Nakskov Fjord Nature Park Nakskov Fjord has the greatest number of islands of any Danish ord with 10 large and small islands and a 7.5 km long spit called Albuen (the Elbow). The ord with its islands covers an area of approximately 50 km 2. The ord has both natural and man-made channels. The oldest channel was formed by a glacial stream when the ice began to melt during the last Ice Age. Sailing trips on the ord almost always follow this channel. On the islands and on Albuen there are many historical relics from the Middle Ages, including the shipyard on the island of Slotø, herring stalls on Albuen, and one of the finest historical coastal environments on Albuen with fishermen, lookouts, pilots and even a school. ORDINARY TOURS Post Boat tour Join the Post Boat on its work route. It calls at several islands which ones we cannot say as no two days are alike. A one-hour stop is made at Albuen. Bicycles and well-behaved dogs may be brought along. Departure from Havnegade at 9:00. Duration approximately 4.5 hours. Post Boat tours with a nature guide As a new feature on tuesdays, we offer Post Boat tours with a nature guide, who will talk about the nature and history of the ord en route as well as on Enehøje and Albuen. Departure from Havnegade at 9:00. Duration approximately 4.5 hours. Short island tour This tour goes to Slotø with the castle ruin of Engelsborg, which was the birthplace of the Danish Navy in 1510. The master will usually tell the story of the castle and the shipyard. Departure from Havnegade at 14:00. Duration approximately 2 hours.
Island hopper A tour for people who collect islands or people who just want to visit the islands at which the Post Boat calls, namely: Slotø, Vejlø and Enehøje. The Post Boat makes a short stop at each island, and for those who are interested the master will give a brief account of the history of the islands. Departure from Havnegade at 14:00. Duration approximately 3.5 hours. Sunset tour to Albuen We sail along the old channel and past the many beautiful islands in the ord to Albuen where we will make a stop for about 1 hour. Bring a picnic basket or go for a walk in the unique natural environment. Departure from Havnegade at 18:00. Duration approximately 3.5 hours. Sunset tour to Enehøje We sail along the old channel to Enehøje. Bring a picnic basket and sit down at one of the many picnic tables that have been installed around the island. Bring a bucket and pick some of the wonderfully aromatic late summer blackberries that are found in abundance on the island. You can also go for an evening swim on the lovely, child-friendly beach on the western side of the island. The stay on the island lasts about 1.5 hours. Departure from Havnegade at 18:00. Maribo Lakes Nature Park The Maribo lakes (Maribosøerne) are Lolland s largest contiguous freshwater area and can be experienced at close range onboard the tour boat Anemonen. In addition to the beautiful and protected environment, the area offers many cultural and historical sights. Maribo Lakes Nature Park is a generic term for four lakes and surrounding areas: Søndersø, Røgbølle Lake, Hejrede Lake and Nørresø, all surrounded by large forest and marsh areas and cultivated fields. Søndersø is Denmark s eighth largest lake with a water area of 852 hectares. It consists of three basins and with its 13 regular islands, 6 islets and 3 marshy-islands, is easily Denmark s most island-rich lake. The average depth is 1.7 m and the maximum depth is 5 m. The lake measures 32 km in circumference. Røgbølle Lake of 200 hectares is the second largest lake. Hejrede Lake covers 50 ha, and Nørresø covers 40 ha. The tour boat Anemonen only sails on parts of Søndersø out of consideration for animal life and private property.
Borgø With its 17 acres Borgø is the largest of the islands in Søndersø. Originally the island was only half this size, but a er several changes in water levels over time, it has nearly doubled its size. The old castle hill of the former Revshaleborg is found on the island s western side. The castle, which burned down in 1256, is believed to date from the 12th century and once covered one third of the island. Borgø was the place where people met to dance on fine summer days through the 1900s. TOURS WITHOUT A GUIDE Non-Stop The tour boat Anemonen sails a 50-minute circular, nonstop tour on Søndersø. The tour can be used as a source of inspiration for more discoveries in the nature park. Duration approximately 1 hour. Evening Tour Join us on a 2 hours boat trip on Maribo Søndersø, there will be plenty of time to enjoy your own brought food and beverage. Duration approximately 2 hours. Borgø trip Take a trip to the largest island in Søndersø and see the remains of the old medieval castle Revshaleborg. The island has gradually been transformed into an exclusive natural area of untouched forest, so walking is only allowed on the established paths. Duration approximately 2 hours.
DISCOVERY TOURS WITH A GUIDE Excursion to Skelsnæs and Borgø First we visit the Golden Age pavilion from 1822, situated in the middle of Skelsnæs in Søndersø. This is followed by a break, tables and benches are available. Then the trip continues to Borgø with a guide who covers the island s ancient and modern history, and the flora and fauna. Duration approximately 3.5 hours. Excursion to the realm of the white tailed eagle At this time of year it is possible to see both eagles and ospreys at the Maribo Lakes. The white tailed eagle is resident all year, while the osprey arrives during migration April-May and August-September. Occasionally ospreys remain through the summer months, though not (yet) registered as breeding birds on the lakes. Should the eagles fail to show, one can see many other bird species at Søndersø, so bird watching is guaranteed. Duration approximately 3.5 hours. Please feel free to bring food and drinks along on the trips. CHARTER TOURS The tourboat Anemonen can be chartered for all occasions in the season. Minimum time one hour. A guide can be arranged. A 50 % discount is given on the Post Boat in Nakskov by exchanging a ticket for a yellow trip with the boat Anemonen, and vice versa. A tourist ticket from crossing to and from Askø, Fejø or Femø, if presented within a week of the crossing, will get 50 % off the yellow tours.
