DNM Network Operations Report Analysis - June 212 1

In June 212, some main airports continued to experience a decrease in traffic (e.g. Paris CDG, London Heathrow, Madrid, Rome Fiumicino and Barcelona) compared to 211 while Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Munich, Istanbul Ataturk and Vienna experienced an increase in traffic. The largest decrease was at Ferihegy Budapest (-2.3%) as a result of Malév Hungarian Airlines ceasing operations in February 212. Helsinki and Prague also recorded significant decrease in traffic. The 11. traffic decrease at Madrid Barajas airport is the result of overall traffic reduction in Spain in conjunction with Spanair cessation of operations in January 212. The largest traffic increase was observed at Warsaw (14.9%) and Istanbul Ataturk (13.9 %).airports. The increase at Warsaw was due to EURO 212, while growth Istanbul is due to ongoing traffic increase in Turkey For air operators, the most significant decreases were for Air Nostrum (-28.9%), Air Baltic (-19.9%) and Regional Airlines (-14.5 %). The largest growth was for United Airlines (137.5 %) and Aerosvit Airlines (29.7 %). Many of these changes were due to airline consolidation and restructuring rather than traffic growth. With the exception of Alitalia, the traffic for the top 1 carriers (Lufthansa, Ryanair, Easyjet,Turkish Airlines, Air France, SAS, Air Berlin, British Airways and KLM) increased in June 212 compared to June 211. Unidentified operators (mainly General Aviation) recorded a decrease of 4.9% in June 212. DNM Network Operations Report Analysis - June 212 2

Bodo, Oslo, Stavanger, Tallinn, Warsaw, Chisinau, Kiev, Dnipropetrovsk, L Viv and Odessa ACCs experienced a significant increase in traffic. The increase in traffic in Poland and Ukraine was linked to the EURO 212. Malta recorded an increase of 31. compared to June 211; this increase is traffic recovery from last year s Libyan airspace closure. Madrid, Seville, Canaries, Tampere and Skopje ACCs recorded significant decreases in traffic. DNM Network Operations Report Analysis - June 212 3

Sat, 3 June: The main reason for delay was en-route ATC capacity in Barcelona, Marseille, Reims, Munich and Warsaw ACCs. Palma de Mallorca recorded significant delays due to airport capacity. Significant ATC staffing delays were recorded in Oslo and Marseille ACCs. DNM Network Operations Report Analysis - June 212 1

6. ALL AIR TRANSPORT DELAYS (Source: CODA) The analysis below is based on airline data provided to CODA by airlines (AO's). As the airline data collection for, June 212 is not yet complete at the time of writing, this analysis covers the latest available 13-month period (May 211-May 212) and contains details on 6 of commercial flights in the ECAC region ATFM delays reported by airlines are often lower than the ATFM delays calculated by the network manager (NM). ATFM delays of NM are the (flight) planned delays whereas the airlines report the actual experienced ATFM delay on departure. For instance, a flight with an ATFM delay may also have a handling delay absorbed within the ATFM delay. For the airline, a part of this delay is the ATFM delay and the rest is the handling delay Avg departure delay/flight (min) 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 Breakdow n average delay per flight May 212,5 Average En- Route Delay/Flight,3 Average En- Route Delay/Flight NM reported En-Route ATFM delay Primary Delay (excl En-Route) 4,4 Average primary delay 8, Passenger experience Airline Reported En-Route ATFM Delay Reactionary delay Airline reported en-route ATFM delay in May 212 was.3 minute per flight which is slightly lower than the NM reported average en-route ATFM delay of.5 minute per flight. As airlines may assign multiple delay reasons for a delayed flight, some of the en-route ATFM delay may be attributed to other reasons if the other reason prevented the flight from obtaining a slot improvement. A common example is a NM reported en-route ATFM delay reported by airlines as a split between reactionary and en-route ATFM delay. According to airline reports, in May 212 the average delay per flight for all-causes of delay was 8. minutes. The primary delay share of total all-causes delay was 5 (or 4.4 min/flt) of which en-route delays contributed.3 min/flt. In June the percentage of late and early non-compliant departures has slightly increased. Although the overall percentage of traffic departing within their slot tolerance window is above the target (at least 8) there are many airports for which compliance can be improved. Following the general seasonal trend the absolute numbers of flights departing outside the Slot Tolerance Window has increased. However, compared to the same period in 211, the absolute figures show a considerable overall improvement. There are also considerable difference at the level of the countries and airports. Some countries achieve an adherence of 9 and above, whereas other countries only reach a level of 7 adherence to ATFM slots. A continuous positive trend of improvement can be observed especially in Greece and Turkey The chart below shows the top 4 airports (more than 3 regulated flights) with their average daily number and proportion of regulated flights that departed outside of the Slot Tolerance Window Proportion of regulated flights outside the Slot Tolerance Window in June 212 4 4 4 3 3 2 9 7 5 8 3 3 6 3 23 2 1 4 4 6 1 3 8 4 13 3 11 2 4 4 5 13 6 2 7 2 6 13 8 3 3 1 1 2 1 5 4 1 ANKARA-ESENBOGA DUBLIN ANTALYA TEL AVIV/BEN GURION PISA SAN GIUSTO BRISTOL/LULSGATE BIRMINGHAM PAPHOS PARIS CH DE GAULLE LARNACA SEILLE ISTANBUL-ATATURK NICE LUXEMBOURG MANCHESTER PARIS ORLY ZURICH LONDON/LUTON LONDON/HEATHROW VERONA HELSINKI-VANTAA BALE-MULHOUSE LISBOA SCHIPHOL KOELN-BONN OTOPENI-INTL.
