DAY 1: DEPART FROM THE USA (Thursday) Overnight flight from Boston to Málaga. DAY 2: MÁLAGA (Friday) Bienvenidos a Málaga! The second largest city in Andalucía is rich in cultural heritage, home to famous artistic architecture and has a vibrant international atmosphere. A Forum Representative will meet you at the airport and help you transfer to Colegio Sagrada Familia el Monte in Málaga. Here you will experience what it is like to go to a high school in Spain, get to know local students, and be hosted by their families. In the afternoon, your Forum Tour Manager will take you on a walking tour through the center of Málaga. During your walk through the pedestrian streets of the Centro Historico, you ll see the iconic Calle Larios, the Roman amphitheater, and more. Enjoy an afternoon snack of churros con chocolate. Meet your host families and get settled in. While living with a host family, you will discover that Spanish is more than just a textbook language. It becomes a living and working language, spoken and written daily. You will eat Spanish food (at the standard Spanish meal times), meet Spanish people, and have an excellent opportunity to practice your Spanish in reallife situations. Enjoy your first evening with your host family. DAY 3: DAY TRIP TO RONDA (Saturday) After breakfast with your family, board your private motor coach to Ronda Nestled between the mountains, Ronda lives up to its reputation as one of the most scenic towns in Andalucía. On arrival, get ready for some adventure! Take part in a rock climbing activity to discover the beautiful Tajo of Ronda. Later, enjoy a guided tour of Ronda and visit its bullring, the oldest in Spain. Ronda is the birthplace of the art of tauromachia. Return to Málaga for dinner and night accommodation with your host family. DAY 4: DAY TRIP TO GRANADA (Sunday) After breakfast with your family, meet the rest of your group and head north to the city of Granada by private motor coach. Granada, located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, is known for its rich multicultural history and architecture. Meet your local guide and visit the revered Alhambra: a Moorish palace and fortress, dating back to the 14th century. Enjoy a guided tour through the Alcazaba (the fort), the Generalife (gardens), Charles V s Palace, and the Nasrid Palaces. Spend some time exploring the winding, narrow streets of the Albaycín quarter on the other side of the gorge from la Alhambra. Enjoy the atmosphere and beauty of the city.
Return to Málaga for dinner and night accommodation with your host families. DAY 5: SPANISH CLASSES & CULTURAL ACTIVITIES (Monday) Breakfast with your family before going to school. You will attend Spanish classes for approximately 3 hours every morning. All educational materials required during your stay will be provided to you. After your classes, you will have lunch at school. This afternoon, explore the Alcazaba of Málaga. Built into the hillside of Mount Gibralfaro on the ruins of another Roman bastion, the palacefortress was constructed in the 11th century. After reaching the top of Mount Gibralfaro, visit the interior of the Gibralfaro Castle. Return to your family for dinner and night accommodation. DAY 6: SPANISH CLASSES & CULTURAL ACTIVITIES (Tuesday) Breakfast with your family before going to school. Attend your Spanish classes in the morning. At lunch time, meet your Forum Tour Manager and head to the vibrant Atarazanas market. Here you will get some of the best ingredients you need for your cooking workshop this afternoon. First, enjoy an Extra Virgin Olive Oil Tasting of different local and award-winning olive oils with snacks like roasted almonds and the famous Aloreña olives. Then, learn how to cook a delicious paella and traditional gazpacho. In the afternoon, head to the Picasso Museum. Exhibits at the museum chart Picasso s progress from the late-19th century until his death in 1973. The museum is a few minutes away from the house where Picasso was born in Plaza de la Merced that you will visit afterwards. Enjoy some free time in the city center. Return to your family for dinner and night accommodation. DAY 7: DAY TRIP TO MIJAS & BENALMADENA (Wednesday) Breakfast with your family. This morning, drive to the town of Mijas. You ll find whitewashed corners, patios, gardens, chapels and historic buildings - all with characteristics of the Arab era. In the town s old center, you ll find many of the main attractions that Mijas has to offer, including the tiny bullring, two Mudejarstyle churches, the remains of the old Arab wall and the shrine to the Virgen de la Peña - the town s patron saint. On the way back, stop at Benalmadena and take its impressive cable car to go up to the Monte Calamorro. Right in the middle of the nature, you ll be able to enjoy an amazing view on the whole Costa del Sol, Sierra Nevada and even Gibraltar and the African Coast should the weather permit it. Return to your family for dinner and night accommodation. DAY 8: MÁLAGA (Thursday) Breakfast with your family.
This morning, head to the newly renovated port of Málaga: Muelle Uno. First, visit the Centre Pompidou, Málaga. This world-famous French modern art gallery opened its first pop-up museum outside of France here in Málaga. After your museum visit, board a boat to take a relaxing cruise along the coast of Málaga. The rest of the afternoon is yours! Do some last-minute souvenir shopping in the open-air shopping center of Muelle Uno, or head to the Malagueta beach to play beach volley or relax. Tonight, enjoy a farewell dinner with your group at a traditional Flamenco show. Return to your family for night accommodation. DAY 9: DEPART (Friday) This morning after breakfast, say hasta luego to your host families before transferring to the airport to catch your flight back home.
