Dear Coeliac, on this and the following pages you will find further information about the Summer Camp 2009 in Berlin. We guide you through the registration process, show you the accommodation and already parts of the programme we have planned so far. If you are looking for even more information please contact one of the organisors - Dan Kühnau (dan.kuehnau@dzg-online.de). What is a CYE Summer Camp? The Summer Camp is one of the most famous projects of the Coeliac Youth of Europe (CYE). It started in Hungary in 1999 when youngsters from all over Europe met for the first time to enjoy part of their summer time together. Since then, every year another European country is hosting the CYE Summer Camp. Luckily this year it will be Germany. 40 Participants with coeliac disease between 18 and 30 years are welcome. To ensure the communication between the participants of the Summer Camp the official language in the camp will be English. We are looking forward to seeing you. Your summer camp organisation Anne, Hannah, Helen, Melissa, Sabine, Steffi, Dan and Dirk The organisers We are a team of eight persons to prepare the CYE Summer Camp 2009. Our kick-off meeting was in January 2009. We will organise the event and also lead through the programme in July. All of us are used to live gluten-free. Part of our team is Steffi, a dietician, who will take care of the gluten-free food.

Begin and End of the Summer Camp 2009 The Summer Camp 2009 begins in the late afternoon of the 24 th of July 2009. We will meet at the St. Michaelisheim in Berlin-Grunewald, where we will be staying during the Summer Camp 2009. After the check-in we are going to start with a dinner. There is the possibility for late arrivals on the 24th. In this case please contact us in advance. The Summer Camp 2009 will end on Saturday the 1 st of August just after breakfast (Our rooms have to be left till 9 am). If you plan to depart in the afternoon or later you can store your luggage in the St. Michelisheim or - what we would suggest - you could use the lockers at Berlin main station to store your luggage. Accommodation The Summer Camp takes place near the Grunewald forest in Berlin. Our youth hostel has already been tested by a group of German coeliacs in 2007 during a national activity. The St. Michaelisheim is prepared for international youth groups. You will sleep in multi-person rooms. Showers and bathrooms are available on each floor. Please be aware that it is a non-smoking accommodation. For more information go to: www.st-michaelis-heim.de; (unfortunately the page is not available in English).

www.flick.com The Surrounding The St. Michaelisheim is situated in Grunewald near the Wannsee. The Wannsee is the biggest and most famous lake of Berlin. Clubs and discotheques require a trip by bus or underground. What s on? The programme for the Summer Camp 2009 is not completed yet. It might also change according to the weather conditions. Nevertheless, here are some highlights we are planning: - visits of Berlin at daytime and, of course, for parties and pub visits at night - pizza and pasta party - beach volleyball and beach soccer - field trip to Potsdam with its famous chateaus You will also have a lot of spare time to discover Berlin on your own. maps.google.com www.pixelio.de Lodging Gluten-free food during the Summer Camp is obligatory. We are all used to the gluten-free diet. Additionally, we have one dietetic professional on board. If you have further food intolerances or allergies, please inform us in advance. Therefore please fill in your needs in the application form. We can handle most of other intolerances and allergies if we know them in advance. Costs The summer camp will cost 380 Euros. This includes: - accommodation and full pension - entrance fees for all activities planned for the whole group - tickets for the public transport in Berlin and for the field trips; maps.google.com

Registration The registration takes place on the website of the German Youth Board. It starts on the 1 st of March at 12 am (Middle European Timezone, GMT+1) on www.dzg-jugend.de. This will be the only possible way to register! After having registered you will get the information whether you will have been accepted or you will only be on the waiting list. If you are accepted, you will receive an application form which you will have to fill out within two weeks. Otherwise you will lose your place at the Summer Camp and people from the waiting list get the chance to register.. picture: realtravel.com Further information Every registered participant will get the last information for the Summer Camp in June 2009. The information letter will include a final list of participants, things you should take with you and all other information, which you will need to know before your arrival in Berlin. picture: realtravel.com How to get to the hostel The travel to and from the Summer Camp has to be organised by everybody on his own. These travel expenses are not included in the 380 Euros. To keep your travel expenses low, we will send you the list of all participants about six weeks before the beginning of the Summer Camp. Perhaps you can coordinate your travel with somebody else from your country. We would also like to give you some detailed information on the picture: realtravel.com next page.
