The itinerary Day 1 Australia Casablanca Today you ll leave Sydney for Casablanca, Morocco with Etihad Airways. Meals included: In flight Day 2 Casablanca Rabat You ll meet your tour leader at Casablanca airport and be taken to your hotel to relax for the night in Rabat. Overnight: Riad Dar Zouhour, Rabat Meals included: Dinner Day 3 Rabat Meknes Fez This morning you ll visit the medina of Rabat, including the Royal Palace, Kasbah des Oudayas, Mauseoleum of Mohammed V, and Hassan Tower. Then drive to the imperial city of Meknes, the Ismaili capital famous for its long walls. Visit Bab Mansour, the Royal Stables, and the Jewish quarter before heading to lunch at a traditional restaurant. Finally you ll go to the holy city of Moulay Idriss before seeing the ruins of the Roman city of Volubilis and continuing to Fez. Overnight: Riad Salam, Fez Day 4 Fez city tour The whole day is dedicated to exploring Fez, the spiritual capital of Morocco. You ll see the medieval medina including the Madersa Bou Inania and Attarine, the Nejjarine fountain, and Karaouine University. Enjoy lunch at a traditional restaurant in the medina (not included) before an afternoon visit to Fez El Jadid. Overnight: Riad Salam, Fez Day 5 Fez Merzouga This morning head towards the Middle Atlas Mountains. Witness both the climate and landscape change as you drive into southern Morocco, full of stunning landscapes, mountain lakes, and Berber villages. After Erfoud, the dunes of Erg Chebbi start to appear. Enjoy a camel ride to watch the sunset on the dunes before spending a night in a Kasbah at the foot of the dunes. Overnight: Riad Madu, Merzouga (Desert Experience) Day 6 Merzouga Erg Chebbi Dunes Discover breathtaking views from dune to dune, and picnic under the shade of the tamarisk tree. Here you ll find your ship of the desert waiting for you. Climb atop your camel and gently plod into the sand dunes like a true desert nomad. The sensation of being surrounded by endless desert is incredibly calming and the silence is overwhelming. Arrive at your accommodation, nestled in between the sand dunes. Take a walk along the rim of the sand dunes as the sun begins to set. Later that evening savour a traditional meal followed by music and dancing by the campfire. The itinerary Day 8 Boumalen Dades Qella M gouna Ouarzazate Today discover the beautiful Valley of Roses, famous for its rose gardens and adobe villages. Explore the village of Boutaghrar, known as the little Moroccan Colorado located at the foot of the Middle Atlas. Stroll through the village and meet the Berbers, who will treat you to lunch in a local family home. In the afternoon, continue to Ouarzazate, the Berber Hollywood and the Moroccan desert gate. Overnight: Riad Dar Chamaa, Ouarzazate Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner Day 9 Ouarzazate Taroudant This morning you ll visit the famous kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most fascinating kasbahs of Morocco. Aït Ben Haddou has been the location for several big budget films, including Alexander, Lawrence of Arabia, and Gladiator. Through the mountains of the Anti-Atlas, we head to Taznakht, a small town known for weaving Berber carpet. Have lunch (not included) in Taznakht before continuing to Taliouine, the capital of Saffron. In the afternoon you ll arrive in Taroudant. Overnight: Riad Dar Zitoune, Taroudant Day 10 Taroudant Tafraoute Take in Taroudant, located at the intersection of the Souss valley and the mountains of the High Atlas. Often referred to as little Marrakech, the city was the first capital of the Saadian s dynasty during the sixteenth century, and a refuge for rebel princes. Nowadays, it s a place for desert travellers to rest in the shade of its stunning ochre walls. Continue to Tafraoute, the city of almond trees, surrounded by impressive pink granite valleys that are beautifully illuminated by the desert sun. Continue your journey to Agadir, travelling the road along the Atlantic admiring the stunning seascapes. When you get to Essaouira, you ll have free time to explore before dinner. Overnight: Riad Mimouna, Essaouira Day 12 Welcome To Essaouira Today you ll get to see the medina of Essaouira, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001. The medina was once referred to as Mogador, meaning small fortress. Wind down with a magnificent sunset on the beach and meet local artisans in the souk. Overnight: Riad Mimouna, Essaouira Day 13 Essaouira Marrakech You ll have free time this morning to enjoy the unique atmosphere of Essaouira. Other important information Tour Guide vs Tour Leader Tour Guide: Often locals with intimate knowledge of an area, its culture, and history. Their role entails providing commentary, routing the tour, and seeing that people have a good time. They are a licensed, qualified expert who supplies specific information on history, art, architecture and culture of the city/village/attraction in which he or she is guiding the tour. The guide meets the group at the required place and leaves the group at the end of the tour, they do not travel with the group. Tour Leader: An experienced person tasked with ensuring the smooth operation of tours, as well as providing practical support to passengers throughout the whole trip. Their role primarily includes assisting with accommodation, transportation between locations, and communication with tour guides in each stop. A tour leader may provide general guidance around a city or village, and offer information on the place visited on the bus, however they are not required to have specific knowledge on art, architecture, or history. They are not allowed to provide a guided tour or commentary of a city/village/attraction once there and if caught doing so, can be fined. Please note: tour leaders/guides are not a standard inclusion in all travel offers. Tour leaders/guides will only be made available when particularly required to enhance the experience of the destination featured. Coach tour Meals: Daily breakfast is included in the tour, for all other meals; lunches and dinners the tour manager will offer assistance with reservations, suggestions and directions to local restaurants. You can also enquire about any allergies and food and if necessary advise meals to be to be prepared with any medication you require.
