is an impressive collection of Renaissance Italian paintings including masterpieces by Pollaiolo, Botticelli, Giovanni Bellini, Mantegna, Piero della Francesca, Tiepolo and Guardi as well as a unique collection of exquisite items including porcelain, watches, jewels, glassware, tapestries and armour a real treasure trove housed within beautiful and intimate surroundings.

Sitting comfortably you will catch a first glimpse of the history and culture of the city: the imposing Renaissance entrance gates parallel to the city wall, the famous Basilica of San Zeno, the castle built by the Della Scala family, residence of the erstwhile rulers of Verona and very impressive even today thanks to its bridge and keep. You can now admire the elegant façade and belltower of the Cathedral, the roman theatre and the famous roman stone bridge, two jewels dating back to roman times and older than the Arena. Now it is time to walk through the old part of town: Piazza dei Signori, the elegant square of Verona, the tombs of the Della Scala family members, Piazza delle Erbe, our market square filled with color, sound and inviting smells. You will be carried back to the Middle Ages, to the time of Dante Alighieri, the poet who wrote the Divine Comedy in which the two rival families of the Montagues and the Capulets are mentioned. In fair Verona (Shakespeare s words) you will see the houses of Romeo and Juliet: two buildings from the XIVth century well kept even after 700 years in which mighty families lived. Via Mazzini, one of the main shopping streets in town allows you to window shop on the way to the main attraction of the city: the Arena. The amphitheatre was built in the first century after Christ a few years before the roman Colosseum -using a very precious building material: the marble from Verona. This same building material gave Verona the nickname of urbs marmorina (the city built out of stone) at the time of the Scaligeri domination. The last minutes of our tour are spent admiring Piazza Brà,the most important square in Verona with its many historical buildings and many bars and restaurants.* Lunch will be served during the excursion in a traditional restaurant. Turin is also Italy s modern and contemporary art capital and home to Italian cinema, and also Eataly.
