Recent monthly traffic levels were similar to 212 levels. However, December 213 traffic is higher than last year. 23 228 226 224 222 22 218 216 214 212 21 28 Average daily traffic in December for last 5 Years Intermediate Forecast dated 213-9 22411 22223 22759 2149 21876 29 21 211 212 213 227 21777. -.5% -1. -1.5% -2. -2.5% -3. -3.5% -2.6% -2.8% -2.6% 12 months rolling traffic trend -2.8% -2.6% -2.4% -2.4% -2.3% -2.2% -1.8% -1.6% -1.4% -.8% Traffic growth is between the low (+1.3%) and baseline (+2.7%) forecast for December (from the 7-year forecast updated in September 213). December saw a traffic recovery since the beginning of the Winter Schedule. Turkey, UK, Morocco and the Scandinavian states added most flights to the network. France on the other hand lost the most flights compared to December 212. There is strong Turkish internal traffic and increased traffic coming from/going to the Middle East and Israel. The Canaries and Moroccan sunseeker traffic increased as the political unrest in Egypt continued. Santa Maria FIR handled more overflights coming from the Atlantic due to the southerly position of the jet stream. In December 213, Low-cost growth accelerated from circa 3% during the summer months to above 5% for the second month in row. This graph shows the variation in average daily traffic for the last 12-month period relative to that for the 12-month period before. The average daily traffic from January 213 to December 213 decreased by.8% relative to that from January 212 to December 212. In December 213, seven of the top 1 airports had less traffic compared to December 212. The largest traffic increases were at Istanbul Sabiha (+34.2%), Istanbul Ataturk (+11.4%), Malaga (+1.6%) and Tel Aviv Ben Gurion (+1.3%) airports. The largest decreases in traffic were at Palma de Mallorca (-5.1%), Lyon Saint Exupery (-4.9 %) and Marseille Provence (-4.8%) airports. Four of the top 1 air operators had less traffic compared to December 212: Lufthansa (-7.9%), Air France (-7.7%), British Airways (-4.3%) and Alitalia (-2.9 %). The operators with the highest traffic growth were Ukraine International (+78.3%), German Wings (+6), Virgin Atlantic Ltd (+4.4%), Norwegian Air Shuttle (+23.7%), Aegean Airlines (+23.2%), Turkish Airlines (+21.2%), Vueling Airlines SA (+18.8%) and Qatar Airways Comp (+18.3%). Air Nostrum (-17.1%), BAW Shuttle (-18.3%) and Olympic (-19.8%) recorded the highest decrease compared to December 212. The increase of Ukraine International flights by 78.3% is due to continuing changes in fleet size and route network following the cessation of operations of Aerosvit in January 213. The transfer of certain Lufthansa flights to German Wings and from Olympic to Aegean Airlines accounts for variations seen in these carriers. Air Nostrum (-7.1 %) decrease is due to airline consolidation and restructuring. Pegasus saw an increase in flights of (+21.5%) compared to December 212 following an increase in fleet size. Traffic increased in December at Casablanca, Bucarest, L viv, Lisbon, Canaries, Istanbul and Ankara ACCs and the traffic decreased in Ljubljana, Warsaw, Beograd, Skopje and Athens ACCs. NM s management of traffic due to the implementation of Warsaw ACCs PEGASUS 21 ATM system resulted in increased traffic in adjacent ACCs. NM Network Operations Report Analysis December 213 4

The highest delays were recorded in London ACC on the 7 December due to technical problems with the VCS telephone system (preventing switching from night time to daytime operations). Regulations were applied for the whole day with very high delays. Warsaw ACC also recorded significant delays due to the implementation of the PEGASUS 21 ATM system. London Heathrow, Geneva, Amsterdam, Vienna, Istanbul, Berlin, Zurich, Oslo, Stockholm, Frankfurt and Munich airports were affected by seasonal weather: strong winds, low visibility, rain, snow and low cloud ceiling. Nicosia ACC continues to record delays due to TOPSKY ATM system transition project that started in September and continued to date requiring capacity reductions. Canaries, Lisbon and Barcelona ACCs had ATC capacity issues. Maastricht UAC generated delays due to the Variable Division Flight Level (VDFL) implementation. Reims ACC had delays due to the French industrial action on 11 December. FRANKFURT MAIN MUENCHEN BARCELONA ACC ANKARA ACC NM Network Operations Report Analysis December 213 5

6. ALL AIR TRANSPORT DELAYS (Source: CODA) This section presents the all air transport delay situation as seen from the airlines by using the data collected by Central Office for Delay Analysis (CODA) from the airlines. Data coverage is 66% of the commercial flights in the ECAC region for November 213. ATFM delays reported by airlines may be lower than the NM calculated ATFM delays due to difference in methods: ATFM delays of NM are the (flight) planned delays ; the airlines report the actual experienced ATFM delay on departure. For instance, a flight with an ATFM delay may also have a handling delay absorbed within the ATFM delay. For the airline, a part of this delay is the ATFM delay and the rest is the handling delay.
