RFTA is the second largest transit agency in the State and possibly the largest rural transit agency in the Nation. For over 30 years, RFTA has continuously exhibited leadership and innovation. In 2013, RFTA implemented VelociRFTA, the nation s first rural Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service. VelociRFTA has been so successful that regional commuter ridership increased 30%, exceeding all-time ridership records. RFTA transit service is critical for mobility and accessibility for citizens and visitors in the SH82 & I-70 service region; and RFTA provides regional transit connections between the I-70 and SH-82 mountain corridors and the rest of the State. RFTA s GMF will provide operational support for CDOT s Interregional Express Bus Service, Bustang, and for the Grand Avenue Bridge Replacement Project in Glenwood Springs. Robust local and regional transit services are critical to the region s mobility, economy, and quality of life. This project will position RFTA to maintain and expand vital transit services to meet community needs for the next 20 years or more. CDOT Region 3 encourages the U.S. DOT to provide TIGER funding for this important project.
