The Company We can say that modern roads and Valli Zabban were born and grew up together. IDROBITUME ZABBAN was founded in Bologna in 1928. A pioneer undertaking: the production, transportation and application of the bitumen have still a long way to go before reaching the actual standards. The multilayer bituminous emulsion with grit was manually applied on the roadbed, to obtain a paving in synthetic asphalt. The IMPRESA EDILE STRADALE VALLI GIULIO & C. was founded in Florence in 1945. The two companies merged their experiences in 1982, generating the biggest Italian bitumen transformation production centre for road paving and building waterproofing. The time was right to start up new partnerships and industrial synergies. In 1982 the company became part of the Pontello Group and was joined later, in 1984, by Calcestruzzi (Ferruzzi Group). In 1995 a small qualified shareholding was acquired by Api. In 1998 the shareholding majority goes to Deutsche Morgan Grenfell Capital Italy. In 2004 a new path is outlined: 100% of Valli Zabban shareholding goes to General Beton Triveneta, a Tonon Group Company. 5

The Divisions Valli Zabban has always been organized in two Divisions. The Roads Division, which is devoted to bitumen transformation for the construction of safe and environmentally sustainable roads, goes alongside with the Membranes Division, where the company has capitalized its unquestioned technological leadership in the bitumen know-how becoming one of the top quality ones in the building sector both in Italy and abroad. Two souls, one company and one vocation: the bitumen transformation. The production sites Factories Arezzo Bologna Collestrada (PG) Trecastelli (AN) Salzano (VE) Vercelli Depots Ancarano (TE) Cormano (MI) Cassano Magnago (VA) Firenze Roma Asciano (PI) Pescara Valli Zabban Headquarter is located in Sesto Fiorentino (Florence). The production factories are located in Arezzo, Bologna, Perugia, Salzano (Venezia) and Trecastelli (Ancona). This last one, in the forefront for quantity and quality production, gives a very strong contribution to the Company's growth. In 1999, a fire destroyed it completely but thanks to the strong goodwill of ownership and staff, it raised again from its ashes after a few months. Today the Trecastelli factory produces both for the Roads Division and the Membranes Division and it is the one Valli Zabban is most proud of. The two production lines, assigned to the bituminous membranes are completely automatized and of a leading technology. The Bologna factory is the most modern and progressive one for the production of modified bituminous emulsions, elastomeric modified bitumens, improved bitumens for lukewarm conglomerate and foam base bitumens. In Bologna the central Laboratory of the Roads Division is also operating, absolutely one of the best equipped and technologically advanced in the country. The Arezzo factory produces hot and cold conglomerate. This is marketed in Italy and Europe by both Divisions. The Perugia factory, wich has been recently renewed with completely up to date systems, produces just in time binder to regenerate exhausted asphalt and all types of bituminous emulsions. The Salzano and Vercelli factories produce special bituminous emulsions and give an effective coverage to North-Western and North-Eastern Italy. In 2000, Promobit was founded in Naples; the company distributes bituminous products for roads, mainly modified bitumen, in the South of the country in joint-venture with Ramoil. 9

The philosophy Environment, Quality, Safety and Social Accountability are words which have always been present in the history and tradition of Valli Zabban. This is also thanks to the enormous and constant investments made over the years which have allowed to pursue and achieve, through the research, the sustainable quality of the products and services respecting the environment. The Company's human resources are of the highest quality level. In 1993 Valli Zabban, first one in Italy in its field, obtained from Bureau Veritas Quality International the prestigious Quality Certification ISO 9001. Later on, the Environmental Certification ISO 14001 in 2005, the Safety Certification OHSAS 18001 in 2007 and the Social Accountability Certification SA 8000 in 2009 were obtained. With the latter one Valli Zabban is the first and only European Company in its field achieving the QASE Integrated System. Such important and prestigious results are not a final target for Valli Zabban but a starting point to improve even further. All of this proud to have participated with a leading role in the roads paving and waterproofing history both in Italy and abroad and aware to be able to face the challenge of the third millennium positively, with great humility and as much determination.
