The Dynamar Cntainer Trades Reprts series Since 2004 Dynamar has been publishing reprts n specific cntainer liner trades. In essence, these cnsultancy studies prtray a trade frm the viewpint f a carrier that may cnsider entering the trade lane under review r if nt, already serves the rute and needs t keep track f the latest develpments. This explains the basis f these studies that in particular aim at prviding: - An assessment f the size f the trade (thrughputs, vlume, trade cntainer carrying capacity) - An in-depth cmpetitin inventry (services, ships, capacity analyses) The Dynamar Cntainer Trades Reprts cme in tw different frmats: 1) Cmprehensive, detailed single shipping-lane studies between tw defined trade areas 2) Key data-fcused multi trade lane studies t and frm ne specific area Bth types f reprts cver the abve defined general bjectives; the difference may be in the number f subjects and/r the detail with which they are discussed. It is the latter, multi-trade lane, frmat that has been used fr this particular publicatin n the East Africa, Sutherm Africa and Indian Ocean Islands (ESAf) trades. In that regard it cvers the six main intercntinental trade rutes that directly cnnect ESAf with much f the rest f the wrld. Included in this six is, mre accurately, an intra-cntinental aspect lking at links elsewhere within the greater African Cntinent. Further, reference is als made t the castal/dmestic ESAf trades. In line with previus reprts, this publicatin cvers the fllwing key areas: An intrductin t the trade (structure, key figures, trading cntext and prts cvered) Details f all individual liner shipping services carrying cntainers, srted by trade and their annualised trade vlume (cntainer carryings) Capacity analysis by individual trade lane, by service, vessel perating carrier and ECSA prts called Brief trade-related prfiles f the varius vessel deplying carriers perating n all trade lanes Similar prfiles and/r summaries f develpments f the varius ECSA prts called Cntainer trade statistics per majr trade lane, bth carrier vlume and prt thrughput based Main mving cmmdities t/frm ECSA and general merchandise trade verview General ecnmy develpments and individual ECSA cuntry prfiles Appendices with service grids, giving an at-a-glance verview f all shipping services per trade as well as specific vlumes alng certain trade rutes all supprted by ver eighty (80) tables r charts. This wide range f factrs and subjects make these reprts als f particular interest t ther stakehlders in the trade areas, including (alphabetically): cnsultants, cntainer leasing cmpanies, financiers, frwarders, NVOCCs, prt authrities, prt develpers, shippers, terminal peratrs, training institutes and thers. We trust that yu find the fllwing pages f use and interest and as always, welcme any cmments r feedback yu may have. Dirk Visser, Managing Editr Darrn Wadey MILT, Analyst Dynamar B.V. August 2011
