We will be day hiking in and around Lake Louise. The schedule from 5:00pm is as follows: 9:00am Arrive at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise 9:00am. Hike Lake Agnes & the Beehives Start/Finish: Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Duration: 4 hours round trip Distance: 10.8km (6.6 miles) Difficulty: Moderate-difficult Begin on the Lake Louise shoreline trail, and take the fork on the right after about 800m (0.5 miles) as it ascends into the forest. The path zigzags through the trees for about 45 minutes before emerging at the glassy surface of Mirror Lake, famous for its photogenic reflection of the Big
2 Beehive. (The lake makes a good place to refuel before continuing on the steep climb to Lake Agnes itself.) The trail divides at Mirror Lake. You can reach the lake via the right-hand trail, but the most straightforward route is to take a left from the lake and then an immediate right after about 100m for the direct climb to the teahouse. It s a steep slog through the forest for a further 15 minutes, but you ll have good views as the trees begin to thin out. The final section passes a waterfall and traverses a near-vertical set of wooden stairs before emerging at the teahouse (open 9:00am-6:00pm). From the teahouse take the trail to the top of the Little Beehive (105m/344ft. elevation gain) before heading around the right side of the lake en route to its bigger brother, the Big Beehive (135m/442 ft. elevation gain), which you ll reach after 1.6 km (1 mile) of relentless, leg-shredding switchbacks. The view is awesome! From the top retrace your steps back to the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. 2:00pm 2:00-3:00pm 3:00pm Be back to the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Check out the shops and relax Depart for Takakkaw Falls Drive to the Takakkaw Falls Parking Lot (by continuing west on the Trans-Canada Highway #1 out of Lake Louise Turn right at the sign for Takakkaw Falls snake 13km (8 miles) up to the Parking Lot Hike to Takakkaw Falls: Takakkaw translates as it s magnificent for the Cree language.
