Moose News Buckeye Lake Moose 2434 NOVEMBER 2011 LOOM NEWS The end of the year is creeping up on us, but so are some of our favorite holidays. This month we have Thanksgiving, the Lodge will be closed. The Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Michigan game is on November 26th. Yes, technically this is not a holiday, but to us Buckeye Fans, well, it is a big game. There is a special football pool just for this game; if you are interested ask one of your servers for more information. We will have food set out and anyone interested in bringing their favorite game day snacks feel free to bring enough to share! We encourage those who would like to bring in pot luck during the OSU games or Nascar to feel welcome to do so anytime. This month we welcome back Taylor Station Band, Dawson Cooper Band, and Karen s Mix. All excellent musicians so mark your calendars! Last month, the Moose Riders hosted the State Quarterly Moose Rider Meeting. There were 70 people in attendance; all the Moose Riders worked hard and together to make the day a success. Patty, cooked up another fabulous spread that really impressed many of our guests. And to WOTM members who donated the desserts thank you, they too were a hit! October had good entertainment from Johnny Bobo, Rick Cox, and The Invisibles. Since the newsletter deadline came before the Halloween Party on October 29th, I will recap the event and costume winners in next month s article. Our entertainment committee works hard and we thank them for all that they do. Speaking of hard work, Jerry Weaver has been busy expanding our parking lot. As mentioned in previous newsletters, this winter we will work on remodeling the Social Quarters. These are definite signs of success! Let us all keep up our dedication and hard work in making our Moose Lodge prosperous through the years to come! All have a safe and happy Thanksgiving with your loved ones! Buckeye Lake Moose 2434 WOTM CHAPTER News The Women of the Moose October dinner was hosted by Lacey Mack with help from Joellen Harlan. It was the perfect dinner for a chilly fall night! Our next WOTM dinner will be Friday, November 4th, and hosted by Kathy Barr. She is making Sheperds Pie. The meal will be $6.00 and served from 6pm until 9pm. Our new WOTM members are: Patty Bobo sponsored by Sara Moore Catherine Zwissler sponsored by Judith Wallace Kathy Barnhart sponsored by Mary Morrison The next WOTM meeting will be held Sunday, November 6th, at 10:15 AM. Our second monthly meeting will be held Sunday, November 20th, at 10 AM. Thank you, Shawn Walker - Senior Regent NOTICE As of November 1st, 2011, Christi Hamm and Shawn Walker will no longer be in charge of the entertainment and adult parties for the lodge. Please see Wayne Purdy or Rick Arnoff with any comments or suggestions. MOOSE RIDERS THANK YA - THANK YA - THANK YA!!! On October 15th, we hosted the state quarterly Moose Riders meeting. Approximately 60 Mooseriders were in attendance. Huge thanks goes out to the LOOM, WOTM, and Moose Riders for making this event a success. Thanks to everyone who bought 50/50 tickets and chances on the liquor baskets. Other Mooserider herds were VERY impressed with the involvement our Lodge had with the meeting (many of them took notes and are taking it back to their Lodges) We hope that we will get the opportunity to host another quarterly meeting in 2012! Patty and George did a excellent job in preparing the meal and getting everyone s belly s full! As always, Melissa and the girls kept up a fast pace, served great drinks and cold beer! Doug Boysel, also gets a big pat on the back for letting us use his sound equipment, hopefully we ll be hearing him play at the Lodge soon. Don t fret...our riding season is NOT over, if the scooters will start, we ll be on the road. Our next meeting is November 2nd, at 6:30pm, hope to see all the current Mooseriders there. We are always accepting new riders... so come on out. We will be participating in the annual Salvation Army Toy Run on November 6th. Come on out and line the streets of Newark, you ll be overwhelmed by the generosity of the biker community. We ve got some great baskets to raffle off...see you at the Lodge soon!
