CAMP LEADERS IN TRAINING (L.I.T.) APPLICATION Description The Leaders in Training (LiT) program is a 4 week summer program focusing on developing work readiness skills, responsibility, and leadership skills. LiT s must be 15 or 16 years old and or entering the 10 th or 11 th grade in school. They are volunteers for the South Shore YMCA, not campers or staff. The Leaders in Training will observe, assist, and participate alongside counselors, head counselors, activity specialists, and peers in different camp activities. Service projects will be held each week for the volunteers to work on for the community or for camp. The Goal of the LiT program is to prepare youth with skills that will help them reach their goals and become better leaders. The students will also be trained in child abuse prevention. All LiT s will be taught job preparation skills, these skills include; resume writing, job interview preparation and networking. Also as a camp volunteer LiT s will be working alongside camp staff learning how to become great leaders and how to become good role model for the children. Expectations of LIT s Time management arrive 9:00am and check in with the camp leadership Attendance Attend every day during the session Role Model YMCA Core Values Communication Ask questions, communicate with peers and staff. Responsibilities Assist counselors, campers, specialist, and directors. LiT s are not responsible for disciplinary actions of campers. Participation is key Have Fun and Be Safe Orientation/Training All LiT s will be trained in Child Abuse Prevention. Additional training will be given during the four weeks. Each LiT will receive two evaluations during camp. **Physical Immunization Records are required. Please attach a copy of your records to the application. ** $50 fee for LiT s that are accepted. Successful Applicants will receive an evaluation from the LiT director.
