Introduction This guide is intended to ease your arrival and your stay in Barcelona during your participation to the seminar organized in the framework of the project Information and Training Seminars for Euro- Mediterranean Diplomats. Do not hesitate to contact the people listed at the end of this guide if you need extra support. I-Arrival in Barcelona A) Transportation from/to the El Prat Barcelona Airport Barcelona-El Prat Airport is located at 15 km from the centre of Barcelona (Plaça de Catalunya) and 3 km from the port. The journey time from the airport to the centre is between 30 to 45 minutes depending on the time of day. Airport telephone support: + 902 404 704 / +34 (0) 91 321 10 00 Website: http://www.aena-aeropuertos.es How to reach the Centre of Barcelona from the airport TAXI You will find a taxi rank outside any of the main terminal exits Terminal 1 (T1) or Terminal 2. Taxis operate all night. Expect to pay around 25.00 for the journey into the centre from T2 and 30.00 for your journey from T1. Barcelona Airport Taxis tel: +34 (0)93 303 3033 Public Transportation AEROBUS - Express bus service to Barcelona city centre from the airport The Aerobus service is an express bus service that links Barcelona airport to the city centre. You can catch the Aerobus from outside both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. This service normally runs between 6 and 15 minutes within its fixed hours of operation. The Aerobus will then take you to the city centre where you can alight either at Plaça Espanya or Plaça de Catalunya. From there you can catch the metro underground. Tickets to both T1 and T2 cost 5.90 for a single and 10.20 for a return (return ticket valid for 15 days). You can purchase your tickets for each Aerobus on the bus itself or, if you are travelling from T2, you can also buy them from the automatic ticket vending machines at each stop outside the airport terminals (there are no ticket machines outside T1). Airport, Terminal 2C The journey time from Barcelona Airport to Plaça Espanya is approximately 25 minutes. The journey time from Barcelona Airport to Plaça Catalunya is approximately 45 minutes. With all travel times it is important to take into consideration that traffic may affect the length of the journey. They have more stops than the Aerobus and it takes more time to travel to the city centre. You can use regular tickets at 2.15. TMB Aerport Bus To City Centre (Number 46): operates during the day between the hours of 05:00 to 00:15. If you are travelling to or from Barcelona City Centre you will need to either get on or off at Plaça Espanya Airport Night Bus: NitBus N17and N16 run approximately every 20 minutes from 21:55 and 04:45. N17 goes to Terminal 1 while N16 goes to Terminal 2A, 2B and 2C. Note that N16 does not go to Terminal 1 and if you don't get off a T2 the bus continues on to other destinations outside the airport RENFE TRAIN The RENFE train service runs approximately every 30 minutes to and from Barcelona airport to the city centre. If travelling from the airport to the city centre you can get off at Barcelona Sants, Passeig de Gràcia or Clot which are serviced by metro stops. From these you can change for the Barcelona metro underground system to go to your final destination. There are six fare zones, and prices depend on which zones you pass through. The airport is in fare zone 2. Departures from the airport from 05:42 to 23:38. Approximate journey time from the Airport station: El Prat de Llobregat: 6 minutes. Barcelona-Sants: 22 minutes. Barcelona-Passeig de Gràcia: 27 minutes. Granollers centre: 1 hour 3 minutes. A single ticket to Sants Station costs 3.80. Reaching the UfMS By taxi If you reach the UFMS by taxi, please give to the taxi driver the following information: On the right hand side of the Palau de Pedralbes, there is a street called Calle Pere Duran Farell (before it was called c. Fernando Primo de Ribera). At the end of the street, there is a small set of traffic lights with an intercom where the taxi driver can announce your arrival to the UFMS security. The entrance of the UFMS is a red gate at the end of the street on the left. By metro The metro station close to the UFM is Palau Reial. If you come from the airport, take the AEROBUS till Plaça Espanya than walk till the metro station Espanya (around 10 minutes) and take the green line Z3 direction Zona Universitaria till Palau Reial and walk approximately 10 minutes to the UfMS. 6

IV- Travel and commute in Barcelona Most of the transport is organized by the TMB Transports Metropolitans Barcelona. Barcelona has an efficient metro and bus system making it quick and easy to travel through the city. Fares: - Single tickets: A ticket valid for a single journey on a TMB bus, metro or the Montjuïc funicular. Price: 2.15 - T-10: A multi-person travel card allowing 10 journeys to be made on all operators. Price: 10.30 - Multi-day travel cards: This includes metro and bus (TMB), local train (FGC), tram (TRAM) and regional train (Rodalies de Catalunya). Price: 2 days: 14 ; 3 days: 20 ; 4 days: 25.50 ; 5 days: 30, 50 Buying your tickets: Metro automatic vending machines. Punt TMB information and customer service centres.
