Try and get some sleep on the flight tonight. Saturday, September 8th Day 2 Welcome to Scotland (B, D) Upon arrival in Glasgow, we will transfer to Edinburgh for an orientation tour of Scotland's capital city - 'Auld Reekie' as it is fondly named before lunch. After checking in, we will have an early Welcome Dinner as well as an early night to prepare for our wonderful Scottish experience! Overnight Edinburgh Sunday, September 9th Day 3 Edinburgh (B) Today, after complimentary breakfast you have the opportunity to explore the Old Town of Edinburgh. Beginning at Edinburgh Castle you will be able to visit inside to explore the oldest building in Edinburgh, St Margarets Chapel, the National War memorial & Chapel and the Honours of Scotland (Scotland s crown jewels). Then walk down the Royal Mile and turn right to National Museum of Scotland (Free Entry) to give you a timeline of Scottish History. Have lunch (not included) at GreyFriars Pub and learn about the story of GreyFriars Bobby, the wee Skye Terrier given the key to the city. Then make your way back to St Giles Cathedral and down Royal Mile to Holyrood Palace. Suggested dinner this evening at Weatherspoon s on George Street (previously a large Bank). Overnight - Edinburgh Monday, September 10th Day 4 Oban (B, D) This morning after complimentary breakfast, you will tour through Glasgow and over the Erskine Bridge to the Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond. You will have an opportunity to explore the Clan village of Luss on the shores of Loch Lomond with spectacular vies of Ben Lomond, before travelling though Highlands and Lochs to Inveraray Castle, home to the Duke of Argyll. After leaving Inveraray, we will enjoy a scenic drive across to Oban and time for a lovely Seafood Dinner. Overnight Oban
Tuesday, September 11th Day 5 Isle of Mull & Iona (B) This morning after complimentary breakfast, you will have cruise on Caledonian MacBraynes to Mull, where in Craignure you join the bus to Fionophort with a stunning drive across Mull to the ferry over to Iona. This is where Christianity was introduced to Europe by St Columba, a disciple of St Patrick. Here you will visit Iona Abbey as well as the resting place of the Kings of Scotland including Macbeth and also the ancient Nunnery. You will then return to Oban in time for dinner. Overnight Oban Wednesday, September 12th Day 6 Oban to Skye (B, D) We will enjoy another traditional breakfast this morning before we tour onto Glencoe and the Visitor Centre which explains the full story of the Massacre at Glencoe which made, even to this day, the Campbell Clan reviled throughout the historic annals of Scottish history. We then tour onto Fort William with the highest mountain in Great Britain, Ben Nevis on our righthand side. You will be able to enjoy lunch on the shores of Loch Ness in Fort Augustus, before a spectacular scenic drive to Skye. As we cross Kyle of Localsh, you will see the Cuillin Hills to your left and beautiful seascapes to your right before arriving in Portree. We have dinner at a local restaurant tonight. Overnight Portree Thursday, September 13th Day 7 Portree (B) This morning after a complimentary breakfast, you will be free to enjoy a number of options. Portree is the most scenic town and port on Skye with wonderful walks just outside along clifftops, or the town itself, or you can take half day tour of Dunvegan Castle to see a little more of the Isle of Skye. Overnight Portree Friday, September 14th Day 8 Skye to Inverness (B, D) This morning after a complimentary breakfast, we head back to the mainland and once we cross from Skye, we will have chance to visit Eileen Donan Castle, the most photographed castle in Scotland due to the dramatic views. This was the opening scene to Highlander and is used for many location shoots including Outlander. You then tour onto Loch Ness and a chance for a mini cruise with Jacobite Cruises on Loch Ness with a visit to Urquhart Castle, which you may recognize from the Nessie sightings! Then we travel along the shores past Inverness and onto your Castle of Park Banff accommodation. We have dinner at a local restaurant tonight. Overnight Inverness
Saturday, September 15th Day 9 Inverness (B) After a complimentary breakfast this morning, we discover Clava Cairns and the Battlefield of Culloden, the last battle fought on British soil and where, in 1746, Bonnie Prince Charlie was defeated by Government forces. In the afternoon, we have free time in Inverness to explore. Overnight Inverness Sunday, September 16th Day 10 Stirling (B) After an early complimentary breakfast this morning, we tour through the Cairngorms National Park and tour through Ballater as well as a view of HM The Queen's Highland home of Balmoral and then head down to Braemar and Pitlochry, a stunning drive and lots of time to take in the scenery and sites. You will arrive at your Stirling accommodation to check in. We have dinner at a local restaurant tonight. Overnight Stirling Monday, September 17th Day 11 Stirling (B, D) Enjoy a complimentary breakfast. This morning, you will discover Scotland's heritage by visiting Stirling Castle, where Mary Queen of Scots resided and gave birth to James 1st (6th of Scotland)and where the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders call home.it is a location steeped in every chapter of Scottish history. You will also visit the site of the Battle of Bannockburn where Robert the Bruce conquered Edwards Army in 1315. You will be visiting Wallace Country as well as free time in Stirling. Overnight Stirling Tuesday, September 18th Day 12 Fly home (B) Enjoy a complimentary breakfast.
