Aboard the meticulously restored umber and cream 1920s and 30s carriages, passengers enjoy fine food and wines as Britain's countryside unfolds at the window. Enjoy Britain at its best with a British Pullman classic The train Eleven carriages, each an original masterpiece from the 1920's and 1930's with their own name and unique personality. The British Pullman can carry up to 252 passengers and consists of 11 parlor cars. 5 kitchens and 1 service car. Each carriage seats between 20 and 26 passengers. Seating in the carriages is either in small compartments seating up to four people or in the open car mostly at tables for two. There is also a limited number of single and triple tables in the open car. Client will enjoy a fully guided tour (where applicable all entrance fees are included). Alternatively clients may prefer to spend time at their leisure. All meals served on board the British Pullman are freshly prepared by master chefs, and are accompanied with chilled champagne and wine. The actual meals served vary according to the journey taken. Special dietary meals available (must be reserved at time of booking).
Service Stewards on the British Pullman train will serve meals and any drinks or refreshments clients may require. A Train Manager will be on hand throughout the journey. He is there to help should clients have any questions while on board. The Head Chef is responsible for creating menus and supervising all preparation aboard the train. Clothing Smart daywear is requested. For dinner, more formal wear is customary. Smoking Orient-Express operates a no smoking policy. On arrival at Hove, clients will be greeted by guides who will escort them to their coach for a ride to the Royal Pavilion. Clients are asked to pay close attention to the sites visited as they will be invited to solve a mystery during the return journey. Prizes will be awarded. The Old England Hotel (a Forte Heritage Hotel with 82 rooms) is situated in the heart of Bowness on Windermere. A former country house, its attractive gardens run down to its own jetties on the lake. While you are on board the British Pullman, your meals along with drinks such as champagne and wine are all included. Are disabled people able to travel on the Orient-Express? We are able to accommodate passengers with slight walking difficulties although we recommend that they, be accompanied by an able-bodied passenger. We regret that our carriages cannot be boarded in wheelchairs. Our staff is, however, available to assist any passengers to their seats and folding wheelchairs can be stored during the journey. Some excursions, for example Edinburgh Military Tattoo, are not suited for disabled travelers. Should you have any special requirements please contact your nearest Orient- Express office. Can I buy souvenirs or presents on board the train? Yes. The Collection Venice Simplon-Orient-Express has a range of exclusively designed gifts. Can I get a group discount? Yes. The British Pullman is ideal for celebrating a private occasion or entertaining clients on a corporate event. The minimum number required to qualify for a group discount is 12. The British Pullman can also be chartered for bigger occasions.
Can I smoke on board the British Pullman? Northern Belle operates a no smoking policy in its dining cars. Can I use my mobile phone on the train? Out of consideration for your fellow passengers, please turn off mobile phones while in the Northern Belle carriages. Can you cater for special meal requirements such as vegetarian? Yes. As long as we are notified at the time of booking, of any special dietary requirements, we will do our best to comply. We do however regret that we are unable to provide meals requiring strict religious observance in the preparation. Please advise any special requirements on the booking form. What do I need to wear on board the British Pullman? Smart casual wear (not jeans or sneakers) is the order of the day, such as a jacket and tie for men. Ford our dinner excursions, more formal wear is customary. For outdoor events such as golf, practical wear is recommended. Will I need to tip the staff? Gratuities are at the passengers' discretion.
